  1. I guy I trooped with had his cod seperated for the bathroom factor...didn't look bad
  2. I take it you attached with elastic and snap...
  3. Anybody have a tutorial or diagram on seperating the cod and tail? I have a basic idea on what I want to do but just want to double check with others who have already done it. Obviously I'm dealing with solid ab pieces.
  4. I see a common trend here...If you are going to do it, do it right.
  5. Wondering if you all had any further opinions on these boards. I know the TIC is fairly new. Basically, I have a decision to make between a TE2 helemt (I know what Guns would say) and spending bucks to add sound to my current big bucket. I'm pretty sure the new bucket shold be priority but I wanted to get you alls advice.
  6. Here is a great mod for those that are tired of "pulling up your pants" because your thighs are connected to your abs. I found an old hiking pack and stripped everything. I used the padded belt portion, two straps with buckles already attached, some snap buttons, small ABS squares and hot glue and viola instant thigh harness that keeps your thighs in place. Obviously, I got the idea from that production photo showing a guy laying on the groun with his thighs on. It works great. The belt portion is hidden by the utility belt.
  7. Now that was a great discussion. Spot on in my opinion the issue of representing an Icon because that's what people see. They don't see my giant FX bucket as being slightly big (which it is) they just enjoy suspending reality for that brief second to relive a childhood memory. That's why people want photos with us even when we have our helmets off they still don't see us they see a Trooper! I definitely did not see all the inconsistencies (and I've watched the films a million times like you all have) until I was actually building the armor and was trying to land somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. Personally I did not want people saying he looks like a Trooper, I wanted them to say he is a Trooper. My favorite question thus far from a 10 year old boy..."Is that real?" My answer was simply "Go ahead knock on it", his eyes lit up when he banged on my forearm and he ran off to tell his mom he met a real Stormtrooper...that's officially the moment I was hooked.
  8. Ok so I'm sure this has been debated numerous times but I love to see the arguments. So should saying "screen accurate" mean inaccurate? I'm sure this has been said before...If we were all door guards on Bespin then we'd all wear our biceps backwards. Your thoughts?
  9. The Iron Maiden!!! Acutally my musical tastes are all over the place, but I would consider Iron Maiden a safe bet for rocking out. Old Metallica and Megadeth works too, but Maiden generally tops my Heavy Metal list. If you're gonna die...die with your boots on!
  10. Looks terrific. I wis my first attempt would have gone so well. I the initial hole were a bit smaller than they should be and because my stickers did not fare so well I ended up painting my frown and despite all my carreful attempts at masking things appropriately I ended up with a really thick frown...would hve been fine if I had intended to go ROTJ with a black frown. SO now I'm at it again. Hopefully this time I nail it because I'm going to run out of plastic if I don't. Here is my current, will post final results later.
  11. Well maybe not which is better...but what are folk's personal opinions...for instance I get the distinct impression that FX suits are not looked at in a positive light...or maybe it's just the king size buckets...personally I love my current FX suit and it was very convincing at our Halloween event (I'm the one with the officer pauldron)...I guess my bud and I did a good job putting it together because this picture was after 2.5 hours trooping and surviving being mobbed by a large group of drunks and numerous kids...gotta love those fans!!!
  12. I just finished running through the history of the armor. Ok so now I am completely confused between all the accusations and septerfuge back and forth on the origins of molds. All I want to know is based on utility, comfort, accuracy, and durability what is the rank order of all these different armors people make mention of. Bottomline, someday I'll be ready to upgrade from my current FX suit to something better and right now I can't make heads or tails about where would I go next.
  13. I actually got my armor from Costumejunkie three months ago. I opted for the put it yourself together gig. I had zero problems and everything arrived as promised in very quick fashion. He actually answered my e-mail inquiries, but since everything I ordered came as promised I had no further dealings with him after the initial sale set up. My friend on the other hand had some issues because his box got wet in shipping from the states damaging decals. He actually got replacement stickers though it took several attempts. He also found as he built his armor that the thighs did not exactly match, but he never got resolution on that. I did get the impression that costumejunkie is just a middleman to get stuff from the FX folks because of where the armor shipped from. Thus the price mark up. I will pobably go Sandy with this first armor, but not till I have a second. I will admit that I had the impression the 501st would only accept folks who had already built an initial armor, but I probably did not really research enough. Needless to say I am glad that Im now hooked up with the 501st in Italy and one of the armorers lives in my town...wish I would have known prior to spending all the cash. Though I think convinving my wife about building a second armor won't be as bad since it will be consierable cheaper.
