  1. Elastic is better for hanging things on (having that little bit of stretch can help)or strapping together. I found out last weekend though that a few of my snaps are actually starting to tear through the elastic, so I'll need to remake those straps. Not a big deal, but may be something to take into account. Nylon webbing is nice and sturdy (I was able to get about 50 feet of it at a hardware store) but it is a little more difficult to get snaps into.
  2. Is it alright for my first picture to be used as my action shot? All the walls in my apartment are white so they wouldn't work for a background and I wont get a chance to troop for a few more weeks.
  3. Yeah, someone mentioned that to me on my facebook photos as well, I believe my current straps are 2 inches and need to be taken to 1 inch. I'll either replace the straps completely or cut them down so that the visible portion is only 1 inch wide.
  4. I will try to get an action shot when I get home from class. Daniel, I get those all the time too! I've actually been trooping my armor as is for about 6 months now and didn't realize that I might be EIB ready.

  6. The ones I used were about a half inch wide. I also used them as the attachment for the sniper knee plate!
  7. If these make it to the production line, I'd probably be interested as well!
  8. Welll, where do we start? We don't. Just burn it. Burn it with fire. And hope it didn't reproduce.
  9. Personally I went with a TKittel belt, a TKBondsrvant holster and a Veedox neck seal and I love all 3. Trooperbay is a great place to shop though, very nice people to do business with and also very affordable. It mostly comes down to what you think looks best for you!
  10. I find that I start looking at other projects while I wait for my current project to arrive. The 8 weeks of waiting for my kit seemed to drag on forever and I spent a lot of time looking at the mandalorian mercs forums as interest in those costumes. Once I got my TK someone told me I should do 3PO, and now that I am waiting for 3PO parts I am spending time looking at other costumes until that gets here. Currently I think it would be awesome to do a Halo Spartan after 3PO, but I don't know if I could handle the pepakura work for that. And every so often I glance at the mercs stuff. In general, yeah, I would say the hobby is addicting.
  11. Wonder how many people will do silly things with binary before the 10000s run out.
  12. They have actually already begun issuing numbers that are 5 digits, it is a huge milestone and testament to how large the 501st has become! edit: dang it. Terrell beat me to it by a whole 30 seconds! and I thought I was on top of it!
  13. I like the design a lot!
  14. Just curious if any troopers have done an event like this. One is being hosted at the hospital where I go to school and I'm thinking about trying it as a TK. Here is a brief description of the event: "The International Men's March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault & Gender Violence. A Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® Event is a playful opportunity for men to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects and remediations to sexualized violence." And more info is available at http://www.walkamileinhershoes.org/. I think it would be a neat event to do as a TK (if balancing wouldn't kill me) and I think I could raise a good chunk of change through my local garrison. What do you guys think? Have any of the men out there attempted walking in heels before? In armor with heels? Should I have a bad feeling about this?
  15. Gotta agree with Locitus here. The only really reasonable place for velcro is the back of the shins. There are a couple other places you might be able to make ti work, but snaps will serve you much better and help you to avoid wardrobe malfunctions mid-troop.
  16. I'd recommend going for EIB or Centurion even right off the bat. I told myself when I made mine that I was going to apply and then go back and tweak the few things I needed for EIB...here I am 6 months later and still thinking "I really need to get to work on my EIB qualifications."
  17. lol, Nathan, remember if you want any local help or advice or just want to get your hands on some armor to see how someone else did something shoot me a PM or another garrison member. I actually did this same thing the first time I held one of those up to my leg as well. I'm in KCK, so only about 20 minutes away.
  18. The vocoder for that particular lid actually is a separate piece that has to be glued on. Definitely replace the lid if you can though.
  19. I think both of your ears look really good. It is hard to tell from the images, but is your right ear a little bit thicker than your left? As far as getting the ears to fit snug on the cheeks it looks great- if you look at the screen shots almost every helmet in the movies has gaps near the edges, so having a few small gaps isn't terrible (and is actually screen-accurate!)
  20. I originally thought about going with a hockey bag as well (I mean, I only have 3 or 4 not being used lying around) but after constructing the armor decided to go with the Stanely tote due to durability. I was worried my armor would get banged around too much in the hockey bag!
  21. I don't know about what the "best" would be considered, but I personally have an ATA and love it.
  22. I got mine at Home Depot, they had mediums for people like us
  23. Everyone is so helpful. If they can't help you, they point you to someone or somewhere who can.
  24. Darren, I'm in the same boat as you, the forearms of my ATA are both too big for me. I went ahead and assembled and submitted to get official and need to go back and fix the arms----------This is kind of what I am going to follow when I do. Hope this helps. I think as far as your length goes you can take whatever you need to, especially since the opening at the wrist isn't supposed to have a return edge anyways.
