  6. Hi all, I have just ordered my ESB handguards and got another lid on the way, that will be number 6 so looking at using my display TM as ANH and ESB, will swop the bits around, lid, handguards, belt etc I am going to scratchbuild the greeblies and I want to do a fairly accurate scope, again I will scratchbuild. Would anyone be kind enough to give me basic measurements on both. Even a pic next to a ruler or measure would be a start. I really need just scale and diameter of scope and thickness and scale for greeblies. Very many thanks for your time kind regards graham
  7. Hi all This is the guy i got my multi coloured helmet from that I made HDPE. Not a bad price, has anyone had any dealings or know what the normal lids are like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Stormtrooper-ANH-stunt-helmet-kit-/220726504562?pt=UK_DVD_Film_TV_Film_Memorabilia_LE&hash=item3364532c72 Also advice on this ROTJ http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ROTJ-stormtrooper-helmet-/220727805068?pt=UK_DVD_Film_TV_Film_Memorabilia_LE&hash=item336467048c Many thanks gra
  8. Many thanks, now I understand best wishes
  9. Hi all, not meaning to detract from original post but it looks like S shape trim is wrong for the helmets. This is brow trim, I had this on my fallano hero, is that correct regards
  10. Tell him hi from Graham UK, and thanks for robbing me of £700 for a helmet that was sold as a lie. If you get the goods before you pay cash, and check them, then good on you mate and go for it. And make sure you work out the costs before agreeeing to the price, he doubles/ triples and more the true value of his stuff. Other than that stay well away from this robbing git. I will buy a TE2 next, and I will neve r deal with Matt again Regards
  11. Shipping is really really expensive and I have used all sorts. In the end I found it was cheaper to use an internal courier for the UK and I use parcel2go overseas, its cheapest by far, but i appreciate Johns comments. I sent 2 boxes to US a while back and UK Parcel Force wanted approx £300, Parcels to go did it for less than half. If recieveing I usually ask it to be marked a gift and less than $100 value, it is a gamble but we pay so much import tax here. Basically however you ship you have 2 options. 1. Do it for the right value and with a reputable compnay, and pay a lot. 2. Go cheap and hope things go ok. Even the UK post office is hassle if you need to claim, to be honest I think they are another ball of robbing chalk that have the monopoly on us Brits who have to go with them, so they charge what they like, but that is another story. Regards Gra
  12. hi mate just did 10 sets of cast this weekend. Will finish painting this week, I will PM you when on the selling page, needless to say there is definately a set for you mate ;-) all the best Gra
  13. Thanks guys, I feel privilaged to be part of this community and all the more so when I see how profesionally administered things like this are dealt with I have a few armour bits and pieces, would gladly donate to anyone bitten, please PM if you think it is suitable thanks again gra
  14. Thanks mate, I will do that now, can't leave something so simple wrong after all that painting Best wishes mate gra
  15. Hi mate, yes that is the same helmet. I posted a thread here so you can see the stages http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=14014 I got it from ebay a month ago and not sure of the maker, it has a bumpy back and was cheap, I was always going to do something with it, this just got more and more fun as I tried to get closer to the originals. Hope I got a little close. Best wishes and glad you like.
  16. Hi all, sorry for the title, my joke, but this is what I think one of these beauties might look like if we ever get to find another. I declare this now finished, minus some sand when I finally troop. And just for fun me in the lid I have thouroughly enjoyed doing this lid, actually there is more marks and scuffs that you cannot see in the pics so i can see how the film helmets looked different on screen. I tried to add all the little detail I have learnt on these forums like 2 nickle poppers on the strap, 3/4" strap, hdpe colour, red primer inside with tulip padding, hand painted detail and white tips among other things. THANKS to all for the info you give tht enbles people to enjoy doing things like this. Fnally hoe I recieved the helmet Best wishes Graham
  17. Hi, I used Plasti-kote red primer here and then an overspray of matt white I have also used halfords red in the past and it is very similar Of course the HDPE colour needs adding first and you should be able to see it slightly under the red. Here is my full helmet link, it's nearly doen and I will post this weekend ---- best wishes gra
  18. Hi mate, I do these for £3.50 a pair finished as is plus post. They are one piece casts, painted with the mesh, you're probably not interested if you want the top end but they are clean casts and cheap.(click on the pic and you can see them better) idea was to have ok tips at a good price to start off with, I know what its like when you start buying this stuff :-), you don't stop. I will be doing a run soon and had some interest but I can do you a one off set ASAP if you want some. Only thing not sure of is post to canada but if you want some I will find out. All the best mate. Gra
  19. Hi Caleb, This is what you are after, but being US you will get it a lot cheaper I imagine. Maplin do but not sure what size. It will remove paint with rubbing on a cloth but for best results soak for a little while then rub with a soft tooth brush. This stuff smells strong but it is nearly pure alcohol, it evaporates on your skin very quickly with a cold feeling, they alos use for sterilising. If there are any US guys could you confirm a US link. If not mate just google IPA, Isopropyl alcohol and you will get a US link easy.. I am confident this will work mate, unless it has been painted with some heat resistant space rocket/nuclear weapon paint :-) http://www.mistralni.co.uk/details.php?id=52&gclid=CMa5xI7G-6MCFd_-2AodTTPWIQ
  20. If no joy caleb I still stand by alcohol solution, IPA. I have a link and posted one earlier. I use it to strip paint all the time and its plastic safe keep us posted mate regards Gra
  21. Hi I certainly don't want to be negative as there is a lot of work here and I like this idea, but looking at the castings $60 is way oo steep for me. That is quite expensive and if the castings were clean and better I would go for it. They really need a good RTV mould and cast in quality polyurethane resin to do all the detail justice. Did you say they were moulded in the helmet, there is some distortion on the pieces shape wise but that might be what I am seeing on the picture. A good effort though and a shame as I would like something like this. Best wishes .
  22. hi, This is a fibreglass helmet I made about 3 years ago. It was painted entirely in halford paint and was very sturdy, I gave it to my brother in the end as its not very accurate but the finish came out ok. Halfords primer is a must first as it will not buble with the gloss on top. I still have another 2 to make and I even bought the moulds ;-? not sure why I did that! Regards gra
  23. Hi mate I am doing one now, look at my thread here ------ It might help and any questions by all means ask me Regards Ga
  24. Hi again, hope this thread is not getting too boring :-) Well no matter how hard i looked and tried to convince myself, i couldn't live with the tube stripes as they were. My only option was to sand them back ( luckily I had only done one side) and I repainted the area, this time using decanted spray through my airbrush to save the surrounding area and to feather it in. I noticed that the Sandtrooper stripes appear brighter than normal, it may be the light but I was going for the particular look I could see on screen. I mixed a blue from acrylics this time and used the tube stickers to template the area NOT blue. Once the masking was removed I used a sharp blade to make the lines different shapes as I have seen on original pics. Hopefully you can see the different sizes and a little chipping. Mic tips definatley needed weathering, so masking and a spray of silver. Liquid latex was added following some pics of an original and a spray of black. When the latex was removed I refitted them. Well here I am so far, although may not look like much progress at the minute but getting there. I have a spare green acetate lens and although you cannot see it I have creased one eye, for display it does make it even more battered and original. Can I ask 2 questions. 1. Should the mouth, voice moodule be satin or matt black? 2. Should sandys have black mesh with a black inner ring for the mic tips? Tomorrow its down to painting the greay areas. Also very many thanks to all for the advice and positive comments :-) Many thanks for looking and help on the questions appreciated as I want to keep cracking on. Best wishes Gra
  25. Hi again, Well started on the stripes. I initially added decals, it looked completely wrong and out of context with the helmet as they were far too neat. I resorted to paining and if I am honest I am not totally happy with them. The problem is that the paint I used to paint them is white spirit based, and so is the helmet :-( making clean up impossible without lifting the base coat. I should have used acrylics. Anyway here it is, please comment as it really is appreciated and any advice is appreciated. I am hoping that it has the rough look, its harder than I thought intentionally painting rough. I am used to nice clean finishes. Hopefully the sand weathering will bring it all together but a long way to go yet. One question, some sandys have 15 stripes, should I add more, I think I need 13 at the minimium as this is what is on the 2 lids on Starwars helmets.com http://www.starwarshelmets.com/original-ANH-Stunt-Stormtrooper-armor-helmets.htm King regards
