  2. Approval Pictures I met up with one of the local recruits to have a small photoshooting with his scout and towards the end, we used this opportunity to take the Approval pictures for my ESB TK. Remember to use a contrasting background, unlike myself (Glen has an excellent guideline for this) and to take the pictures with good (natural, indirect) lighting and with the camera at face height. Here's the classic front, left, right, back overview (if a bit trimmed due to the collage). Then there's the buckets-off picture, a close-up on the holster and similar important details, as well as the action shot (all cropped differently for the collage!). Since I don't have an ESB E-11 yet, I went with this pose instead. Don't forget to try out different poses, so you can find one that you like All done, I submitted the pictures to the GMOs/GMLs and am now waiting for feedback. As always, thanks for reading along!

  3. Greetings all We have just opened a new section of the forums today and it is officially launched with Justjosephs magnificent E11 blaster up for auction with all proceeds going to charity. What is the new section? Where do I find the new section? This new forum is located 501st & Detachment members section of our forums. What is this new section for? This new forum is for all things charity related. An example like Justjoseph, you may wish to build something FISD costume related and then auction it off to fellow members donating all proceeds to charity. This is about doing something not just for our community but helping make a difference to a charity. This is an area of opportunity for our members to band together and create ideas to benefit others, raise funds for our own legacy charity JDRF or even charity of your choosing. This is what we do, so lets help each other in the name of FISD and make a difference. We do have some rules that need to be adhered to for total transparency as most would well expect, but if you have any questions or ideas, please reach out to the staff as we are here to assist. This new section will expand out with the possibility of sub forums to cater for ideas, discussion charity events, and possibly a "How can we help" area, so stay tuned for further updates. Many thanks to gmrhodes13 for the banner creation for our new section.

  4. This is a dynamite looking set of armor, Steve, and although your goal is only Basic approval, with a few upgrades you could be the first trooper with 3D printed armor to reach EI! I can't begin to wonder how much time you spent sanding and filling those pesky print lines, but the end result is truly spectacular, sir. If I could make a few suggestions, the first would be is that I agree with Reese about the calves. It's difficult to tell from the photos how large your calves actually are, but there seems to be quite a bit of room on the sides (photo 2). The ones seen in the film had more of a taper rather than being so large at the top, making them look more like those seen on a Clonetrooper. Reference images Just an FYI, andI'm sure it will not affect approval at Basic, but the width of the hexagon on the sniper knee looks quite a bit wider than those seen onscreen. The designer of the files that this was printed from obviously has a keen eye for detail, but it needs some need tweaking. As seen below the indented line around the TD plate has curved corners, and the raised "O" does not have those little projectiles on the top/bottom and is more of a rounder shape rather than an oblong. The positioning of the "buttons" that face the rear? You NAILED it! Reference image Overall I would give this build a 9.5, Steve. I'm danged gad to see that someone has stepped up to the plate and finally shown us that 3D armor has truly earned it's place. Well done, sir!
