Mar2D2 ANH TK Stunt Stormtrooper RS kit build thread WIP

Recommended Posts

So the time has come for me to begin my journey and childhood dream of becoming a Stormtooper.

My name is Martyn Scully and a Hugh fan of all things Star wars sci-fi and 80's.

I received my BBB from RS and I couldn't believe that I have finally purchased TK stormtrooper stunt armour.

Welcome Martyn. Good luck on the build and remember measure twice or five times and then cut. Also never a dumb question and we love photos.

Where to start?

I decided to use the RS Propmasters youtube video and started with the biceps (apparently the easiest parts to build).

Please comment on my progress so far as I have never taken on a build this nerve wracking before.

Apologies, for not taking pics of all my trimming stages. I get caught up in the build and forget to document. This is something I will improve on as I progress through my build.

After my first fitting, I realised that the wrist part was still a little to big, so I re-measured and trimmed taking into account the the very helpful advice from other troopers of "measure twice (or 5 times), cut once!

I've decided to leave the armour for a bit and work on the thermal detonator after reading and taking notes from other TK build threads on the forums.

I still need to trim the panel and glue. The great thing about the RS kit is they have already attached the correct size clips and level 3 centurion black screws.

Before I trim the panel could one of our troopers confirm the dimensions of the panel? Width and length?

Many thanks in advance!9997b6d3ddc638afe746495e38f18376.jpg&key=9658c0b63ec2010c568027098a902ae76f243f66aaa3829c39d70104722820a7af4f6998bc272a29159809e2f5dfc626.jpg&key=4cd188a0ead7a0d293563d0738dd49b857e7b0deb9052d8b01304457aebef3d6c38cf354014a7744fab6bd957b149a9c.jpg&key=a2fa9a42b1f40cfe1f06980ff100db72e8b95ae737f3682fe7b8e83f29dd913c67fab12cd3656d526806d1de69c827fa.jpg&key=cf2bbbc9ec48ab2e5c764c4da19596edba6ba3ac5232e7f0c6e831c491f905e0944cf42e2f075094b306e34847350bd4.jpg&key=285831037da57070464f3e0509defd1f1861cecbe3b65992b0959bd9e47c32ff86a0104f4e6a89ff5495276c1deb737a.jpg&key=179b880247fc3dbf12cf0f7031f7209f6089a37c8e4478788d5d46c06fffc77364fe5f15126a65ef01aeb0aa10739546.jpg&key=2045b128a089b780dde47d5beaea65a3ac8639adc95b9acb086197e085f54561

You will find much of the forearm gap at the front will be filled by the gloves, as long as you can fit your hands through.

Nice work on the TD many don't notice the screw positions, you could however trim your end caps a little more, they are @ 20 mm

Thanks for the advice. I closed the wrists by 10mm and tried them with my under suit and gloves, they look so much better now.

Many thanks.

Also as advised, with my TD I moved out each bracket by 5mm and trimmed the caps down to 20mm. Let me know what you think.d63a94a27a67009f7ff97ddaaa3c7e9f.jpg25a40e30c21c2d102ab7ee8b12198830.jpg

Unfortunately, I have lost my photos of my progress on this part of my build. Frustrated!! Annoyed by this as I struggled with this build. Here's is my helmet so far.

I hand painted all the details including the tube stipes. I still have some painting touch ups to complete as well as the cheek and back vents to add. The bottom needs trimming ready for the S trim and the left ear needs trimming and attaching.

As you can see there is a large gap at the back of the ear, but I don't mind the front ear gap, as most of the original in ANH had these.

I have a question which the answer may help close the ear gap?

The bottom ear screw seem low down, but is accurate to the RS lid.

My question is. If I was to move the bottom screw up the ear slightly (as shown on other ANH lids)?

This would help close the gap, also the screw as it currently sits would end up almost hidden by the "S" trim.

Would moving the bottom screw effect centurion level 3 status?

Many thanks in advance.ffe432461ab02cb026d7f169c780c102.jpg27584a1157ee5384db3dcc27e92ed4fe.jpg
