  1. Maybe some confusion here? Not sure, that is why I'm asking! The Aker is just an amp. The iComm is what does the static burst. Not sure if that's what ya meant I like the fact that the iComm gets it's power from the Aker through the 1/8th cable, so no need for extra batteries and the the Aker has a line in so my TK comm radio iPod shuffle plugs right into the Aker. The iComm is simple and does the job with many different random static bursts. It also has a PTT cable that you can use as well if you don't wan to use the voice activation.
  2. I LOVE my iComm with 10amp Aker! (no feedback!) ---------- Its made by Jim Sauter, a Legion member.
  3. I'm sure it's fine but I'd check with your GML just to make sure.
  4. I got an AM kit and it is super large. I'm 6'4", 210 and it was too big for me. So, you are still going to be trimming. ANY kit you get, you are going to trim.... There is no kit that is going to fit you automatically right out the box. Also note that the AM bucket is HUGE (formerly FX) and among the elitist it's going to be phased out eventually. It's already getting that way in Centurion status. I'm going to turn my AM into a Death Trooper, that way I can totally screw it up and no one will care too much, I'm hoping. And I'm going to replace it with an ATA kit.
  5. I got my TK409 neck seal in a couple weeks, pretty awesome too. Then again what DON'T you wait for? LOL. My TK Boots took 4 months But they ROCK!
  6. Those look sorta like the same ones I have. Here's some picts of mine: ------------ Make sure you prep the boots before painting. I used acetone and scrubbed the heck out of them with those green kitchen bristle pads. Did that for about a day or two. It left them really roughed up and removed a lot of the black shoe dye. At that point I started painting and put may many layers on. But now, those are going to be my backup boots because my brand new TK Boots arrive TODAY! (And these are the ones with the higher ankle so they don't slip out from under your shins)
  7. On the Mask of Nihilus server Bioware is setting up the legion with a special guild, named of course, 501st Legion. It'll be the only guild in game on any server to hold that name, since numbers aren't allowed in the title. Sean from my garrison has been working with Bioware to get it setup. Members only, or others can join if sponsored by a legion member in the guild. Hopefully it'll be setup soon. I have my Sith Warrior, ZekLoda and my BH, Cilos, on this server. Love the game, it rocks!
  8. You don't want a return edge in the back, trust me, stairs are your worst nightmare. My AM had a big return edge and I cut them off entirely.
  9. And if you click here you can listen to a Holiday Greeting from me to all of you! Happy Holidays everyone!
  10. Can't recall where I saw it, but some Legion member had made a black santa hat. I loved the design so made one myself. ---------
  11. Happy Holidays! Thanks for filling FISD with some of the best information one could ever ask for!
  12. I put 2" foam padding all around the inside of mine. Everything fits great (sans bucket which of course I take in a helmet bag) ---------
  13. Armor bite. Your new favorite word. I've done quite a few troops already and I'm still trying to figure out how to keep my light saber region from getting pinched
  14. Been waiting over a month now for my refund, no response from them to my emails. I've now had to file a complaint with my bank to get my money back. But in the long run, I'm glad this happened because Lewis' Scifire Blaster is completely and utterly awesome. My first troop with it was yesterday at DSC. Here's a few picts http://www.tk3425.com/?p=331
  15. I would love to know measurements for ATA armor. I have my AM kit I ordered a couple months ago and thinking of turning it into a sandy, and getting ATA for my clean TK.
  16. I love the Aker and iComm from Jim!!! Little video here: http://www.tk3425.com/?p=265
  17. I might do the balaclava myself. The mic has a VERY flexible boom and thus it bends quite nicely, enough that it falls off my mouth all the time. I wouldn't want to do tape myself, due to skin/sweat. But balaclava would work.
  18. Well the Memorex that Jim sells works, but I had some signal issues. IE, I placed the mic/transmitter in the back of my bucket and the receiver in my back piece. If I stand up straight it works. But if I move my head down, it loses signal and breaks up. At that point, I chose just to run the mic/wire down my neckpiece. But doing that I too run into the issue of the mic falling down like you. I may fiddle around with it but I think the biggest issue is that the antenna on the receiver was not extended. I'll let you know what I find out from my tests.
  19. ANH hand plates. I see nothing ESB about that lol.
  20. I've done several troops now in just a month lol and have one tomorrow (xmas parade) and I can tell you this: My first troop, I walked funny because of armor bite heh. My 2nd troop my thigh fell down (and had to have Han Solo stick his hand in there and fix it, picture WAS taken! ack) My 3rd troop my biceps twisted around entirely and looked really stupid heh. On my last troop one of my fans cut out, I ended up with a ton of sweat in my bucket that poured out. My point! Don't worry! Things happen to (most) of us. It will you too. But it will be the most fun you'll ever have! And as stated, bring that repair kit. I have a little 5 dollar toolbox with some velcro, scissors, my hot glue gun and glue, a leatherman, battery operated dremel with bits. Extra batteries, wire, a 2nd mic, glue, tape, etc. Already has come in handy! You will do fine. As it was said, it doesn't matter what happens to you, people and kids are gonna go nuts and you will get asked to take pictures a LOT! Stick with other troopers and you will learn a lot of good tips and tricks, both in and out of armor. Good luck and post picts when you get some!!
  21. Excellent, already Liked ya!
