  2. Well since my armor is ordered and shipped I figured I should go ahead and start my build thread. I’m doing and ANH stunt with AM 4.5 (scheduled to be delivered on Tuesday). I’m going for centurion from the start. Already have the undersuit and gloves, and I ordered the neck seal and holster from Darmans. Still need to to order the boots (getting them from IB on next wave in April) and trying to decide on making my own belt or ordering one once the upper half of the armor is done. Bucket electronics: I already have tiny microphones that will be going in the ears and ordered the speaker hovi tips from Ukswrath. I’m going to get a tiny voice amp and earbuds for the hearing aid, fans for cooling, and want to run it all on a portable cell phone battery charger. I was planning on getting a ROM/FX unit for the other voice amp, but after doing research I found out they are closed down, so now I’m looking into the icomm and Aker setup. My only issue with this is I really want everything in the bucket, making it all self contained. Work in progress (open to other options that will still give the feedback effects of the icomm or ROM/FX). Looking forward to this first build and finally making the dream come true. I’m hoping to get it done and approved by August (want to get special license plates for my car with my TK number) but if not then by Halloween. Not going to push it though, as my primary goal is getting centurion and taking my time to do it right.

  3. Haven’t gotten hard parts in yet. Starting now since I’ve had my first parts come in today. Ordered a WTF kit On March 4 Ordered a geeky pinks neck seal last night March 21 my boots came in today. They are funtasms just to go ahead and have a pair for basic approval if I don’t get my other boots before submission but will be ordering imperial boots for centurion when they open again already have a hasboro blaster with a doopy doos kit on the way. Ordered basic black althetic gear gear for the undersuit from amazon should be here this weekend.

  4. Hello everyone, After going back and forth between ANH and ESB and a lot of reading. I have decided on ANH stunt build. I would like to build to centurion. I finally had a chance to unpack the BBB. The AM kit looks great and the build quality seems very sturdy. I am still in the process of ordering and sourcing hardware and soft goods as well as an E-11. I think my only choice for boots is Imperial boots unless someone has another suggestion. I also need to get TD brackets and screws. I can't seem to find the size I need for Chicago screws for the holster. Should I wait to make the canvas belt until I have the torso of the armor built for correct measurements or is it a standard size? I have read many posts on gloves are these ok for centurion approval https://www.amazon.com/Rothco-Gi-Type-Flight-Gloves/dp/B000IH8CDM/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?crid=1M9RGCM3CSYBX&keywords=nomex+gloves+black&qid=1553309003&s=gateway&sprefix=nomex+gloves+bl&sr=8-2 or do they need to be rubber? Some of the discussions I saw that troopers use nomex for breathability. I will start on the bucket first because it seems pretty straight forward. Because of my lack of experience with ABS. I am going to wait and see if there is an armor party locally in the near future, to get help with fitment and trimming of the armor so I know it's correct before I start cutting.

  5. Sorry for be the bearer of the news. For what its worth the archives photo your referred to is correct. Take a look at the lowest rivet. See the difference between it and the step in the Ab/ This distance should be roughly 10-15mm. Check with your GML regarding basic 501st approval. If you plan on applying for EIB or Centurion be aware you'll most undoubtedly be asked to correct it.

  9. Nice idea with the balloon, I use a piece of wire and make an oval at one end larger than the pipe and push in tight, great to see other ideas at work

  10. Took a day off work and invited Bulldog44 over to my place for some armor building fun. It was great to ask direct questions and get answers to a bunch of questions. He brought some of his trimming scraps that will be great for filling the trenches in the forearms. Most helpful was the extra pair of hands and eyes to check body part alignments. We decided on the should strap snap placements and gap between chest and back pieces and glued in the snaps. Once the rest of the internal snaps are done I can move on to harder parts like belt and legs. With a bit of time left we also put a layor of paint on my TD tube. I failed to notice that a previous contact with belt sander was not sanded back down. Another coat of paint or two might help but ok with a slightly marked up TD. Oh, I also used a ballon to hold the tube and keep paint from inside of tube while spraying. Big thanks to Bulldog44 for making the trek and spending the day giving me a hand with armor.

  12. Thanks Digz! I’ve been going on the build supply list, and have almost everything. Still need the lexon scissors and the parts for the strapping. Planning on doing the helmet first, so still have a little time to get the rest of the supplies. Going to use E-6000 ain’t it’s my first build. Didnt know about the IMGUR account, thanks for the info!

  14. It's been far too long since I last updated here. Many things have happened but I guess that my big news is..... I'm approved!! Oh, and I have also moved to Hawaii from upstate NY. Huge thank you goes to my friend Dave Conklin, I would still be trying if it were not for you! What are my next steps here as to becoming a full member of the detachment and access to the forums? I also am looking to start the process of getting Expert Infantry and eventually Centurion status. Thanks

  16. The belt did a decent job of keeping the butt plate in place, so after a few other minor tweaks and adjustments, I posted to the Pre-Approval thread to see if I'm ready or if there's community census of good-to-go. https://imgur.com/VS0hwNn We'll see how well this goes!!! This is my nervous face.

  18. I did a troop last weekend with one of my squad members and he brought his jimmys R1 helmet and we did some side by side comparisons. You can see how much smaller my helmet is. Again, please keep in mind this is a prototype. I have recently made some small improvements and am working on a new mold now. I should be ready to start offering these for sale soon.
