  3. Paraphrasing De Niro in the Untouchables: "We laugh because its funny, and we laugh because its grody."
  4. Me thinks my original point has been lost like bits and bytes through the Interweb hourglass. This thread was meant to be a commentary on the trend of people building to centurion standards from the get-go, not a cry to dump EIB. Of late I have noted a recent spate of troopers who only sign up to FISD to get their EIB. I view this as a positive sign that EIB is slowly moving beyond the "FISD obsessive build thread trooper" to folks who just want to look better... rather than relish in our forum community. Not a bad sign at all. Aloha, -Eric
  5. Phil: In talking with Ed (TK5707) just now I'm thinking that those clips were made for a properly sized TD and its possible that the TD in question is a smaller diameter. Hence the weird placement of the panel. Mathias: While Phil is totally right. Do you care much? -Eric
  6. Trust me that this trooper has a thick skin and a pretty great attitude when it comes to looking his best. I say fire away at him (in his EIB thread) without mercy. And yes he knows this armor is too small for him -Eric
  7. Holy crapamole. All 79 photos! And here I was sorting through them this morning to suggest which ones to use. LOL I'm glad I checked the forum first. I still contend that you should ditch the original strapping between chest and ab and go with elastic to bring your chest down Clamps is spot-on with his observations. I'm sure our DO will have more to say. Good luck man. -Eric
  8. Jesse: Look to the Ingrid. -Eric
  9. Well... I can tell you what I plan to do based on the fact that Rob trims his kits now for cover strips. I don't know who else has built RT with cover strips. I was hoping to treat them like any other armor. That means measuring half the distance of the width of the cover strip and scoring a line and snapping the overlap off on each half of the part. Sounds scary doesn't it? That's why you should start with a bicep first. -Eric
  10. Jesse.... I cut some white plastic and put them over my overlap shins a test. It looked ridiculous. I wish I had taken my time to just cut the overlaps and put cover strips over them. It would have been a bunch more work but looked great in the end. My next RT kit I plan to get untrimmed and do just that... but it seems these days that Rob will trim your kit in preparation of cover strip construction and send cover strips material to you. If/when the new CRL changes go through you won't be able to go centurion with overlap, but you'll still look like a kickbutt TK. Aloha, -Eric
  11. Am not! Ok... a little bored.
  12. Don't make me change your name to Clamps.... Clamps. -Eric
  13. WTH right back at you.... Why do you assume it was me? I mean... really. -Eric (it was)
  14. My finger is hovering over the "lock thread" button. -Eric
  15. Yep... but I wouldn't cut anything until you wear the whole thing at least a few times. -Eric
  16. Use the search Luke! Enter "hasbro" in the search box and you'll find a ton of people's build threads. Here are two quite excellent ones: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/12522-hasbro-e-11-build/ http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/8838-pandatroopers-hasbro-build/ -Eric
  17. Yep... we're slowly adding tutorials to the TK Information Post link on the main FISD menu. Thanks for noticing. Stand by for more. When I first read the word "Tuts" I assumed you were referring to this (I don't know why I didn't put INGRID in big neon letters on this image): -Eric
  18. To clarify... align the bottoms.... and don't worry about how the top of the back of the thigh will line up. The top of the fronts will line up nicely regardless. -Eric
  19. I say align the bottom and worry about the top later. Just use E-6000 so you can fix it later... chances are you'll want to shrink the diameter of your thighs some. I trimmed mine and I wanna trim some more. -Eric
  20. Geez. Who or why would anyone archive anything on FISD? -Eric
  21. Yo man... If you're willing to show your step by step process from start to finish including measurements these clips are tutorial worthy. Write it up! I concur... Paul's the man for this sort of thing. Here are a few other photos of a screen used thermal detonator from the lucasfilm archive section of the FISD reference gallery that may help: Aloha, -Eric
  22. Mathias is exactly right. The version of the legion forums is too old to support tapatalk. The upgrade is taking a very long time. -Eric
  23. I just upgraded tapatalk on the server. Please let me know if this solves your problem... or makes things worse for anyone else Aloha, -Eric
  24. Yo. The back panel is to mount clips to. I ditched the black panel and put proper clips on it. I use that back TD plate to test paint now Try rustoleum's "smoke gray" with a coat of rustoleum's plastic primer first. Maybe sanding with a 400 or higher grit first before priming to knock the gloss off the PVC. -Eric
  25. Handlers are your solution especially if there is no secure place to leave your gear. I suggest bringing sith cheerleaders wherever you go: ------------ When I troop I do so a plane ride away from my family. I try to keep my phone near by in case they need to reach me. Now that we have a TB that troops often I intend to use him and his pouches as my phone mule. If I need to bring ID and cash for "beverages" I either stuff a ziplock in my glove or Velcro one inconspicuously in my chest plate. -Eric
