Would these fans work in a bucket?
Darth Voorhees replied to spires75's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
they are a littlecheaper on their website... ---------- they have circular ones also..may work out nicely without the square edges gettin in the way! I dont see any DB level on the items though...just says low noise -
Dont be TOOscared tocuit downthe chestplate! Heres what i would do.. Id trim some off the shoulders to raise it up a bit,and also trim the neckline so your not choking yourself You can then also trim the bottom edge, to make it a bit shorter,AND get a more accurate look to it...and add the return edge back with a simple hobby iron you can get off of e-bay for around $20 or sometimes a little less. the thighs you have that fit better but are too tall...you can do the same thing, trim the tops, and u can add that return edge even though the FX armor does not have that...it is more accurate heres a link to the thread that explains this mod: Chest plate mod hope i helped more than i confused

looks good! Troopertim! I like the bump myself, but mine is also trimmed out alot so its more subtle. I also have an AP bucket.

Caboots is still making trooper boots!
Darth Voorhees replied to kiyotei's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Hmmm...i may have a proposal for one of you. I happen to have a pair of size 9 caboots. Ive trooped in them about 10 times total. Im looking to get a pair of size 10's as i want to put inner lifts in them and the size 9 becomes tight. Anyone willing to make a swap? oh, and i kinda like the smell too haha -
NEVER buy cheap spray paint
Darth Voorhees replied to Laspector's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
that sucks man,i hope ya got it sorted out! Also, something to keep in mind aside from the cheapo brands is the age of the sprays. they get stringy or spattery sometimes just from getting old,and im talkin about the good brands. It happened to me more than once once with various rustolem or krylon paints. One can of krylon i had once, the paint was probably 2-3 yrs old, and it was stringy...i got a new can and it was fine. I cant imagine how bad an old can of cheapo paint would be! -
this is the greatest thread ever!Awesome finds! Now i want TK thighs made of dragonskin! haha! Anyone who has used dragonskin, does it cast shiney, like would it look like ABS enough to get away with it trooping? im kinda curious now lol

TE2/AP New recruit requesting insight
Darth Voorhees replied to TK9410's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
i have an AP kit and am a little shorter than average at 5'8", and im a lil rounder, but im workin on that haha.i weigh in at around 205ish.im probably as round as you can get with the AP armor before it starts to look silly,in my opinion anyways.here's a pic of it on me. I do agree with what was said that the build is as important as the armor you get. ----------- -
attaching the newton amp
Darth Voorhees replied to Darth Voorhees's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
yea i know about the chest plate thing and all. Ive had that and ive had the hovi speakers, both just werent loud enough or i just got to much distortion or feedback. i know the newton isnt "canon" but i neitheris an FX helmet,so i dont mind sacrificing a little canon appearance so that i can interact better with people. im just tired of going to cons and having to repeat myself over an over. Noone but us notices the amp on the belt. I already have the amp and just want to hang it off the belt. i guess ill just shorten the strap. thanks for the input tho guys. -

Radio Shack Newton amp
Darth Voorhees replied to Darth Voorhees's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
imnot trying to hide mine. im just going to clip it onto the belt. Thats what my garrison mates do. Havent been aboe to get ointoch with one of them tonight so i posted another thread about it. Ive heard that when people take the newtons apart they dont work, so im not going there. just gonna hang it from my belt. Noone notices them but "our people" anyway, and its white and fits in with the armor. And everyone will be able to hear me at a busy con. -
How do you guys who use the newton amp attach it to your armor? I see most have it hanging vertically on one side of the belt.how do you get it like that? The waist strap seems way to long for that, and kinda useless otherwise, but i dont want to remove it until im sure how i should be going about that. thanks in advance people!

Best place to get FX armor in the UK
Darth Voorhees replied to gregoravich's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
FX lite is just an FX kit without the helmet and all the velcro and strapping. Its JUST the armor parts. PM Deckard about shipping to the UK EDIT: ahah i guess ya found out as i was posting lol -
[cross posted from your intro thread just incase] the FX manual is a waste of paper. Any help you need you can find here on the boards. When i got my first FX kit, i used these awesome youtube videos made by our own TK-6044. They are EXTREMELY helpful and i didnt even look at my manual. ----- The online tutorials supertrooper mentioned above are also helpful, and great suggestions Any other help you need feel free to ask anyone here and we will be glad to help you! It is advised you throw away the velcro supplied with the kit. it is horrible and will fail faster than a second grader taking the SAT's. Get yourself some industrial strength velcro. My kit is assembled with mostly snaps and only limited velcro. i used the method TK6640 used and its been holding up great. Having the kit done by Halloween is a tight deadline, but hopefully with all of us here you may be able to do it!
