  1. I've been following your build thread on the 501st boards - very impressive!
  2. My RT-Mod was easy to get to Centurion - you just do the additions/modifications as you build. It takes a little more time but is worth it in the end. The bucket does take a little more work - be sure to do a little research on replacing the rivets at the bottom of the ears with screws (I started a thread when I did mine). Read Darth Aloha's build thread...and read it again. Then refer to it as you build, often. Have fun!
  3. My resin doopys stays home on display, Hasbro mod goes trooping. Neither is impossible to replace, but it stings a little less when it's a $40ish kit instead of $100 (estimated prices - haven't looked at their web site recently), although 'used' hasbros are getting a bit more difficult to source on craigslist...
  4. RT-Mod - I have a pretty good sized melon and mine is perfect (6'2")
  5. Just think of the 'saran wrap' as unwrapping Xmas presents...again and again and again Rob does a great job of protecting his work so it gets to you unscathed! Have fun - I enjoyed my build of the armor he built for me very much. Good luck and remember you have an invaluable resource right here on FISD if you have questions (which you undoubtedly will)!
  6. Ditto - humbled and proud to have my name on her bin as well. Great job, troopers!
  7. What a weekend - I will start off apologizing for those of you who suffered through 3 versions of our Flash Mob so far...yes, there is another one at the end of this post And I'll also apologize for anyone coming in hoping for celebrity pictures of any of the Star Trek:TNG bridge crew who were in attendance...they were there but far away from any of our Squad cameras. Here we go: We did have one celebrity (that I know of) stop by the booth - I'm not sure if you'll recognize him out of make-up and without his dual lightsaber:
  8. That is on my TK "Bucket List"...can't wait for him to come to Austin
  9. Very cool - if you could incorporate a laser into it to that would be double awesome! I've had my eye on a couple of Halloween 'ray guns' to use as a hold-out weapon for my Mandolorian build, but will wait until the after-Halloween sales to pick them up. I prefer to hand-build Mando weapons as opposed to spray painting a watergun/nerf gun, but some of the pre-made stuff can be very cool with a little work.
  10. It was a PITA, but E6000 is pretty forgiving so just a minor setback. I've been lucky that only 2 of my 40 magnets have broken, but will probably buy another 20 or so for my next build - like clamps, you can't have too many!
  11. Don't let this happen to you: My ab & kidney plates were about a foot apart on my work bench when they decided to 'get together'
  12. I love the one I saw that had Jar-Jar in the cross-hairs...
  13. Silly question, but would you be able to wire both mics into one speaker (mono)? Since I only have hearing in one ear it would nice to be able to hear all around me, even if it isn't really directional. As it is, when I run a fan I can't hear anything at all (except the fan).
  14. Since joining the 501st on 6/30/12 I have done 6 official and 5 'unofficial' troops and have 4 more official on the calendar between now and 12/1/12, and on at least one of those we will be stopping at other venues on the same day. (Edit: My numbers don't include armor parties and Squad lunches - but there have been 4 of those (lunch turned into an armor party after we left the restaurant)). CASA superhero run has been my favorite so far, but I am REALLY looking forward to Wizard World in 2 weeks - it is rumored we'll be Patrick Stewart's escort, but that is unconfirmed at this time
  15. I survived the "Vegas-esque Beach Themed Mall" - very appropriate description Eric I did get to Duke's (twice!) and we also ventured away from Waikiki on a few occasions. Naturally, we didn't cover everything we wanted to do while there - 5 days isn't nearly enough time...we were kind of on a budget that got blown out of the water very quickly, but it was an awesome experience and we can't wait to go back. We started a list of stuff we didn't get to do and are formulating a plan to get to the other islands as well...so it will probably be a 10-14 day trip next time, and you can imagine how long it will take to afford that kind of trip (bringing the kiddos along as well). Probably my favorite experience was learning to surf with Hawaiian Fire - I did manage to get up and ride a few waves but also spent my share of time falling off. And as you can see below, I was representing the Empire, thanks to Barricade's undershirt run
  16. Thanks to everyone for the replies - we have quite a list of things to do! Very much looking forward to this adventure - and for any Pacific Outpost peeps who find themselves in the area of our hotel, drop me a PM!
  17. Ditto what Eric said. I'm 6'3" and had to do minimal trimming on my RT, mostly in the thighs for my chicken legs. It is worth the wait and you'll love the kit!
  18. We had three troops rolled together in one here for the Central Texas Squad. Commander Fil's son had a birthday party, we took a quick shopping trip to Whole Foods, and then back for Star Wars Reads at BookPeople. Busy, but a blast, as you can see below.
