I've been doing some research and can't seem to find a boot supplier I'd be satisfied with based on feedback and reviews from other troopers. So my solution in this dilemma is to buy a pair of Chelsea boots and dye them myself.

My questions to you is would you recommend taking this route to those new in this hobby and haven't done anything similar, is it cost effective vs buying from Imperial Boots or other suppliers, and is it worth it in the long run?

I can only say it is more expensive in the long run because of repainting, but is actually totally screen accurate.

Buy black boots:

Buy this:
Tarrago Self Shine Color Dye and Preparer 25Ml. White #1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P5H6Z2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_CsHSBbRMJZDJX

Apply:

Then buy white leather spray paint for a better “even” coat from a cobbler or a Saddle and Tack

Apply:

Then protect your work with white shoe polish!

I went with Angelus acrylic leather paint. Took about 10 coats since I didn’t have a sprayer.

But end result was satisfactory.

This is the route that I am going.    Picked up a pair of black Jodphurs for $40, now I just need to prep and paint!

Just make sure to use acetone or something to take the sheen off the boots first if you don’t want them to peel.
