I use an Icomm with Aker 1506 amp.

Can sit behind your chest plate, some prefer to add to the helmet, does make things a little tight

I've tried TrooperTalk, TRamp, and just now got my icomm. Icomm is by far my favorite. The static bursts are perfect and it gives the most "static" change in my voice without being too much. I love that it has a push to talk cable if you want as well

My iCOMM just completely crapped out and I wasn’t even able to use it on a troop.  It started acting as if it had a short, took apart the box and the battery fell out.  Soldered the battery back in and then it shorted somewhere else.  Got tired of chasing the short.

At least I still have my hovi speakers and amplifier from ukswrath that work phenomenally!

How loud are they? Any feedback issues?

No feedback issues at all, I have the mic secured in my helm too.  They are loud enough to be able to be heard and have a conversation, but not overpowered like chest mounted speaker boxes can be.  I have mine marked at about 3/4 volume on the dial, any louder and it sounds like the speakers might blow.  I’m very happy with them, I don’t like talking in costume anyway, but it’s nice to have the ability to be heard just loud enough if I do.

FYI Icomm's can have issues with the internal battery, once flat it can no longer hold a charge, they tend to just click, replacing the battery or modifying it with an external battery may help.

Little disconcerting when it comes brand new in that condition

I had the same problem.  Crapped out before my first troop.  I got it repaired and all was good but a year after the repair the same problem again.  Tried three different batteries with no luck.  Debating if I send it away again for another repair, buy a new one or just forget about it.

My favorite voice changer is the TKTalkie. I wear it inside my armor in a chest rig I got on Amazon with a battery pack and portable speaker.  It can modify your voice and add all the clicks and pops when you speak.  It also plays a radio chatter loop.  If you can solder, you can make it yourself and it's pretty inexpensive.

I've tried them all and Tony's really is the best. The little helmet speakers just sound *right*. They're a bit quiet for a large outdoor troop, so I reach for the chest mounted TRamp for those, but the @ukswrath set can't be beat for any other environment.

There are a lot of options out there as I posted previously, everyone has their own choice, I've been trooping with my Icomm and Aker amp for 12 years and converted to an exterior battery and it has not missed a beat.

There are now amps out there that also include MP3 players so you can have background sounds playing as well as talking. I also use the other plug on the amp to run to props, blaster, lazer axe, baton etc etc, all can be played at the same time.
