AW2066[TK] Posted June 19 Report Posted June 19 (edited) from what I see Front & Center is a New Gen TK On both L & R sides look to be OTTK suits Willing to bet a few Imperial credits this was brought up Years ago ... Edited June 19 by AW2066 Quote
Sly11[Admin] Posted June 19 Report Posted June 19 501st members were on set to make up numbers and generally that's when you see the OT TK's appear. Jon Favreau put out the call and the Southern Cali garrison stepped forward. 1 Quote
TheRascalKing[TK] Posted June 19 Report Posted June 19 (edited) A few of us that were there are active in these forums. As noted above, LFL invited members from all 4 of the California garrisons to be background cast members in the season 1 finale of The Mandalorian. We were also invited for the Obi-Wan Kenobi show and wore our own (mostly) ANH-S style armor. This club has given its members some incredible, once-(or twice)-in-a-lifetime opportunities to be a part of the Star Wars universe. Edited June 24 by TheRascalKing 4 Quote

So, how much did you know in advance going into this troop or were you all surprised? How many hours did you all put into it? Really would be something awesome to experience! 1 Quote

I don't like to talk too much about it, as we did all sign NDAs and some of us continue to do contract work for D/LFL so we try to be discreet. Most of this has already been stated publicly, but this was a situation where a post went up on like Friday night and we filmed that Monday-Wednesday. It was the first time 501st members have been invited for production in numbers, so we did not expect it at all and figured it was a commercial or something until we arrived at the studio. Production work involves LONG hours (12+) in armor, hence some of those troopers' unfortunate posture. This was not a troop or official event - we were cast as background actors. Taking photos at troops is one thing, but actually being a stormtrooper in Star Wars and running around all day in full armor is something else entirely. It was hard work but they were opportunities I'll cherish all my days. 4 4 Quote

I thought it was going to be another Nissan Rogue commercial shoot and passed. Still kicking myself. 1 Quote
BAZINGA[TK] Posted June 23 Report Posted June 23 So are these types of things paid gigs? I'm sure I am not the only one who is a bit jealous of this particular "troop". Quote

I'm sure I am not the only one who is a bit jealous of this particular "troop". California labor laws still apply - we would do it for free but couldn't if we wanted to. Hence it not being a troop - same as any time we do work for the Mouse. We were cast as background actors/character performers and not everyone who applied was selected. 2 Quote
BAZINGA[TK] Posted June 23 Report Posted June 23 So what did this look like? You get short notice for a paid gig but don't know the gig? You had to apply? What was the criteria for getting picked or not picked? It's interesting. 1 Quote

AW2066[TK] Posted June 23 Author Report Posted June 23 I think what I 1st posted was misunderstood 🤔 I've heard & read much of what was shared/able to be told about who & how Legion troopers were involved, Fun Stuff to be sure ! I mentioned that we see Front & Center in the photo is a New Gen TK as are the 2, tho a few feet further away to the R side of the photo. Aside from the studio armour suits on set, I'm unaware that there were Legion troopers, as background artists, in New Gen armour. Might this be a mix of both ? Quote

AW2066[TK] Posted June 23 Author Report Posted June 23 (edited) No sir, I meant on set in their own New Gen kits, meaning this could be 1 of likely many shots of a mix of Legion & studio stunt/background artists seem together. Edited June 23 by AW2066 Quote

There are extremely few approved New Gen kit owners in the Legion and only 2-3 in SoCal - there were none in personal New Gen suits. All 501st wore ANH-S or ESB. Hope that helps clarify!
