  1. Just a opinion I would make the forearms smaller, what size outer strip are you using. I am 160 lbs and mine are 15 forearms and 20 for the thighs. I would also try and put the elastic strap in that connects the forearm and bicep in, to lose the black in elbow area. If you are ever going to go for centurion I would also replace the side rivets with split rivets. Other than that looks like a great build , you have it looking good for such a tall guy, good luck!

    ANH in Navajo

We have been asked to participate in this showing of ANH in Northern AZ, for the Navajo nation
  3. Then you are the perfect fit for AP armor as that is my kit also, just make sure you put it together using the butt joint method. all you really need to buy is white elastic for the shoulder straps and the drop boxes and shin closures. Then nylon for the thigh straps and side closures. Finally black elastic for the cod piece to butt plate. Then some off white or white duck cloth(canvas) for the belt and sew on Velcro. I would not use any other Velcro for the rest of the armor the helmet I would get better aerators and green welding lenses. I would also get the proper split rivets for the side and cod, and the proper ammo knee rivets. Here is where I would go and see what is best to use, I would buy these so you buy the right ones first instead of buying twice and having to redo It. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/tutorials/article/6-ddays-combined-on-going-accessories-listing/
  4. Depends on how you want to build it, screen accurate or easy to wear. I personally like the screen accurate way and I think it is comfortable. also depends on your body height and weight, I am lucky I am the perfect height and weight. I am currently helping a new TK and he is 6'1 and probably 165. We are using the screen accurate metal brackets and elastic for the chest, back, cod piece, butt plate, ab and kidney. The the white elastic for the shoulders and black nylon for the side clam shell. I would go the the TK information post, DDays ongoing resources and look at all the stuff members on here are selling to make your kit more accurate. Then go to the how to section and there is everything on there to show you how to put it all together. At lastly if you are stumped ask away and I am sure somebody will and can help you. Good luck and take your time, I can make a kit in two weeks but that is doing it every day for four hours, since you are new take your time measure twice and cut once.
  5. Thank you all for the comments, I could not have done it without the help of FISD and it's troopers. I want to thank all the vendors on here for there superb merchandise. Every piece I needed for centurion I got on here and it made for a easy build and a accurate build now I am helping all the new and old TK's in my garrison and helping them get there kits to be more accurate. thanks guys you all made it possible.
  6. Yeah from now on all the builds I help in the dsg I make sure they don't cut the ab piece, stupid old threads made me do it. No it is green welding lens I forget which number, wow I just looked at the lens pic and you are right it does look blue, it was a pain to get the picture I tried not to use the flash but then the picture came out to dark. I need to figure out a way to take a picture without the flash but bright enough to see the green lens. I used novice number 2 and soapy water in a bottle, that way I could spray into the cracks, it was still really dirty after I had cleaned it for a couple of hours with just the novus and the pressure from the bottle shoot the fullers earth out of all the cracks. I had a filthy rag when I was done but it was worth it, made my armor look like it was brand new when I was done. If I wasn't trying to go for centurion I might have just left it dirty and gone either sandy or HWT but my girl likes it better clean and I had to listen.
  7. I did all the stuff you asked me to fix, is there anything else I might need to fix.
  8. Are you on the DSG forums? We have a lot of people locally that can help you. We are having a armor party on the 22nd of this month.
  9. ok here are the new and improved changes first I cleaned the armor, painted the E-11 and then changed out the butt plate snaps with the same snaps and my kidney snap.
  10. Looked at all the ANH pics and couldn't find a pic big enough to really show the butt plate snaps.
  11. Cleaning it is no problem was going to do it any ways, and another coat of paint on the blaster is to easy also, on the rivet for the butt cod piece should I just use a normal male snap, I did notice on a couple of builds that people are using those instead of a rivet on one side and a male snap on the other side. I was under the impression that there was supposed to be a rivet but I can change that and the E-11 tonight.
  12. Yes Daniel I did about two hours of cleaning probably need to do another hour and get into all the cracks.
  13. Yeah I know I still remember the rainbow you tried to put for my EIB picture. None taken it all good already forgotten bro. if anything it is me that should be apologizing.
  14. No worries just jump the gun a little, my apologizes. I just put a lot of research in this build and have changed a lot of stuff to try and get it as accurate as possible. Talk to Mr. no strips he sold them to me and told me they were accurate! yeah I don't use the black elastic on my build anymore at the time that is all I had, I was thinking of changing them but nobody can see them once they are on my shins. also I don't sew so none of my snaps on the shoulders are the correct ones either. I am just trying to get as accurate with the stuff I can find easiest.
  15. Oh believe me I could have came a lot harder and I did tone down my response, I did a lot of research over the years and have changed many things on my kit over the years. This is my second AP set and I have corrected a few things that I did wrong in the first one. I just don't like when somebody says something and they don't have any idea what they are talking about, if he would have been a EIB or centurion status then I will listen to what they are saying and probably change what is wrong with my lit. But when somebody doesn't know and is neither status then maybe they should just view and not make a comment or probably send a P.M. Again not mad I can take constructive criticism, just would rather take advise criticism from somebody who knows what they are talking about. Your build has been to a high standard, I love your attention to detail, your bicep hooks etc I feel that the curve on your knee ammo strap is a little shallow in curve shape. I am very surprised that someone of 5,10" would cut the AB Cod, I can't see a reason for it. And may I ask how much you removed from the bottom of your shins to shorten them by? Good luck with your application. On the curve I used a paint can just like in a thread shown here and trimmed out from the line. On the ab/cod piece I had did this on my other AP and liked that I could go to the bath room easier, I have had this kit for a little over three years. After doing a ton of research and seeing how they used the brackets and screws I have since gotten rid of the snaps, just wish I had never cut the cod like I did. I never took out any material just did it to hinge it and I never had the cod to butt snap. Know I do and I love how they did it back in 76, every suit I help my garrison members I make sure the cod is not cut. Finally I hate how a lot of TK's thighs look so I cut a little off the top of the thigh maybe a inch and then on the shins I cut off another inch so I could have a little more black in between my thighs and shins. I also find that it makes it easier to walk. I spent many years redoing this armor trying to get it as close to centurion as possible, probably to many hours just pouring thru how to and other centurions builds. thank you for looking and commenting good or bad. just please make sure you know what you are talking about.
  16. I don't know how long you have been in the 501st but the eye socket is AP and it is supposed to be like that, also you need to check other threads as the screws are screen accurate. You need to do a little research before you say stuff you don't know anything about.

  18. I was lucky that at my job I was able to get onto the internet, so I was able to read, read, and read some more. I use everything I have read into my suit, and now I am going to be putting in for centurion. Just take the armor one step at a time, I see a lot of legs that don't fit right. what I do is put the torso together first, then do the arms and legs next. that way you can shorten the thighs or the shins if you are not tall enough. If you research enough you will be taught on how to clam shell your torso and how to make a return edge. If somebody was closer then they could show you how to do it, I have helped the last three TK's in my garrison make theres to EIB standards. Since I am the GML then I know the armor is put together correctly and should be a easy pass. The only problem is the lack of correct boots but that should not be a problem very soon.
  19. I have the brackets and I love them, I did have the snaps and I got tired of them coming undone. I trooped three days in a row with the brackets for the star wars commercial and the only problem I had was that the nuts came loose, I just tightened them up after each day and I was fine. I don't do any crazy movements and I only have one area where the screw is making the plastic crack, but I will just make some abs paste let it dry and then drill a new hole. In those three days I trooped 10 hours each day and I had no problems with my set up.
  20. The rivet for the ammo knee is in the wrong place or I should say the ammo knee belt is sitting too high. Also if you are going EIB the rivets on the sniper plate could be problematic, but other than that it looks good.
  21. Congrats buddy a lot of hard work but it was worth it in the end.
