My 20 year old bud here is all about clones... has a RC. when we troop people are always asking what he is, and it drives him crazy,so he has a standard long winded answer about his armor. what the paint means, the game, yadda yadda yadda. makes me laugh every time when a four year old runs to me first yelling "stormtrooper!" TK's are timeless... Clones are cool, just not iconic yet.

I sport the orange pauldron from time to time, but I agree with the fact that TKs are clean. I dont like the handle TX, i never saw them in the movies. I think (opinion time) that accessorys are great in non canon things, and it makes a costume diffrent for contests and things. Thats mostly when i wear mine. I have a sandy pack, ammo pouches and pauldron. When i get a call to troop as a group, ill go clean. I think to do one or the other you must do it right, ab plate, dirt, hand plates, knee armor, the works. Just my opinion though.

I had kinda the same issue, My knee would pinch me real bad between the thigh and the knee. I used self stick foam on the insido of the knee, dosend do it anymore. Mabey you should use a permanant monting for your padding. A cheap knee pad under your body suit might help too. Like a dollar store set for gardning.

TK boot comfort
Runnriottt replied to Butah Fett's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I just ordered my CAboots, I was hoping they were more comfy then the elchepos i have now... two troops and the heels are coming apart. guess ill buy some insoles... I use the gel ones in my work boots though, they have been great. Just cant get lots of miles out of em... navy deckplates are metal. Tons of walking daily. but for a five miler they would work great i think. mabey double up... You all have to tape this march for me, i think marching is great, i am on the rifle team here. dude, storm troopers marching with the armor noise and boots stomping! Thats going to rock! I am so jelous! -
Are you planning to make a full padded suit, one peice? I would like one like that.
-
Now that would be awsome. Padding, colmax and a neck seal. I would pay good for that rig...
-
Count me in when you are ready to do orders! That rocks! I need the pads!

Alternatives to under suits
Runnriottt replied to Butah Fett's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I agree... I personaly like the full hood one... how the heck do you see outta that? -
I am along the lines of every one else... The first time I saw EP4, and the line "Theres one, set for stun" and Leia blasts him, then the other trooper says "She'll be alright" Not even a thought of his bud next to him dead on the ground... I thought wow, thats a bad mutha... So now I wear my armor and hundreds of Japanese people take my pic and kids instantaly reconize who you are. My TB gets a wow or two, but they are fans of the films. The TK is instant reconition. Like someone said before, Rock star Syndrome.

Has anyone got a good quality cog bitmap? I need a high def black on white. Thanks for the help...

I am currently using the hard hat liner, but the jury is out... I think I glued the clips a little to far forward, as it hits my chest armor to much. I might be going to foam, looks cleaner when you show your helmet off to a kid.

Cool. I for one am making that! thanks for the tip!

Anyone use Hot Melt Glue for Armor???
Runnriottt replied to Parabellum's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I just used hot glue on set up, i never ment it to be perminant. example being on the helmet, the manual tells you to use hot glue on the black grill, and it fell off in one day. i have scence used the abs, with a bolt set in. Hot glue dosent bond very well, and is too flexable. the cement is stronger, i cemented the fronts of all the clamshells, velcroed the back. -
chest plate and spacing questions...
Runnriottt replied to Runnriottt's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I fixed the thighs, that was a gotta se how it looks pic, couldnt help it, suit is way to cool! I used the hard hat suspension, and i like the way i can see from the eye pieces, they are almost as close as sunglasses, but i might have gotten the liner to low. My nose is close too the helmet under the lenses. ill try to take a pic to night. could you pm me info on the smaller helmets? Thanks... -

chest plate and spacing questions...
Runnriottt replied to Runnriottt's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I think then i am going to use snaps on the ABS strips i got with the kit to fill the gap. that way it is removable. I am using navy uniform belts for all the suit suspension, they look sharp. Ill have to post pics. One more thing on the chest and back, Might sound silly, but how far can you turn your head? My helmet is almost stationary, it hits the chest. -
Is there another way to keep the upper chest and back together other than the elastic? I have been digging around and dont see one... i think it looks to far apart. thought about a small piece of belt with snaps to the ab plate and back plate... on another note, how much gap do yall think is good in the middle of the ab and back plate? I have been thinking of shiming it solid looking from the back plate.

Hook instead of thermal detonator
Runnriottt replied to Schaf's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Well here is the handle and where i am so far on the protptype. This is solid aluminum, Billit is the word in the machine world, it is light and looks good flat or polished. I still need to make the tines, I will use aluminum also. I have duty tommorow and shoul get it finished. Whatcha think so far yall? handle pics -
OK, so I am building the shin armor... and the instructions say to use velcro on the knee plate and the thigh bangolier... seems kinda loose on a moving part. anyone have a better mounting method? I havent commited to gluing the clamshells yet. I have velcro all around for now untill i get a good fit...
