  1. I downloaded a template for hand painted tube stripes from one of the forum contributors. I transferred them to vinyl to create a negative of the stripes. Filled in the negative with paint. And in short order removed the vinyl. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  2. Hi, I can't say that I know much, but I have seen and been told that even though a kit has been approved for one owner, the new owner will have to go through the approval all over again. How close are you in size and proportion to the previous owner. If there is too much customization needed, it might be worth it to buy your own kit. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  3. Could you post photos of what you are talking about. It would help us to to help you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  4. Dante JustJoseph is correct. Start buy watching the various trooper builds on youtube. They give good info into the process. There are a number of very good tutorials on building a storm trooper or shadow trooper. Like Joseph said they are the same just different colors. The other thing you want to do is look up the various tools and materials you will need to help you build your trooper. There are very good lists included within the forums. I knew absolutely nothing about a year ago, and the folks here were very helpful. But ultimately, I had to take the first steps my self. I agonized over making my first cut, then my second, and my next. But it got easier. Oh and look into borrowing or buying a set of neodinium magnets. I borrowed a set from a friend. 5. I use very high grit (400-2400) wet sanding sheets. When sanding, use an up down motion, then on the next sheet use a left right motion. "Wash, rinse, repeat". With a light touch, and patience it should come out beautifully. What kind of glue were you using? E6000? If so, then you should be able to rub it off with the pad of a finger or your thumb. Then wipe the area with propyl alcohol and a micro fiber cloth. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  6. Patrick, I thought this URL might be helpful for you ----------
  7. Another thought, you can always cut a little and check your fit. If you cut too much don't panic. Fixes can be made. Just don't throw away your scraps. Good luck and have fun. You are a member of a very large community of people willing to help.
  8. You are on the right track. BWDC is right. You can remove the returns. The CRLs for the TK (Stormtrooper armor) tell you what you must have to get the armor approved for the 501st. The tutorials will tell you how to do it. Just remember that you want enough room to slide your hand through the bicep then through the fore arm. For a tutorial there are a number of them in the FISD forum. Look up UKswrath. He has a great one. There are also a great series of build videos on YouTube. Trooperbay and Armor Building with TK1636, are the videos I watched a few times to get my self going. Then I also got with the local Squad. Where I live it is Makaze.
  9. Hi, any chance you can send us photos of what you are talking to us about? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  10. How messed up is messed up? One wide cut or a bunch of little ones? Also on what is the front or is it on what would be the back? Photos of the damage will help us to help you. All is not lost. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  11. Just a thought, talk to UKswrath. I think he can help you. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  12. Remember you need to be able to get a gloved hand through the forearm. So padding would be the better option. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  13. We built the Anovos Shadow Trooper. It needed no painting. Did need to clean up excess glue when we assembled it. My son was at SWCO this past weekend on Saturday, and folks kept pointing out how shiney it was. The only thing he did was to polish it with a clean micro fiber cloth. 14. Two ways to go about it. 1) get pot of water as hot as you can just stand it. Submerge the shins in the water. Soften it up and tweak the shape so that opening is wider. Or 2) use a good heat gun, very careful not to burn or melt the finish and again work with material to obtain a wider opening. These work best on ABS. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  15. I can see people trading out the latex for silicone due to skin reactions/allergies. It seems like more people are turning with that sensitivity. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  16. I personally haven't bought from Trooperbay but have heard nothing but good things about him on the forums. I hope this a little helpful. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  17. Well he tells me that the stirrups held up while at Celebration. He finally doffed his kit, because something in one of his thigh pieces was digging into his leg after awhile. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  18. He will be wandering around Celebration tomorrow, if you are there. Otherwise I'll have to wait until this weekend is over to get you a photo. I tried the mod out when I put it together the other day. You knew it was there but it was not uncomfortable. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  19. TX30395 was having the same issue with his shin armor. So, 2 ft of 1" braided elastic, and 3" (×2) of hook and loop, and 15 minutes on the sewing machine later, a set of shin garters were made. Problem solved. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

  21. Lol, if you are in Clermont I have 6 liters of lab grade Acetone. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
  22. Break out a drill and abs paste. Drill a small hole at the closed end of the crack. This will slow or stop the progression of the crack. Mask off the area around the crack with the trusty painter's tape Then fill in the crack and hole with the abs paste. Remove the painter's tape and let it dry over night. Wet sand the repair and touch it up. This is a pretty basic run down. There are more detailed instructions available in the 501st forums. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk

  24. There was a legitimate study that rated batteries longevity v price. Long story short, they concluded that higher priced disposable batteries last longer than their cheaper counter parts. So when mom buys junior a dollar store knock off instead of professional grade copper tops, and says they are just as good. She is so wrong. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
