adjusted sds battle spec face plate
Marvinrobot replied to TK1491's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Beautiful helmet, is that an AP? -
Sorry it took so long, here is a picture. It does give mobility but with the shape of my armor, I'm considering going to a something else, because the front edges poke out sometimes after several hours trooping. I was thinking of using spandex bike shorts that would go as a long strip all the way across with buttons to attach it. It should still give me lots of mobility, but more stability on those front edges. anyways here is what I have, you can see what I mean.

Outstanding!!! Now if we could ever actually all meet at once that would be one hell of a photo.

I used two elastic straps folded over to form V. I then added snap buttons at the bottom of the V and at the top of each leg. On the inside of the armor I used small ABS pieces to attach the other side of the snaps. I hot glued this to the inside. so that when the kidney plate is attached to the tail the V is upsidedown. That way the tail is attached at two points to a single point on the kidney plate. I will post pics when I get back home and have access to my photos.

We should all keep Tony and his family in our prayers.

Ferengi are we allowed to use such language in here?

Since I carry the movies on my Zune for quick reference (of course I own the DVD's...geez) I took a quick look and they tried to appease fans a little bit because Han and Greedo shot alot more simultaneously than when the first SE came out. but Greedo clearly shots first there. On top of that Han's blaster must be like one of those trick squirt Mr. X. because the laser comes up at an angle relative to the direction he's pointing and makes a slight left turn over the table to fry Greedo. what I find interesting and Blue Harvest makes fun of this, despite all the changes made why did he still lazily list to the left after saying "I know some maneuvers" I always thought if they were going to screw with it then that was one scene that should of been changed to show the much more agile falcon of ESB.

Possible LFL licensed TK armor
Marvinrobot replied to giric thren's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
This has already popped up on my Garrison board and I went off there as well. One point that was brought out was that we have members who basically buy assembled armor as it stands, so what's the difference? I could see that point especially for those that distinguish trooping from costuming. To me the two go hand in hand if you are going to be serious 501st, that's why like many others I have an FX but it's got a big target on its back, I know I am moving from Italy this summer, once I get settled back in the states I will take the plunge into the sweet world of TE2, no reason to worry about 2 sets of armor getting damaged in a military move. Alex, My son loves the Ravin Rabbids...AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! -
Possible LFL licensed TK armor
Marvinrobot replied to giric thren's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
That was exactly my thought...honestly, is it not a rite of passage to basically construct your armor? Sure some started out trimmed while others worked from scratch but I think we all agree that we have put many hours into this hobby called costuming. If the Legion ever allowed this sort of trooper to join the ranks I seriously think they would be seen as a second class trooper, call me a snob but I don't think "trooper-in-a-box" is in the best interest of the Legion. -
As I sit patiently waiting for my Garrison to approve my membership request I thought I would ask some of you vets a question concerning multiple costumes and subsequent ID numbers...so how does that work? I'm guessing my first ID is going to be TK-XXXX, but I'm also just one step away (weather/dirty the armor) from being TD-XXXX. I'm actually torn only in the sense that being a military guy loyalty is a huge thing for me, that being said I naturally feel inclined to being a TK since this community has been such a great help. Maybe I've gone off the deep end, because after all it is just plastic...did any of you face this same dilema. It's kind of the age old question which Frat house do I pledge to?

I'm only missing the tusks and the mod kit for my blaster (both ordered) all other requirements are met, though I will be one of those FX Elites.

Congratulations to the all on the command staff!!! Look forward to this coming year especially as I should have my Legion ID in the coming weeks.

Thanks for the visual Jonah, hats off to you that is much more elaborate than I expected. I thought I was going to get a picture of a dude in briefs ala SW Lego Beach Trooper. Now that would be funny

OK so here's a stupid question...what does the armor look like under the robe? I remember the figure reminded me of a red Vader, is that the case? Sorry about leaving the TR's out

I know there are many more derivations I tried to break it down to simplest, just thought this would be an interesting poll.

My own home-made TK vox system...
Marvinrobot replied to John's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Looking good. Actually, my cheap but started looking into actually building a voice FX board because honestly, all I want right now is that silly (chrzzz) when I stop talking. So I figured if I can make it really cheap then all the better. Good luck on the rest of it. -
I think in simplest terms...costuming clubs are about learning to prop and costume make, the 501st is about sharing one's passion for Star Wars and believing in causes greater than oneself (charity work). Troopers have real lives, not everyone has the time or in some cases the talent to work every part of their costume. Members in clubs help each other out. FISD is an open forum to introduce people who are interested in becoming a 501st TK to the art of costuming. The reason armor is not just openly listed is becacause unscropulous people would then show up..."Hi I'm a big fan I want to buy armor what's the most accurate" and turn around and sell it on E-bay as "Screen accurate made from orginal and 2d generation molds" for big dollars. That's like stealing from your family! and I for one don't want that kind of trash trolling on the boards. Of course present company exclude...
