Hope to speak soon and many thanks, love the Mando Best wishes Gra A great forum page by the way, I love the making side so I will follow this closely

  5. Hi all, I really appreciate the comments and best wishes A good day on casting, I now have these, It took 2 kg of rubber and I am not happy with the centre but my aim is to upgrade that bit, hence the breakdown next, the bits are loose and not glued Also thank someone for plastic polish, TO CLEAN THE WORKTOP BEFORE MY WIFE SEES IT, my not so good workshop and bad casts I still need to do the knobs and handles but all being well it will be finished soon, I am on a deadline as i want to Troop in May-Smally and Woody have been a great help All will have the switch inserts as on the left one, its a plug with a pre sunk hole so you can drill and add the switch lever, it can also be turned for a variety-all up-all.down-all. Up-down/down-up. Please keep looking as I will be doing the hadles and knobs over the next 2 weeks, and the centre changes that I am not happy with Best wishes gra
  6. Hi all Apologies if this is in the wrong thread. I posted this really for MEPD but thought some would like to see my progress. It's just a lot of plastic, rubber and time really but nearly done Well this took me a little longer than I planned and not quite finished but here we are at the minute. All is scratchbuilt, I wont be making another in a hurry :-) The yellow casting are from my initial masters, I cast as I go incase of mistakes and to amend the cast. I have tried to incorporate the little details of the original and to be as accurate as possible. Inner ring for dial and sunken round head rivets. Thanks to Woody I have added the bevel to the edges as the original so it looks less square and harsh, as does the original pic I used. I hope I have the seperate depths about right It measures a fraction over 8 1/2 " by exactly 6.6" The dial cover is seperate and the dial and lense can be added in a recess on the baseplate first. The switches will be optional up/down The centre is seperate to allow it to be fixed to a box with screws, the switches and centre will then cover those Still have to do the dials and redoing the centre-hence no pics of what I have It will be as a complete front unit on plate Will cast one this weekend and post, will offer these later if interested by not yet :-)(they will be quality but reasonable like my tips-this hobby can be v expensive ) Love to hear your comments. Best wishes Master Mould prep Moulds Initial Masters
  7. I had to qualify on one when I joined the RMs in 88. We just called it the SMG. I was 16, I did used to think about SW then as I had been a fan since childhood, but I had other things on my mind. Now it's the other way round You had to be careful of' a runaway gun' Basically the sear that hold the working parts and pin back when cocked, is very weak, they were reknowed for not locking and it would then shoot a full mag of rounds, a large ND on the range. We cocked and only slowly released under hand pressure so we had the power on the cocking pin just in case. Just like Star Wars it was a very inaccurate weapon and was designed for a wide area of shot, you actually felt it drag you to one sid as it fired. a bit like a pneumatic drill jumps around. We were marked on area of shot rather than grouping. And the area was quite big. Sorry a bit of a stealing of thread, but they were used quite late in the 80s and I am sure there are many being used in the forces unofficially, training or stored. Ammunition provision is normally the deciding factor hence the 5.56 SA80 we have. Overseas and in certain circumstances I am sure it is different matter other than what I would normally use. I should go across to the armoury a bit more Gra
  8. Brush marks are ok for ANH troopers I like them As said above have fun, it can always be removed with a lttle alcohol rubbing liquid Gra
  9. I did airbrush once on an old FX. I use an airbrush all the time for my other hobby, but, it was just too neat and took too long to mask. A steady hand and applied in thin layers is the best bet if you want a smooth finish. I actually go for the rougher look as on the screen lids, and intentionally making something look rough, but right, ain't that easy :-) Best wishes Gra
  10. VT often runs sales, you initially saw it during a sale and when you went back it was normal price. keep an eye out as I have seen him do at least 2 sales, one being Xmas, over the last few months. Sorry to repeat Smally, I posted without seeing last post. Best wishes Graham
  11. 'Let's all buy from him and not send payment.' It's been in hand since Friday I actually sent a message and requested if he had anymore helmets as I always wanted a Fallano and armour, knowing full well what he is obviously selling NO REPLY but I guessed that Sold the one I'm wearing in my pic The bid history makes me a bit sheepish though
  12. Thanks Karin I saw your post on the caulk but not sure UK what eqiv was. i tried silicone and it was not good and still wet after 3 days. Very many thanks and sorry for asking a repeat question best wishes
  13. Hi all I have finished my handguards and having trouble gluing them to my rubber gloves, they are military chemical warfare clothes-got a few pairs free from work Will E6000 glue them or what is best to use Man thanks Graham
  14. Not sure if this will be around long
  15. Hi Andy, welcome You will hear a lot of things no doubt about this armour. I personally have owned a set and i loved it, although it was a liitle roughly put together If I was to do it again i would buy it unmade-which you can now, but however you get it I think it is a nice set. I had number 98 of the stunt helmets, the hero and then I got the armour. It was a BIG transition from the FX. Unfortunately I had to sell mine but I am now back on track with all my lids and my TM. I think it certainly LOOKS a TK and that to me matters. I know there will probably be posts about the origins, and I understand, but I think you have a nice set there mate. I got a battle spec kit for xmas for general trooping and did it Empire, a nice lid I think, as is yours All the best graham
  16. Afraid not- I can wish 2 1/2 sets of armour, I say 1/2 as apart from thighs, arms and back I nearly have a 3rd set. I am happy with my TD and TM and Vader. I am building a Royal Guard. i sold my Boba last year and that was quite a set up, will replace it one day So many hobbies and so little time best wishes
  17. Many thanks I wanted to make sure. Saving yet again :-) best wishes
  18. Thanks Smally, You understood EXACTLY how I felt with that ? , hence my answer. Best wishes to you mate and all Gra
  19. Hi all I understand all the diferrences between stunt and hero Mu question is that I have my TM armour, not started yet as I am building on my Sandy. I have all the lids except hero( inclu rojt and esb) TM makes the most accurate helmets of all, IMO, is it ok to convert one of his normal to a Hero or should I buy one specific for this. I have owned fallano hero before I have accurate ears and lenses ( thanks to Johndanter- brills mate)-there is only a very very slight difference in colour, but do not want to ruin a perfect TK stunt. I know I am talking minor things but is this acceptable. Paul, please advise best wishes Gra
  20. I agree with as John says and I would love a ROTJ. Depending on the work you want to do, there are a few options-but as now JoeR is offering a ROTJ-I would go that way You would be forward dating a ROTJ orig, that was made ANH , and now making ROTJ again. That is how I understand the armour we have now ( with the exception to TM) So why make life hard. They are good prices and its all there, ROTJ as ROTJ WE NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD Best wishes
  21. It's the same now for all those serving, forces or TK. I once had a high number and was coffee maker , now 23 years later I get my coffees made, I buy the biscuits sometimes Old School Can we have the newest forum member making the wets (joking) best wishes
