Honeymustard[501st]
Hey all! Figured it was time to post my current build progress for the remnant artillery stormtrooper. I will be updating this tomorrow with more photos as I go but wanted to get the basic information and some photos out there for the time being. I ended up doing some basic modifications which I will detail in follow up posts. gmrhodes13[Staff]
Nice work, one thing that may be needed is a little weathering to the yellow paint, we see quite a lot of scuffs on screen, the hot toys figure and black series helmet Belt boxes are a little on the small size, if you wanted to update those these may be of help 3D files available Comparing to CRL image
Logan_Blueline[TK]
Looking great my brother! Weathering won't be a problem and maybe we can find a black series bucket as I recall you mentioning wanting to snag one.

There are a few natural dings and knicks at the corners of my pieces. Was gonna let it weather naturally over time unless it was absolutely needed lol. Easier to add scuffs then remove them anyway EDIT: Taking a quick glance at the Incinerator Trooper CRL, his scuffs/paint chips seem to be a level 2 CRL cert. Similar markings (although not exact as it is the TFU variant). Edited November 3, 2022 by Honeymustard

Light enough to be faintly visible. And next time we hang out I am gonna force you to go to Target with me to look.

Similar markings (although not exact as it is the TFU variant). That's a pretty old CRL, we've seen on other newer CRL's over the last few years that a lot more detail has been added. Take the TFU TK for instance from last year "lightly scuffed (battle worn), but not weathered like a Sandtrooper" that's from base standard as each TK seen in the game has the exact same distinctive weathering. The Mandalorian incinerator trooper would also no doubt be weathered as that is what is seen in the show. But in saying that it is entirely up to the LMO's of course as they have final say on any new costume approval.
Sly11[Admin]
Wow Logan, finally some photos!! excellent work on your build. I do agree it needs a touch of weathering/scuffs to ebb closer to the screen accuracy side, and those longer drop boxes Glen has mentioned will be a good finishing touch as well. Great Job and the CRL for this will be a reasonably easy write up. Is it possible to have the shins taper a bit more towards the bottom? Currently they look a little tubular,(same width at the top as they are at the bottom) and I'm not sure what room you have to move with trimming the 850 kit to achieve that.
BigJasoni[TK]
Logan, Great job so far; you nailed the paint color and scheme. Yes, maybe a couple more nicks and dings, but you're looking good so far. I do want to reiterate what Glen said about the belt boxes though: On 11/2/2022 at 10:16 PM, gmrhodes13 said: Belt boxes are a little on the small size, if you wanted to update those these may be of help 3D files available Comparing to CRL image I'm not saying this because I designed those files, but rather because the ROTK CRL is pretty clear with this one basic requirement: The ammunition belt is accurate in detail and proportion to official references. So, in the absence of an artillery/ mortar stormtrooper CRL, we really need to emulate what we see in the ROTK CRL pics and the screen references. Also, since the artillery stormtrooper comes from the Disney+ (New Generation) armor pics, those armor sets need to be emulated carefully, and yes, there are differences. Here's a few pics: Ok, these two are a little blurry, but you can see the triangular/ prism shaped detail on top of the mid sized box. Additionally, you can see how it's lined up with the top of the belt and the large box is approximately 1/8" below the top. Here's a good pic of the trooper who got blasted in the belly by Boba. And here's a picture that was taken at celebration; it's probably the most clear picture of the top of the New Generation belt we have. Also, please note in all these pics how the edges have a pretty deliberate chamfer. Finally, here's a picture of the belt boxes I designed. These ones are printed in resin and are going to be used to create molds so I can start casting them. I am going to slightly alter the file in order to flatten the mid box detail, but not by much. Hope this helps.
Honeymustard[501st]
Alright. So while waiting on the new belt boxes made an attempt at matching some of the chipping from the show/cardboard standee. First one here tried to eliminate the background: Edited November 6, 2022 by Honeymustard Added photos

revlimiter[Staff]
VERY nice work!! If I may humbly suggest, the bucket could use a few more chips in it to match the screen used trooper. Gives it more character.
Honeymustard[501st]
Hey all! Giving an update. Added some additional weathering and attached the new boxes!
gmrhodes13[Staff]
It's very hard to make out weathering on armor when taking photos but the chipping is looking much better. One thing I like to use is waterbased acrylic paints, they are great fro dry brushing and easy to rub off if you go too hard. Just watch your stance too as your abdomen and belt looks to be on a slant

I’ll be taking another set of photos tomorrow after work.

gmrhodes13[Staff]
Looking good, just to go over a couple of details, not sure if they will be required for base approval If you compare your belt the notches aren't as defined, not sue if this will come up in base approval though, probably higher levels. Grey on ab buttons is a little dark may just be the photo, Humbrol No5 is best suited. Now a few tweaks you may need, not sure what it's like to walk around in but your shins appear very close if not overlapped, you may need to work on the spacing, perhaps shorten the shins from the bottom. Padding behind your sniperplate would help push it away from your thigh. Should bell elastic, if you could reduce this gap it would better. You have some bunching of your undershirt, also a black tab/elastic on the bicep. Different gaps biceps to forearms, I would try to even these gaps as well as perhaps bringing up your biceps, your forearm is touching your hand plate on the right arm. Opening on rear of left forearm, rotate when taking photos A little hard to tell but just make sure your drop boxes hang at the end of the belt boxes, hard to tell in your images. Drop box alignment Shoulder bell to shoulder strap gap Overlap of thigh over shin Belt angled on rear Something I picked up a few weeks ago is the position of the rear coverstrips on thighs and shins, this would be for higher levels. As I say just a few minor tweaks, always hard to get just the right position while others are taking the photos, I have a full length mirror on hand to check in between shots, as you may very well be the CRL model you want everything to looks just right
