  1. Brilliant idea holding it together with magnets. Sometimes I remember I'm such a newb at all this! Looks good so far. Not sure what those images of "plastic weird stuff" were showing - any explanation there?
  2. Yeah, cool mischief, miss squashy-name. If my handle isn't so blatantly obvious as to slap you across the face, well, maybe you should slap yourself! I originally used LadyInBlack on the local RL site when I was building my Mara Jade, but I never submitted it and fell off... I'm LiW there too now. I've had so many handles, but the most enduring is Coyote Republic, which comes from my love of and devotion to those scruffy little scoundrels, particularly one I worked with in person for several years who sang the purest song of joy whenever a friend approached her yard. She became my muse.
  3. It is definitely looking great! >> The thighs are driving me nuts. In my first attempt to make them fit snugly, I over trimmed and now I have to shim them. They still refuse to stay up. I trimmed most of the return edge off the back also. I. Know. The. Feeling. !!! I hate the thighs!!! AAAANNNDDD I did the exact same on my clone shins. Well, the left one, anyway, the right is snug (might not fit over the boot) but the left I now have to add an INCH. INCH!!!! What happened to measuring 70 times before cutting!!??!??!??! Yeah, so, good luck with that. You're using e6000, right?
  4. Ouch, Dan! I wonder if it's worth it to force them to reimburse you the shipping too? After all, THEY sent the wrong product! They should be including a "return" shipping label if they have any customer sense at all. I'm sure they didn't, but it doesn't hurt to request it. Good luck with your new (reputable) kit, whatever you choose... even though a trimmed kit still needs assembly and fitting, you'll be SO glad you did!
  5. Oooh, the opposite problem of me... so I can't help too much. However, if you can post a photo or two and let us know which armor you've got... I'm sure someone can help you. That said, you show EIB already... is this a second set of armor? Or are you modifying your first suit?
  6. All done. Now I have to get back to the body
  7. I think he was just using it to test the primer where it won't be seen. Thanks for those tips, Jesse, they'll help when I'm destroying I mean painting my clone armor.
  8. HOORAY! Safe and sound. Now in your good hands!
  9. Yes, its' slow going. The kit is HUMONGOUS and I've done little but ruin it trying to "shrink" it a bit. I trim but the angles are so bad afterward that I have to heat it and bend it. I think I need to switch to boiling because the heat gun warps the edges. I could probably fit two of my bums in the butt plate! So, slow going, but going nonetheless. The helmet is fun and I love to paint, so that's a no-brainer. The welding mask came today so that'll finish it off by Sunday, then back to full armor. Need boots, and a couple pieces I'll have to make myself... it's "harder" than a TK but I'm enjoying the challenge and I DO look forward to weathering it
  10. Thanks, folks I touched up all the rough edges where the tape failed, so it's even better now. Should be adding brow trim and tube stripes tonight. If my lens arrives today, it'll be done! I WILL NEVER LOSE THE LOVE OF MY SHINY WHITE! Though I wouldn't mind having more armor I can weather... a TD, that cool new TKC, a death trooper...
  11. Yeah that was the hard part. It was Ep3 movie armor so I had to narrow it down. Mostly I hated the weird visors and some of the helmets... but I love red and can still stand by Sidious, so here we are.
  12. 1. How did I not ever explore this topic area earlier? *new home!* 2. Not approved yet, but been working on this puppy. 3. TK will always be my first and main squeeze.... LOVE MY SHINY!
  13. It's all very awkward - and I am ambidexterous! But then, I have hips. They kind of get in the way of everything TK. I started holding in the right but switched to left when I learned that was "the right thing to do" (pun intended) for ANH. It has actually become more comfortable to hold it in my left. If my arm gets really tired and I switch, I can't keep it in my right for long. *weird* (But then again, I have hips.) I troop a lot with TKRalf who is ESB and we look like good symmetry on either side of Vader or a special edition R2 X-box 360. We can both point in or both out, depending on which side we take. One thing I've definitely noticed is that I need a notch in my holster for the mag. Is that acceptable? Can't go ruining my EI status.
  14. Don't you have one of those fancy garage-o-mech fixit droids?
  15. First times are always the most fun to watch!! GOOD LUCK, Will! Go with the e6000 for sure. I hated that it cured slowly and is messy but I am ever grateful for the ability to adjust during curing and take things apart (carefully) later. OMG you have no idea how many times I've done this to my clone armor now!!! Measure 50 times, cut once, trim 50 times... ah, you'll figure it out no problem
  16. Awesome! Now get to work on that TM, soldier!
  17. YEAH BABY! Next Year: Maple Leafs!!!
  18. Sending as many good vibes as I can your way. Stay well, get her a friend-interpreter.
  19. Wow, you made that look easy.
  20. Best place to look for those is build threads, but even easier would be EIB status requests because they contain finished photos. Of course, if you're not going EIB and just want to see a finished suit, you can't compare every tiny feature, but you'll see the whole finished suit.
  21. That. Is. Sweet.

    SDCC 2012

It is definitely a corporate studio takeover. Though i never complain about the Lego booth! I think they need two separate events. Oh wait, they do: E3. Grr. Disney pulled out and created D23. If not for SDCC, though, I would not have been inspired to join the 501st. For the past four years my son and I have religiously watched the group photo. Now that it is my turn to take part, I can't stand the thought of going! Esp. if I can't participate in the fun 501st activities. All the more reason to make it to CVI.
  23. Depends on your GML... but looks like you already have an "IN"
