Gaps are acceptable, rear is looking really good. Hopefully you have added the step to the top of the ear as per the link I posted earlier. To get the ear closer at the front you would need to sand the top front of the ear. -
Hello and welcome aboard, funny how that building bug bites many of us, I have a (cough, cough) few costumes Some info for you here Good luck with the research and look forward to seeing a build thread from you soon.

Really depends on what size endcaps you got with your kit, many suppliers add pipe to their armor kits. Have you tried scrap yards, I've found quite a bit of weird sized pvc pipe that way. When I've been stuck before for pipe sizes I've used a larger pipe, cut a slots in it, heated closed then glue. I ran across this 3D file some time ago, it's free but I've not tried it https://www.printables.com/model/485448-star-wars-storm-trooper-thermal-detonator Trooperbay sells kits too https://trooperbay.com/product/stormtrooper-thermal-detonator-mortar-td-o2-cannister-kit-parts-star-trooper-wars-cosplay-white-abs-plastic/

I've not seen the SciFiHeaven files myself, others may have. I don't think there are any else I would recommend currently -
A few things you may want to address before the DO's get here. Swap this snap, flat side faces out Looks like you have taken off too much material off from your large ab plate Note the area around the base, yours is missing You have some paint on your gums, Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area. Also if your tube stripes are decals and recently applied you may be able to remove them on your right side (put tape on top of them, carefully lift, then replace) Ideally, the tube stripes are positioned approximately a pencil width from the side of the cheek. My internet is not allowing all your images to load, I'll try have a look if there is anything else needed

KJ Build thread? Walt's Trooper Factory Kit
gmrhodes13 replied to MSF Productions's topic in ANH Build Threads
You do have a few issues there, I'll add some references so you can compare Ear gap is a little big Brow trim a little uneven, should be straight Bottom screw is normally seen outside the rubber trim Vocoder needs to be more defined Ears need black line around the grey as well as one bump No paint on gums Tears and traps black lines need to be a little more defined, masking with painters tape can help this. Another trick is to paint the black first then add the grey, easier to control the width of the lines that way. Corners should also be sharp and not rounded. Don't get disheartened most of what you have just needs tweaking and a little more work, although I think your ears may be too thin on the bases to salvage. -

You can trim a little more in the corners of the teeth Although I would trim a little more into the corner some screen helmets stopped short so you may have gotten away with it. You can also notch the ear which will allow the ear to sit closer on the faceplate. More info in this thread If possible try to align the ear angle to the traps, not all helmet makes can achieve this though The "ideal" ear placement is as seen below, where the screws line up with the rear angle of the trap right above it. Because some armorers design their helmets differently or send them pre-assembled this is not always possible to achieve, but it is suggested that you try to get as close as you can. Note: Top ear screws should ideally be located directly below the rear of the trap. -

WTF raised area is not as big as screen used armor so you won't get exactly the same appearance, here's a couple of L2 approved for comparison -

TheSweatshop's 3D Printed Rogue One TK Stormtrooper

A good tip for any high spots is wrap your sandpaper around a small piece of wood. Even with a 3D resin printer you can get pooling from time to time depending on the orientation. Hopefully this gives you some more strength and cut down on some printing. -
The forearms are like that on a lot of kits, I did heat my rounded one and made it a little more oval just as I have skinny arms and gives a better appearance. Using any heat does take some practice and you consider the modification you should practice A LOT before attempting. Yes you can trim the excess area, you don't need a return edge so it's easy to trim

Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advance to 1500 Advanced Tactics Awards Newsletter Editor Staff List 2023 Follow FISD Greetings troopers, Another month in the books. This one has been a bit chaotic for me with Darth Life rearing their unwanted head. Though on the plus side I did finally make the first cuts on my TLJ build. With all the recent work on CRLs for Captain Enoch and the Imperial Commando, we noticed that the old CRL header did not really make sense anymore. This month with some help from the Legion Membership Office (LMO) we updated the header which means we updated all our CRLs! This also meant we updated all of the original trilogy kit based CRLs to add back some items removed from the header. The key points to note: Standards have not changed. The header is now more generic and suited to all of our CRLs. With the rise of modern suits we have clarified what is not acceptable as a build material, and that all 3D printed items must be smooth and not show visible print lines. Only Original Trilogy suits will show the rules about Rubies and FX armour. Please do make sure you check out the updates and if you have any questions please let us know. https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL Another key milestone this month is the reveal of the new Valkyries logo. We had a lot of great input and the quality of the entries was high. The final design is a great representation of the ladies of our detachment and something I look forward to seeing more of, and more of you who it represents. Make sure you read on to see the design if you've not yet seen it. With the summer now upon us for the majority of us, troop counts will be peaking. Make sure you get out and enjoy your armour at least once. Though remember to look after your self and keep hydrated. Imperial Attaché patch Imperial Attaché Rocker Imperial Attaché Outstanding Achievement Award With Unquestioned Loyalty Jonatan Östling TK-23592 "Nairy" Attaché Ambassador Master Armorer Program - 2024 Relaunch FISD has many wonderful programs to help members build and submit costumes for our detachment, whether it be a classic Stormtrooper, a First Order Stormtrooper, or even one of the new Imperial Armored Commandos. While our Expect Infantry and Centurion programs get most of the attention, FISD staff wants to relaunch the Armorer Program (Currently called the Master Armorer Program). What is the Armorer Program you ask? Well, it is a program designed to recognize those troopers that go above and beyond to assist themselves and others in getting costumes built, submitted, and approved. One of the goals of all the detachments in the 501st Legion is to help members build and submit costumes that meet and hopefully exceed the minimum requirements of the Legion’s CRLs. Currently the Master Armorer program has the requirement of helping a minimum of 5 members achieve Expert Infantry status. The member must have spent at least 30min physically helping another member with cutting, gluing, sizing, etc, just because they want to help (no money exchanged). The definition of an armorer is “a maker, supplier, or repairer of weapons or armor”. So while we certainly love the feedback that members provide to others on the forums, and the extra steps some do by having video calls to help walk people through issues with their builds, this program requires hands on work. The new program will have the same physical help requirement, but we are going to move from a “wins” system, (where a win was help an individual for 30 min or more) to a points system, and we aren’t limiting it to only Expert Infantry builds. While we are pushing the Advance to 1500 to try and achieve 1500 Expert Infantry members, we recognize that the goal of the detachment is to get FISD members build, submitted, and approved. So we will be awarding points for Basic builds as well. Currently there are 3 levels of the award, FISD Armorer, FISD Senior Armorer and FISD Master Armorer. The new program will add a 4th level at the beginning called the Apprentice Armorer. The point scale will be as follows. 5 points - Apprentice Armorer 10 points - Armorer 20 points - Senior Armorer 30 points - Master Armorer The Armorer candidate would earn points based on what level the member costume they assisted with achieved. If you help with a basic build, you get 1 point, if you help with a EIB build you get 2 points. So a person to basic you get a point, help them again to get their EIB earning another 2 to a total of 3. The thought again here is that we want to help build as many stormtroopers as possible. If you love building armorer and love helping fellow members get their costumes built, then this is the program you’ve been searching for. We look forward to awarding more members with this award as we know how much we all love Troopers helping Troopers. More information can be found here Armorer Rocker Patches Rocker patches are now available for the Armorer Program, there is currently just the one patch, and members are eligible to receive two of them once they reach Level 2, "Armorer". More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Keep in mind that no question is too small, and that your queries will only be seen by the D.O. Staff. TK ANH Stunt by CloseTheBlastDoor
gmrhodes13 replied to CloseTheBlastDoor's topic in ANH Build Threads
Nice work, looks much better Don't forget to trim that smaller ab plate -
I found I only used my belt sander once in all my builds, I found it a bit aggressive, more control with a hand sander, can be as simple as wrapping sandpaper around a piece of wood, anything flat will work. Masking tape can be a good substitute to clamps and magnets, for those areas which won't fully close add some downwards pressure while masking and usually they will stay flat. E6000 I normally leave for at least 24 hours, any parts under strain/stress I leave for 48 to 72 hours depending on weather temps. Adding inner cover strips can give you extra support, especially on areas which will be opened and closed, I just use left over trimming scraps. Always make sure you rough up bother areas with coarse sandpaper to help the E6000 to grip too.
