ATA armor build in progress

Congratulations! Well deserved, and wow, that approval was fast. I was sleepless for a few days waiting for the 501st to stop watching the movie and hit accept. -
BrinkHouse ANH TK Stunt Build [RT-Mod]

Yes -
Well that's a good thing. I had my tkboots since 2011 and just got armor and finished it in 2015. Some soft parts are harder to get than others. I want a new Spec Ops Tie Pilot bad but I'll be waiting it out for quite some time. I just am holding on that some of the vetted vedors make one because I rather not give Anovos the business. Not that I have anything against them armor wise, I just think they are overpriced.

Terrell is the owner of ATA. Start your research here: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/

Kidney plate sticking out too far
Airborne Trooper replied to Faolain's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
It's kind of a mess right now, but check MEPD for the 2015 official CRL updates. -
AM or AP (with the new upgrade) will be your best bet if you don't want to shim. You're an inch taller than me and I had to buy AM thighs because I couldn't fit in my MTK ones without shimming. I had to trim them a lot to fit. But remember, it's easier to take away than to add. Whatever way you choose, make sure you do a lot of research. Measure 3, 4, or 5 times and cut once
-
True enough. Only differences are the sniper knee plate and drop the TD for a backpack (minus a trooper not wearing either in a scene). The new MEPD artwork looks pretty cool though ----------------

I'm always in support of some sand and weathering We didn't get any new sandtroopers in this film so we gotta take what we can get.

BrinkHouse ANH TK Stunt Build [RT-Mod]
Airborne Trooper replied to BrinkHouse's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
Have to agree with Tim. ABS paste fixes aren't hard and worth the effort. Luckily, you have a new canvas belt anyways so it's not like you're turning the belt you need into swiss cheese too. Not that I did that myself........ -
Jins AP stunt build
Airborne Trooper replied to Jinsei's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Congrats and all the goodies. I almost went with AP but couldn't pass up the deal on my MTK at the time. Maybe one day I'll decide to be squeaky clean and do a TK. -
BrinkHouse ANH TK Stunt Build [RT-Mod]
Airborne Trooper replied to BrinkHouse's topic in ANH (Stunt and Hero)
Yes, you can trim your butt plate down too. Leave yourself material to recreate the return edge. I don't think it's a big deal and won't prevent approval, but you should have left some room for your ab plate too. Don't forget to add the kidney plate notches! -
I haven't even got to play the battle of Jakku yet even though I got the edition where it was released early. It's budget season here in NY state so between busy days, needy kids, and Christmas, I haven't played in near a month.

Anovos TK armor preorder
Airborne Trooper replied to bearings's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
If you want sanitized you should wait until FO TK are available. OT TK/TD with all their imperfections are accurate -
If you're using to wearing full face motorcycle helmets, you'll be fine. There's quite a bit of room on the sides of your head and down by the bottom for air to move around compared to an actual helmet that hugs your cheeks. Good idea to have some fans and not need them than need them and not have them.

One thing I would like to see in this film that I don't think has been in any SW film, a POV look from the stormtrooper's helmet. That'd be freakin awesome.

Comfys ATA ANH Stunt - First Build!
Airborne Trooper replied to Comfy Turtle's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
offset your shoulder bell to shoulder strap attachment. this will make them cover the front more.also bring it up closer to the shoulder strap attachment while you're at. -
Anovos TK armor preorder
Airborne Trooper replied to bearings's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Even when it bumped up in price after May 4th, it was still a good deal IMO. I spent well over $1k on my MTK with the accessories and needed items to complete my sandie. I haven't even got a pack built yet. I think this armor is going to look fine and everyone will finally be happy to have it in hand. I'm just saying once they are released to everyone, I wouldn't pay a premium for this kit like I would be tempted to for an RS. -
Absolutely agree! But no one will ever convince me of liking this or ROTJ TKs.

Another newbie helmet build that needs help...
Airborne Trooper replied to JimmyFilth's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Yeah, straitening a little would be fine but I wouldn't go higher. Just try to stay as close to the mold lines as you can. Then go back and sand it smooth. -
Kidney plate sticking out too far
Airborne Trooper replied to Faolain's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I'm a sandtrooper and I have notches on my kidney plate. Look at a few of the SWAT submissions on MEPD and they all have them. Don't add the notches until you get your kidney situation sorted out though. Do the strapping first as suggested above. If you need to make cuts, do so EQUALLY on both sides of the kidney a little at a time. It'll be easier to have a friend help tape it in place on the sides. Once you get that done, you'll more than likely have to redo the rivet holes on the kidney on the left side again too. Much easier to take away than to add back on.
