Need Help Ask the Deployment Officers Advanced Tactics Awards Public Relations Staff List 2020 Follow FISD Remembering Terrell Reber As we all know, Terrell Reber (owner of ATA) and his wife, Traci, lost their battle with Covid last year, leaving behind a 16 year old son. A year ago this weekend, Terrell started thinking of coming out of retirement when he found out a mutual friend of ours has been hosting immersive Star Wars themed fundraisers since 2015. Sadly, he never got that chance, as he passed a few weeks later. Today (November 6th), their son, Tyler, suited up in his dad’s armor and took his dad’s place trooping with the Great Lakes Garrison at this year’s fundraiser. link to video on our Facebook group. https://www.facebook.com/100000143623914/videos/pcb.1115694322395526/1144135676480500 Chris joined Garrison Carida and the 501st in December of 2019. He was unable to troop a lot due to the pandemic, yet he managed to engage with his garrison in his short time as a member, before becoming ill. His friends from Garrison Carida nicknamed him "Tusky". When he was diagnosed with leukemia and was in the hospital for an extensive stay, our members joined forces to help him pass the time by getting as many Legos to help keep his spirits up while he was there. Many members joined together and donated to surprise him with many Lego sets, as he was always building them. They knew this would lift his spirits up during those tough times. He is survived by his wife Jen, his parents, sister, and niece & nephews, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. All those who knew him will miss Chris, his spirit, and the pride he had in Carida Garrison and the 501st Legion. "Buckets Off" César Augusto Moreno Salcedo (TI-30106) was a beloved member of the Colombia Garrison who was called home on 18 October 2020. To this day, he is remembered well by his fellow troopers and friends, who have ensured that he will be remembered by the 501st Legion forever. César, you were a great unconditional friend, loyal, wonderful being full of joy, tireless collaborator and dedication to others. With your positive energy you created fun times, wonderful experiences and great moments of laughter and joy for everyone around you. You taught us that despite your youth, you could embody grace and positivity in difficult times, and to face setbacks with courage and a positive attitude. You passed through our lives leaving an indelible mark of happiness. You will always live in our hearts and your light will never fade. "Buckets Off" Eternal Legionnaire Gallery: https://www.501st.com/members/memoriam.php Greetings fellow bucket heads Welcome to Novembers addition of our news letter. Plenty happening around the detachment currently with our old school FISD hoodie merch run wrapping up in about a week, so if you are a full FISD member and you haven't checked out this cool design, you better get on it before it closes off on the 20th November. We also have a design competition running for our Celebration London patch, so if you have some skills jump on the forums submit a design and yours could be chosen as the winner. The winner not only gets the Kudos and bragging rights becoming a part of the detachments history as the designer, but also receive a couple of the patches for free. We are getting very close to our next CRL, the Mortar/Artillery trooper from the Mandalorian series. Yes it's been a while coming so stay tuned for the final announcement and pending green light from the LMO team. We also remember Terrell Reber (ATA) Affordable Trooper Armor, with a memorial just below. If you knew him, you totally understand how important he was not only to FISD and many of our members, but everyone who was lucky enough to cross paths with him. New section on the forums: Today we officially launch a new section of our forums Charity and Fundraisers here This latest addition is the beginning of an In house area for charity auctions, fund raising ideas, discussions and more as it expands out over time. We open it today with a charity auction held by our chief Deployment officer Joseph Pedigo (Justjoseph63) who has built a beautiful E-11 at his own expense and will donate the winning bid to our legacy charity JDRF on behalf of FISD. This is a most generous offer by Joseph and we hope to see other members getting involved with similar projects in the name of charity on our forums. Detachment affiliation Hopefully everyone did their census this year to stay in touch with Legion and updated with your costumes. I had a few reach out to me regarding missing or expired affiliation. All you need to do to prevent this from happening is simply log into the forums once a year. The only thing affiliation actually changes is your ability to vote in detachment elections every February, so don't stress about your access to these boards, that wont change. If for some reason you do find your affiliation isn't linked to FISD, you can always send me a PM and in most cases fix it. Legion also do a mass update every year before the election period to pick up any that have fallen off the affiliation in case you logged in after the census period. We are looking to change the banner at the top of the FISD forums. In the near future we will open up a thread and accept ideas and also designs for a new banner to replace what we are currently using. Recently we reverted back to our old header from the anniversary version we ran up to July. That's it from me, hope you enjoy this edition and see you on the forums. For those of you who have a creative mind and mad design skills, it's time to step up to the plate and possibly have your original artwork used as the official logo by the FISD for next year's Celebration in April. We are starting this contest early (in case there are delays in shipping) as we want to get these in your hands in time for the big weekend next May! The winning entry will be made into FISD Merch, first as a patch, but possibly other mech depending on the design. Your design will be worn and traded by hundreds (and seen by thousands) at this event. So how do you enter? Glad you asked! Here is the low-down: How to enter and more information here Competition Closes 29th Nov 2022 With Unquestioned Loyalty James Silvius TK-12953 "jsilvius" Merchandise & Branding Officer For those aiming for higher levels of approval with ANH Hero armor, please be aware that the CRL for Expert Infantry has been updated, specifically for the Hovi mic tips. The update is an addition to the present requirements and the new ones are shown below in bold font and underlined: "Correct Aerators/Hovi-MIX tips are present. Screens used shall be of a wide type mesh. The rim of the mic may be weathered, and the inside raised area painted white. Interior sides shall be painted black, mesh can also be painted black". The reason for these updates is for better screen accuracy, as there is overwhelming evidence that the vast majority of the Hero helmets seen in the film were painted in this way. "FISD Memes" Thank you to Luca "Morgi" TK-66744 for starting a FISD specific meme thread, hope to see more of these in the future not only by you but by others as well. You can find the thread here. WE NEED YOU TO UPDATE YOUR BUILD THREADS As most would be aware we are diligently working through the forums updating watermarked images, missing images and broken links, this has taken over a year so far and has been a monumental task but there is still a lot of work ahead of us. Members build threads are one of the biggest areas of watermarked/missing images and we are asking you the membership to help and update your build threads yourselves as this is just too big a task for staff. Build threads requiring updates are being moved over to this area https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/241-build-threads-requireing-maintenance/ Thank you in advance for your cooperation. New FISD Tri-Fold Brochure It's been quite a long time since we actually had these available and since then many things have changed leading us to updating some of the text to include new costumes, and have more relevant information. Originally these were done in a limited run by the member who created them, but nowadays, we have moved this to a print your own service making them accessible to all countries around the globe. Files are available to all full 501st members on request, and are completed in a very high resolution to ensure quality in a finished product. The thread can be found here for more information and how to access the files. We have just opened a new section of the forums today and it is officially launched with Justjoseph63's magnificent E11 blaster up for auction with all proceeds going to charity. What is the new section? Where do I find the new section? This new forum is located 501st & Detachment members section of our forums. What is this new section for? This new forum is for all things charity related. An example like Justjoseph63, you may wish to build something FISD costume related and then auction it off to fellow members donating all proceeds to charity. This is about doing something not just for our community but helping make a difference to a charity. Currently as of 12 November 2022 there are 31,565 approved costumes in the legion, out of these under FISD there are 5.319 which is 16.85% of all approved 501st costumes. This percentage has been dropping steadily for the last few years, the larger the legion costume totals grows the smaller amount of TK's there are. As a comparison when I started we had just under 25% of all costumes in the Legion, that was almost 10 years ago. It is still quite amazing that there are so many FOTK's compared to say Hero's or ESB's, many don't realize these version costumes can be achieved quite easily with only swapping out a helmet and a few other items, you can see which items in this comparison PDF Info can be found on the legion holocron ANH E-11 Build Auction for JDRF Joseph "justjoseph63" has just completed an absolutely beautiful and detailed 3D printed ANH E-11 which he is auctioning off with the funds going to JDRF, for those of you who do not know JDRF is FISD's charity of choice. This auction will run from Nov 13 until December 3rd and is open to all members of the FISD in the U.S.**, regardless of 501at approval status. If you can see this thread you can bid! 100% of all proceeds will be donated to the JDRF (our official Detachment charity) in the name of the FISD. ** Due to international postal regulations this cannot be shipped outside the U.S. Sorry! ** If you want to get your hands on this magnificent blaster and place a bid head to this thread. You can find Joseph's build thread here. INFORMATION & AWARD PROGRAMS For a full list of FISD awards head here. If you have ANY questions about a particular term that is not listed or suggestions for new ones please contact Joseph. You can find the list here. Pre Approval Forum allows future Troopers the opportunity to submit photos of their completed build to be reviewed by the Staff, Imperial Attaches and others in preparation for forwarding it to their GML for approval. Any and all advice/suggestions given will be specific, constructive, helpful and respectful. The FISD Master Armorer program is an optional, detachment only incentive award to recognize individuals who have directly helped another 501st stormtrooper to achieve Expert Infantry status. Some people spend countless hours helping others, and want to reward their results as well as incentivizing new people to help as well. To register a “win” in the program, the assistance must have provided hands-on help trimming, building, and/or fitting of said armor for the person who was awarded Expert Infantry status. More information can be found here Want to setup a "Fire Team? the Fire Team program is completely optional, and is intended to help form a common identity and spirit of camaraderie among 501st Legion Stormtroopers in the same geographic area/garrison that troop together. Fire Teams are not officially recognized by the 501st Legion nor the FISD, although they will be able to access a Fire Team sub-forum on the detachment website. You can find more information here. With Unquestioned Loyalty Mark Ryner TK-4584 "captsafe66" Fire Team Relations So what exactly are and levels? These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize! You can find more information on the programs here. For those unaware it is possible to achieve extra awards at Expert Infantry for each additional version costume you have approved, additional awards are not issued with another Expert Infantry number (you are only issued 1 Expert Infantry number) but you will see a star above the award on your profile and the thread title will show [APPROVED] 2nd, [APPROVED] 3rd, [APPROVED] 4th and so on. Multiple EIB award recipients and info here NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here) ASK THE D.O.s For those of you who have a particular issue (or issues) before or after submitting for Expert Infantry / Centurion level approval, in order to get you an answer faster you can now privately contact the entire Deployment Officer team at one time! Questions about fitting, repairs, CRL standards/requirements or anything pertaining to reaching Levels 2 and 3 are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Keep in mind that no question is too small, and that your queries will only be seen by the D.O. Staff. We are here to help in any way we can, so please feel free to send us a message by clicking on this link: @Deployment Officer Team and we will get back to you A.S.A.P.! Hi Paul. Your armor looks great. Congratulations. However, one thing we need you to correct before moving along, is the position of the TD plate, since for basic level, the CRL states that "The white control panel raised ribbed pad faces the rear, with the controls/round washer style detail closest to the right end cap." Reference images We also need the following pics( added some examples): -Cod and posterior plate connections showing rivet/snaps (exterior) -Wrist openings (close-up). -Interior strapping - "Han" snap -Ammo pack rivet close up(interior) -Boots (showing tops and sides) Thanks Paul1 point

Greetings all We have just opened a new section of the forums today and it is officially launched with Justjosephs magnificent E11 blaster up for auction with all proceeds going to charity. What is the new section? Where do I find the new section? This new forum is located 501st & Detachment members section of our forums. What is this new section for? This new forum is for all things charity related. An example like Justjoseph, you may wish to build something FISD costume related and then auction it off to fellow members donating all proceeds to charity. This is about doing something not just for our community but helping make a difference to a charity. This is an area of opportunity for our members to band together and create ideas to benefit others, raise funds for our own legacy charity JDRF or even charity of your choosing. This is what we do, so lets help each other in the name of FISD and make a difference. We do have some rules that need to be adhered to for total transparency as most would well expect, but if you have any questions or ideas, please reach out to the staff as we are here to assist. This new section will expand out with the possibility of sub forums to cater for ideas, discussion charity events, and possibly a "How can we help" area, so stay tuned for further updates. Many thanks to gmrhodes13 for the banner creation for our new section.1 point

Hi Mark, and THANKS for your SECOND submission for ANH Stunt EI (and your patience)! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry. Congratulations! Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor, and please keep in mind that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. You have a great looking set of armor there, Mark, but there is a little fine-tuning you could do to make it look even better! Not sure what happened with your Anovos armor, but I think you will find that AM is sturdier. All that being said, let's get started, brother! Starting with the vocoder, we would like to see the paint on the tops of the arches more symmetrical and the lines crisper. This is really easy to do using a small Flilbert (rounded end) style brush and should take less than 10 minutes. Reference images In looking at the photos below, the gap between the front of the right shoulder bell and the chest plate is pretty wide and should be closer to match the left. Adding some bicep straps would take care of this. In the first pic below, your right shoulder bell is riding higher than the left one. BUT, in the rear shot they are perfectly aligned. I think this is because your right shoulder was raised, so something to consider when you apply for Centurion. It looks like your hand plates are about to pop off, so adding some E-6000 (NOT CA glue) around the edges would keep those rascals in place. The gloves also seem to want to bunch up at the openings (yellow arrow). I have a thread here which will help. Your ab/kidney connections are fine, but there are slight gaps on the sides, so we highly suggest adding some ABS tabs on the sides. There are several versions (2 are below) depending on how adventurous you want to get. Details on this one here. In the first pic below it looks like the belt you are using to support your thighs has slipped considerably and is showing. We suggest raising it (see example) so that the connection sits under your canvas belt. Last up, when you submit your Centurion photos have your photographer check the drop boxes so they don't get caught on your thigh. Centurion Requirements: In this section we prepare you for our highest tier of approval. Because Centurion photos must show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Level 3 might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can from what we are able to clearly see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. Not too much to see here, sir, but as you know Level 3 is all about those small details.... the "ideal" TK. As seen below, your right bicep protrudes farther down than the left one and they should sit at the same height. This is pretty easy to remedy by making the right shoulder bell to bicep strap a bit shorter. I'm thinking an inch or so. Reference images As per the CRL, the ABS belt should sit at or just above the bottom of the ab button plates. Since it has to be raised, we recommend above as seen in the reference images. Reference images Last up is the simplest fix ever! The CRL for Level 3 states that the "Corners of the .. ammo belt shall be trimmed at a 45 degree angle that meets the outer edge of the cloth belt". I know it's a tiny detail, but that's what Centurion is all about! 10 seconds with some tin snips or Lexan scissors and you are good! Reference image And that's it! Nothing too major, and since you have done this before I have every confidence that you can jump on these issues and that we will be seeing your photos for Centurion soon. If you need any assistance with any of the issues (or have questions) always feel welcome to contact any of us on the D.O. staff. Now it's time to get out there and make the CCG proud with this new armor!!1 point
