TK-9820's ANH Armor

Recommended Posts

TK-9820 reporting for duty. Status: rookie.

Here's my heavily modded FX lite kit with AP shoulder bells, modded MRCE helmet, maker of things resin blaster and self-made leather holster. Belt is white canvas. Butt plate has been separated. Side gaps are closed with ABS panels. Ab buttons are gray and blue.

I can't view them from work. :( So I'll have to wait to check them out when I get home. Welcome offically to the Central California Garrison! :)

I think you did a fantastic job on the thighs. Its always good to see correctly shaped thighs on FX armor. I think you should trim the bottom of your chest plate and give it a return edge. There's tutorial for it. Great job. You get a screen cast helmet on that and you're golden!

At first glance it even looks elite worthy. Go over the elite checklist and see if you're missing anything.

Thanks everyone for the feedback so far. I could not have done this without the several hours of research and help I got from everyone here. This site is outstanding because of what every member puts into it.

It was a 5 month process due to my ability to only work in small increments.

I'll be taking more close-up detail photos soon for Elite status. I'll double check the requirements first.

Thanks for the welcome to the CCG Thaynerd.

Awesome! I 100% agree about the thighs - it's an area most people neglect to their shame. Can't wait for an Elite submission soon :)

The chest plate mod is next. I'll get more use out of that hobby iron.

The thighs took a lot of trial and error (and first degree burns--still love that heat gun though). Someday, I'd like to swap them out with AP or TE ones when I get more costume $.

I don't get to try out the new gear this weekend for TCW events...Mrs. TK-9820 is working, so I'm on kid watch. :(

Hi Smitty, I was curious to know why you suggested he trim his chest plate. Is there a certain way the FX needs to look, or is it a height thing? As you know I've got an AP kit - do I need to trim mine?

I dont agree with the way this sort of advice is given with no explanation.hes chest looks fine not to low and not over the buttons. If it aint broke dont fix it.

I believe the mod Smitty was talking about and the one I intend to do involves reducing the downward arc of the lower left and right corners. I think they would look a little more AP style this way.

If I'm off Smitty, let me know.

I had to shave off some length from the top and re-shape the shoulder arches to bring the plate above the ab buttons. I have a short torso, I think. I photo-documented this process in my FISD member photo gallery.

  • 6 months later...

I'm 5'08". I wish I was a little taller because I get that "Aren't you a little short to be a Stormtrooper?" comment on practically every troop. Not to mention that the other TKs in my Garrison seem to all tower over me in group photos.

Sorry to over look the question for so long but it happens. As far as me recommending trimming and returning the bottom edge of the chest plate, It does look absolutely fine the way it is. But he's gone to the trouble of getting fresh shoulder bells and considering SA thighs, so why not bring the chest plate a little closer to SA. I wouldnt trim it all the way across but if youre gonna do it, definitely knock off a little of the bottom corners and give the whole bottom edge about a quarter inch return. Its a really good looking modification when its done. I honestly didnt think it needed an explanation.

Correct me if im wrong but it sounds like your having a go at busting my balls, not the first time Ive picked up on that either.
