OneWhiteWarrior
I know on RPF he has a sale thread, i wasnt sure if it was for the Lid or full Armor. Looking over the prototype it looks like one of the best helmets to date. Im def curious to hear some feedback on how they came out. Also does anyone know the price for just the Lid??? mods1965
I am down for the HIPS gloss kit. They now have an ABS version as well. The armour is not done yet, but they confirmed the origional is ABS and they will produce as that. In think the first helmet run is closed, but expect a new run soon. They have sone great shots of the helmets and kits all boxed. Looks like the kits will go out first. Go to the RDF and do not miss out on the thread. Its one of the best Stormtrooper threads you will ever read.

LittleOne
from their face book page... cool story! ROB'S STAR WAR-DROBE IS GOING DOWN A STORM MODEL maker and sci-fi enthusiast Rob McCormick hit the jackpot after discovering an original Star Wars Storm Trooper costume. Rob McCormick from Droylsden, came across the £200,000 suit after a chance encounter on an internet forum for model makers. The highly-sought after costume had been hidden away in a Warrington attic for more than 30 years. The discovery led to Rob and costume owner Simon Windus forming prop making company RS Promasters. Rob said: “Simon was given it when he was about 12-years-old and he’s had it in his loft for the last 30 years.†The duo formed RS Propmasters when Simon approached Rob to restore the costume on an internet forum. Rob and Simon decided to cast moulds from the original costume to make copies to sell to Star Wars fanatics. Rob said: “It’s taken us around six months to make moulds from the costume. You’ve got to be very careful with something that valuable.†While many would be satisfied with plaster moulds the value of the suit means Rob and Simon have had to spend hours painstakingly casting the suit in specialist resins and silicones. If the value of the costume wasn’t enough to worry about Rob and Simon are having to pioneer their methods because no one has cast moulds from an original suit before. But their efforts have proved worth it and now the pair are moving to a studio in Stockport to pursue their prop making business full time. Fans of Star Wars will pay between £500 and £1,000 for a replica storm trooper costume. Rob said: “Once we’ve created the moulds we should be able to make a costume once a week. “The real scoop for us is that the costume is from when they were filming A New Hope between 1976 and 1977. “We reckon it was discarded in a skip at Elstree Studios after they finished filming.†As a business RS Promotions is growing quickly but its roots are firmly based in charity. Rob started model making after being invited to a Hyde Fundraisers event three years ago. The former graphic design student initially started to paint models before embarking on replica costume making. The storm trooper costumes will be sold to members of the 501st Legion Stars Wars fan club. Members of the 501st use their replica costumes for charity events which raise millions of pounds for charity worldwide. For 38-year-old Rob, a member of generation X-Wing, Star Wars is the focus but his skills are in demand. He said: “We’ve already been approached by one film maker and we’re interested in anything horror or sci-fi based. “We’d really love to make a replica Dr Who Cyberman costume if we could get permission of the BBC.†For more information on the work of RS Propmasters visit their website
ctankep
£ 500 - £ 1000 wasn't so bad.
LittleOne
yes we ll have to wait for the armor but these are interesting times... i wonder why Lucas never went ahead and offered accurate replicas of their kits, they have the money to do that and they know there is a market for it. Maybe George just wants people to work for it and achieve a awesome goal when it is said and then instead of having have it dropped in your lap because you have cash...that is the only reason i could see him not come up with a replica.... R2Dan[TK]
The helmets won't ship for a little while longer, they want to release the first run all at once. Most of the helmets are formed though, the finished lids will keep us waiting
stormtrooperguy[501st]
i wonder why Lucas never went ahead and offered accurate replicas of their kits, they have the money to do that and they know there is a market for it. I think because accurate stuff doesn't have good mass market appeal. I remember the first time a non-costumer fan looked at my GF stormtrooper helmet. He asked what happened to it, then went on to talk about how it was all warped in the face like someone sat on it, and that it didn't look perfect like the ones on screen.
