bearings[TK] Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 Here we go, my Phoenix Props / T5H build! First impressions out of the box are that the parts are extremely clean, there are only a few pour spouts to cut off and a small number of bubble areas to fill in. Parts before cleanup: Handle End Cap: Trigger: Charging thingy: Power cell thingy: Main Body, end cap to be cut down and area under the rail to be cleaned out: Underside: Grip: Everything roughly cleaned up: Quote
bearings[TK] Posted April 5, 2016 Author Report Posted April 5, 2016 Paint prep / testing. Everything got a coat of primer so I could see how it looked. Most of it was ready to go, but I did do some additional filling on the back of the grip and some other small areas. Then I put down some base paint coats, mostly black (which I really didn’t need to on a few pieces since they are mostly white). I started with a flat black, but will eventually put down a semi-gloss black. I’m using Tamiya paints with my airbrush, which is still somewhat new to me but I like the results so far. You’ll see some SE-44C parts in the mix, since I’m painting both at once. Scope masked, painting silver: Unmasked scope: More parts: Adding some white layers: Scope masked again for white this time: Unmasked scope: Main body masked: Unmasked with scope and end cap loosely fit: And here’s my current status, while I am waiting for some more glossy white to arrive: Eventually I'll paint over the black areas again with semi gloss. For the first go at this build, I'm trying to avoid the temptation to add in LEDs and the front flashlight.. but I think later I'll come back to add those. 1 Quote
Guest Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 Nice work! Thanks for the thread, this will help other people getting their builds started fast. Quote
Bulldog44[TK] Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 Awesome! Looks amazing. I use Tamiya paints with my airbrush too. Results are always very pleasing, goes down evenly. Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted April 5, 2016 Report Posted April 5, 2016 Looks like you're going to be one fully T5H armored First Order trooper, from SE-44C to F-11D. Big proof of confidence to my work from you. Thanks . 1 Quote
bearings[TK] Posted April 5, 2016 Author Report Posted April 5, 2016 We should start calling them T5H-11Ds and T5H-44Cs They're so awesome, thanks so much for your efforts! Quote
Griffin-X[TK] Posted April 6, 2016 Report Posted April 6, 2016 Looking really good, nice work! And, great pull on the blaster Dday! Quote
Pencap510 Posted April 6, 2016 Report Posted April 6, 2016 Looking amazing- mind should be coming soon (I'm part of the 2nd 5 being shipped). Question- what spray paint would you recommend trying as I don't have an air brush. I used krylon fusion on my armor and it worked really well Quote
bearings[TK] Posted April 6, 2016 Author Report Posted April 6, 2016 I would stick with Krylon if that worked well for you on the armor. I'm doing semi gloss black and glossy white. Clear coat on top (matching semi gloss and gloss) 1 Quote
bearings[TK] Posted April 11, 2016 Author Report Posted April 11, 2016 Still not 100% happy with my paint job, but I was in a hurry to get this finished/troopable by this coming weekend for the Run Disney Star Wars race troops! The kit goes together so easily, very nice! Quote
bearings[TK] Posted April 11, 2016 Author Report Posted April 11, 2016 I'll post some additional pics after I finish more paint touchups! Quote
Dday[501st] Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 looks good to me! So you needed 6 M4 rounded hex head bolts, Was there something else I didn't see? Quote
bearings[TK] Posted April 11, 2016 Author Report Posted April 11, 2016 That's all I've added, but still need to attach the longer bolts for the holster connection too Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 Did you put the end cap upside down on purpose? Nothing inaccurate here as we can few blasters (at least one) assembled like that, but I'm curious if it's intentionnal. 2 Quote
bearings[TK] Posted April 11, 2016 Author Report Posted April 11, 2016 Oh whoops, lol. That's the only piece not glued, must have goofed when putting it up for photos there 1 Quote
bearings[TK] Posted April 11, 2016 Author Report Posted April 11, 2016 I think I've had it that way for a while, fixed it real quick: Quote
bearings[TK] Posted April 11, 2016 Author Report Posted April 11, 2016 The bolts I have on the grip are too small also, I think. Quote
The5thHorseman[501st] Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 Yes, maybe a touch small indeed but not that much. The screws aren't supposed to fill entirely the recesses. Quote
Cowboy Kylo[501st] Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 Any recommendations for the bolts to hold onto holster. I bought some t4 and t5 torx screws for everything else but those seem to be bigger Quote

I bought some t4 and t5 torx screws for everything else but those seem to be bigger If you buy the metal holster kit from R2Dan I believe these come with it. They are different vs the other bolts in that they are a thick flat headed item to properly fit into the grooves. Quote
DarthDawg[TK] Posted June 5, 2017 Report Posted June 5, 2017 I think I've had it that way for a while, fixed it real quick: Hi! I'm working on a F11D and was wondering if you put the lights in the Counter and Meg.... and if so, how did you accomplish it? Quote
