  1. You can see pics of my test fit on my build thread here:--------- I've made some changes since then, mainly just tightening things up, straightening and centering the chest and back and I've also enlarged the biceps since then because they were tight and chaffing my inner elbow when I would bend my arms. I'm ready for my EIB application but have been so busy trooping I haven't had time to take the pics, lol. Did you glue them together with E6000? If so you can pull it off (carefully) to make a bigger gap, that's what I did. Just make sure you clean up the excess old glue before you reattach. My chest is a 44 btw and I am working on closing the gap between the shoulder bells and chest piece, just working on a better system. LMK if you need more info, or more up close and personal pieces of specific parts, I can take some pics on the weekend.
  2. I have an AP and it is a close match to that of an original (said that as politically correct as possible to avoid backlash The actors were generally 5 '10 and 150-175 pounds and built like lacrosse players I'm 5,11" about 205 and built like a linebacker. So this is what I did: - Cut extra and didn't generally follow the cut lines (apparently AP cast from an ROTJ suit which was designed to overlap, not buttseam like ANH) - Increased the size of the finishing strips to 20mm for the arms and 30mm for the legs - definitely had to shim the biceps and thighs, the biceps I shimmed at the back which allowed for a much cleaner finish on the front (you can really see the back biceps anyways - Monster of a shim job on the thighs cuz of my tree trunk legs - about 28" around. For this I had to buy extra ABS Even with the mods tho, I think it turned out great, now that I'm out trooping and seeing up close and personal some of the other kits out there, I just love the AP. It would be a shame if you didn't troop in it.
  3. I have an AP and absolutely love it. My head is 7 5/8" and it is tight getting it on, but once it's on it's fine. I have two fans, mic and a wireless unit in the back. My 2 cents
  4. I also have an ongoing run of 80 gauge ABS sheets. ----- PM me if you're interested.
  5. Thanks guys! It's really cool to see all of these different ideas. I was in the hardware store on friday and looking around at all the options (Michael's is in another city about 20km's away) and it was actually pretty funny what I came across. "Mighty Putty" the as seen on TV product as promoted by the late great Billy Mays, lol. It was $10 and takes 20 mins to seal/harden after it's activated. A very quick and easy solution and it worked GREAT! Zero mess and very little time. Thanks again, PS - My first troop was awesome! It was a library event for kids, a whole day of pics and autographs. We even popped in and suprprised a birthday party at the same community centre. Can't put it into words what an awesome feeling it was
  6. Thanks for chiming in with the Canadian Content Terry Looks like this is the way to go, I'll try it tonight.
  7. That's a cool idea, I wonder if I can find this Fimo stuff (or equivalent) in Canada. I also, like your idea of "doubling up" definitely gonna do that too.
  8. Thanks Noel, but my issue is that they're two separate pieces that are just slightly bigger than the eyes, not one big strip which would be a lot simpler. There's not a lot of surface area so you can't really get glue in there. I've read that some people use putty for reinforcement to increase the contact area, but I don't have the time for something like that. Thanks for trying and sorry for not being clear before
  9. Hey Guys, I've been searching around and can't find a thread on this, so if I missed it and you can point me in the right direction that would be great. Otherwise, I have an AP lid and some stellar flat green lenses from Runnriott (thanks Nathan) but can't figure out for the life of me what would be the best way to install them. I've tried double sided tape and some extra foam that I had laying around, but it wasn't sturdy enough. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have my first troop on Sat! Thanks,
  10. Lol, nice post Paul - and Congrats Terry!
  11. Hey Bill, Requesting 501st status sir. http://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=11738&costumeID=124 Thanks in advance! Matt
  12. Thanks Terry, you're right the forearms kept sliding down on me, forgot to mention that. Just heard from Roy and I've just been accepted into the 501st! TK number on the way!
  13. Hey guys, here's an update of the test fit. Need to straighten and raise the belt, as well as raise the thighs. Also need to secure the chest and back and most importantly need to install fans in the buckets as soon as they arrive, man is that hot in there! Don't mind the Ewok that snuck into one or two of the pics, lol. Critique and comments always welcome. -------
  14. Congrats Tom! Thanks for all of your help!
  15. Congrats to the "Primoris Centum Proeliator!" (First One Hundred Warriors) You guys are the pinnacle example of what it is to be Stormtrooper.
  16. Thanks guys! The stress of my first build is clearly effecting my searching capabilites, lol.
  17. Hi Guys, I know I've came across this, but I've spent the last half-hour digging and can't find anything. I seem to remember on the right side of the ab and cod there is one rivet showing on either side (so two total) at the very top? If someone could quickly confirm or deny it would help my mental health Thanks!
  18. Could you please post pics when you're done? I'm interested in doing something similar. Thanks!
  19. Cheers Paul! Here's to the second 8k being as good as the first!

Lots of good advice here Robert, my only addition would be in the meantime turn troops into vacations. There's Fan Expo in Toronto here in the Summer, and Celebration V in Orlando as well. The main thing is don't feel bad about what you do, be proud. Once people see you in armour and how awesome you look, I'm sure they'll opinions will turnaround.
  21. In my kit, the biceps were the same as well.
  22. Well, as it turns out, no matter what I did, the double left close looked like garbage, so I ripped off the finishing strip and the extra amount of torque actually helped the seal, lol, go figure. As usual Terry, you are the master I guess I'm pig headed sometimes and have to try things the hard way, lol.
  23. Thanks Terry, I don't have a heat gun, but I think the way I config'd it there should be minimal gap. Time will tell tonight when the glue is dried and I can try it out. Stay tuned!
  24. Uh oh, Terry's not going to be happy with me So I had initially planned on doing the overlap like mentioned above, but the AP kit is clearly designed for a left overlap and IMHO I thought it would take some serious torque or heat to correct. Due to larger legs I had to cut a little differently, so hopefully it works out. I'm just waiting on glue to dry, when I do I'll see how it looks and post some pics.
