Attaching Neck S Trim

Recommended Posts

All

So how do you go about attaching the S neck trim? E-6000 carefully applied?

Also where are people putting the join. Trying to decide if it's best right at the back (where it's visible) or putting it under the vocoder where people are less likely to notice it due to the black?

Cheers

I did use a little E6000 on the inside of the helmet lip. As far as the seam, mine is in the rear of the helmet. Once you put the S trim on cut very small pieces (slivers) off the S trim until it fits just snug.  You will barely see any seam if you do it this way. Good Luck.

Actually, the S-trim should pretty much stay in on it's own, Ben.  I'm not sure if E-6000 would adhere to rubber, but you could try it of course.  I put my join underneath the vocoder in the front to make it less visible, and since buckets are often handled from the back it prevents it from coming off.

Actually just did a test fit and noticed that the S Trim (purchased from TrooperBay on an AP bucket) doesn't cover the bottom of the ears at all. In fact it only reaches to the edges of them. Is this an issue? Should I be trimming the opening to be wider to cover at least some of the bottom of the ears?

My s-trim kept coming off when I would take my helmet off, so I put some E6000 on just to "encourage" it to stay in place. So far, so good.

What did you do?

I ended up just putting the S Trim on and yes it just sits in if you trim it nice and tight. The rest of it took me about a week to do and I'm pretty happy with the result. You can't see on the pics but the decals from AP ended up going on a little bubbly so I think I'll eventually take them off and just paint, but she'll do for now.

I downloaded a template for hand painted tube stripes from one of the forum contributors. I transferred them to vinyl to create a negative of the stripes. Filled in the negative with paint. And in short order removed the vinyl.

You can get them from Trooperbay, but you can also get decals as well.  Both are acceptable at all levels.

Templates-  https://trooperbay.com/trooper-tube-stripe-masking-templates

Decals-  https://trooperbay.com/standard-tube-stripes

Apparently for level 3 sand, the helmet have to be painted, no decals

Yes, you're right for the Sand Trooper  Crl states

Helmet details must be hand painted. Decals, including decals that emulate hand painting, are not allowed.

And consider the following details :

No vertical black lines in any traps or tears.

Frown is painted gray and does not leave the teeth area.

Correct Hovi-Mix mic tips.

of course that you can check for more details and advices about Sandtrooper  at the Mos Eisley Police Dpt Forum.

Good luck with your project.  Cheers
