As far as TT, on the pricy side for an iffy amp. I would save the scratch and get a hyperdyne. Untill otherwise noted, Hyperdyne has the best IMO. I have the Vortex 2 on order and an Ghostbusters amp in hand and can say great stuff. I HIGHLY recomend the JBL ontour speakers, also Great stuff. Kinda big, I am still looking into the TK uses of the thing, but in my Vader it rocks. I also have the In helmet rig from Skullworks, and think it is a great deal for what you get. I would say though if you are ok with wiring, you could so the same way cheaper. But for a shlub like me, the SW was a great buy. Still Hyperdyne is the king.

Request suggestions on Polishing
Runnriottt replied to huttman's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
HA! Im not the only one that feels this way! I like the lived in look as well... Novus works great though. My Manniquin fell once into my RG lid and a huge red mark insued. Novus and five minutes...clean as a whistle. -
Man I just read up on this thread. That is a great looking lid. I am tossing up the diffternt buckets, (still havent decided) and must admit RT wasnt on the list untill I read this thread. Awsome work... If you ever go into the Bucket biz, I would be second in line behind Exodus...

I bought the kit listed on the site posted, matches perfect. I though wish i saved the money and got a trashcan. Thats a great idea! The look is WAY better filled in. But goodbye bending over all together. (not that I could n the first place)

Two words... Flat Awsome. Two more... Love it.

Safe and fast to ship. I have ordered both Vader and Stormie boots. Air them out, they kinda smell when you get em... The vaders were ok, Bad zipper, but good Customer support. Should have no probs. Most times the number is for security, hack safe stuff...

I am using a set I got from SA a while ago. Kinda a cross between a Novamex with a synth leather center finger trim. I like the look even if not accurate. Downside is they turn my hands black when I sweat. Chem gloves would be horrible to sweat in, yuck...

Hook instead of thermal detonator
Runnriottt replied to Schaf's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
So I am digging around on the RPF prior to posting my pics... and.... *hangs head in shame* I am WAY off. look at the caps in this thread... RPF topic Back to the drawing board... -
I am just waiting on the finished sale of my FX. I am though the one that answered unsure about other armor. I just like to see pics prior to buying. I am sure all partys are great to deal with but right before the cash goes out I am a big fan of pics. The FX is a good kit, looks the part, but just has to many things I wish I could change. So off to another set. I want to get a kit with a helmet and armor in one deal.

Hook instead of thermal detonator
Runnriottt replied to Schaf's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Sorry for the long wait, but I think I am close. I got my butt kicked though on the tines. I made a set out of metal, but I cant for the life of me get them to stay. So I went the plastic route, and they stay. I am still working on a metal set. I would like to send this prototype out, for someone to mold. I think it would be better out of resin or something, for I cannot mass produce. I am willing to give up a "molder" for the cause. I would post pics, but I cant, camera is OOC. Ill get them up when I get home to Japan. Should me about two weeks. Thanks for waiting guys, I hope i pulled it off... -
I am having the same trouble on the Forcepike boards and I own a complete and hopefully accepted TR EU costume. I have emiled the admin a couple of times, but I think the problem is there not well traveled boards, (at least the TR) and it might take some time to get in contact. Just keep trying, I am as well...

What makes an ROTJ stormtrooper
Runnriottt replied to Daetrin's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Kinda crappy screen caps, but it works till i get a DVD for my computer... Hope these help a little on standards. First thing i see id the molding around the armor, and the butt plate seems to be bigger, going around farther. There is a slight gap between. some shots show no TD. Bells are a little narrower, and of course the hands are diffrent. Better shots would be great, but alas the best i can do. Molding on both upper and lower, cloth belt, no TD small gap, rounded back no "tear" stripes cod "buttons?" -
Hook instead of thermal detonator

I am having a time getting the tines to look good. Ill post up some pics this weekend, i know it has been a while. I am at the working with plastic stage on the tines as well. -
I am looking at a new lid this year too. Hopefully a push from the legion speeds up as well as tidys up productuion on helmets. It will be nice to use teh FX as a "display" helm, not the bobble head trooper it is now. Great thread, and an awsome set of observations...

My questions are "FX helmet being on the way out" mean Unacceptable? Not that I am defending it or anything but it dosent look horrid, at least on bigger troops, and is easy to find. Seems in my hunt for a helm the others are a little scarce, or really long wait times... Filling in the sides and canvas belts. I like the canvas belt. filling in the sides looks great as well but if you watch the movies close, especially in EP 6 the majarity of those are not filled in. I guess are these going to be required as well is the big question. Push for a closer FX kit. Can this be accomplished? Is there a way to suggest a smaller helm and other options? Man I wish i could have marched. That would have been great to see.

What is a helmet system worth to you all?
Runnriottt replied to Runnriottt's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I got my SW today and I have to say it ended up worth it. Fans are quiet, and the mic works well. I dont see a need right now for the earphones, but it looks cool... Ill have to get pics up! Now i want to redo my helmet black on the inside. Sheesh... Never finished. Now to finish the hook project... -

I am a machinist for the United States Navy. I joined in 2000 after a dead end job just didnt intrest me anymore. I have seen 15 countries in Asia and love living in Japan. I miss some things about the states, but for the most part want to stay here. I am married to a wonderful Japanese woman and i have two awsome "halfanese" kids. A 3 yr old son and a 3mos old little girl. I love spending time being daddy. I actualy just got into costuming, and have went all out in the last 5 mos. I now own in one shape or another 5 starwars costumes. I am an advid and just as fanacial about Mountain Biking. I own a scratch built Sette Reken and a BAD A** specialized Epic Comp. I gave up cars for bikes. I have built many a muscle car in my day! but thats another story... I would say i like to tinker. Thats what makes me tick. I am a jack of all trades, master of none. I troop for the kids, and i build stuff to calm my mind. Armor building fit right in...

I have read a couple of threads on voice amps and fans. Alot can be said for a well done and stowed system inside your bucket. Looks great if done well. I just got outbid again on a SW amp and fan set. I think I am a little frustrated that something like that can fetch 185 credits. What is your system worth? Those of you with the SW seem to like it, its easy, and looks great. What does it take to do one like that? I hear about radioshack amps, and fans from diffrent makers... but how easy is the wiring and routing? If you could put a price tag on the home built systems how does it stack up next to a store bought in time and function? Opinion Time!

The biker is about the best they make. The Tk helmets i have seen from them dont look that great, i checked them out. I am in the hunt for an AP as well. the FX just looks bobble head on some guys. Hits on my chest plate as well, i guess i need a longer neck. found a pretty good compairason website on helmets. ----------- Hope that helps...

First-time builder - Advice?
Runnriottt replied to Mr. Accident's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
My fear of commitment made me decide to go the velcro route. I tossed the stuff with the kit and bought industrial velcro. my biceps, forarms, and calves are velcroed. I glued the fronts of the thighs, and velcroed the backs. Snaps are the way to go. 100%. secure and easy to put on and off. Making the straps to hold together the armor is a little trial and error, but once you got it, you got it. no streching. just snap and forget. I used a leather belt that i didnt wear anymore for the connection on the upper body, and nylon webbing to hold up my thighs. I think the helmet was my most frustrating part, take your time. I installed the liner from the hard hat, but i dont like it. I say pad it. If you are patient, the kit glue is fine. welcome. If you get stuck, ask away! This is a blast of a hobby! -
Depends on your commitment level I believe. Anything worth doing is worth doing right I believe and that could cost you thousands. A cheap TK looks cheap. I have 1800 invested in armor and accessorys. Thats just the TK. My Biker Scout I have 1000.00, and my Royal Gaurd is in the 650.00 range. Time is your biggest cost, and the willingness to stick to it. Look around the boards, check what you want to do and go from there. Be wary of "good deals" and be ready to spend what you have to to get it right. Just armor I have seen go for as little as 400, but as much as 550. Understand that that is no where ready to wear, and no way a complete costume. You still need other things to complete the look. I hope that dosent derail your intrest, just an honest answer.
