  1. Excellent news. I ordered the armour as well to go with my PVC helmet. I found painting PVC more difficult then ABS, so stencils might be a good idea.
  2. You do not need to paint this set as the PVC is super glossy. Only some ABS sets might need a paint job.
  3. The new stormtroopers now have flares. That says all you need to know about the design work...
  4. Something is just not right about these new ones now I can see them up closer. I am now having a '83 Jedi feeling all over again.
  5. I love the bumps. All part of the original, never to be improved stormtrooper design that's a work of art. Of course, you can always have both! Cleaned up is nice as well. I love my TE and AP, just not as much as my RS.
  6. I do not disagree with your first comment. However, in this case, the fact still remains that certain costumes fell out of IP protection in the UK and can be legally reproduced. In terms of the effect on Lucasfilm, I think you will find that they benefit quite well from the current situation . They did not stop RS props from attending Celebration last year. Brian Muir endorses RS products and was asked back to work on Rogue One. RS props was involved in a big UK Star wars event held before the release of TFA. All of these things generated positive publicity for the films release. Lucasfilm could have stopped all these events if they were concerned about their original IP. Instead, they appear to have turned the situation to their financial advantage. What RS charges is determined by what market will bear, as with all things we buy. They are no different to any one else in that respect. People do not have to use them, and have alternatives.
  7. Why am I biased? you need to clarify that statement. I am simply stating the facts that exist. Certain designs were not registered correctly and dropped out from IP. Thats the fault of Lucasfilm. The law had been around long enough for them to check. Saying armour providers are greedy is quite a provocative statement. They provide a service that people have wanted for a long time (finally Lucasfilm has acknowledge this fact with the Anovos licence). If people think its too much money they always have the option to decline. If I have the talent to reproduce a suit I would do so, but I do not, so I am personally thankful for them and do not begrudge them the money they make for all the efforts they have put in. It also worth remembering that Lucasfilm was quite happy for people to troop for their film and game promotions. Make no mistake, they have profited over the years from this community keeping the films in the public eye.
  8. What loop hole are you talking about? none exists. Lucas did not register the IP for certain costumes correctly in the UK (unlike the US). As a result of the Ainsworth case, it was found to legally have lapsed after 30 years (less face, no one knew they would still be this popular after all this time). RS and TM are not doing anything illegal and contribute as many other makers around have done over the years to the 501st charity projects.
  9. You can see lots of subtle changes in this new design and that means another suit for everyone to get! Great trailer, looking forward to this more than the episode VIII.
  10. Did Joiner sell his stunt suit with the squib hole in the chest? I saw that at a star wars convention with Gary Kurtz back in 1997. They only had that stormtrooper suit on display at that time. These collectors have a stunt helmet as well in their collection. I take it that is the fiberglass one?
  11. The collectors seem to have a full ANH stormtrooper suit as well. http://www.sciencefictionarchives.com/fr/collections/124/costume-original-de-stormtrooper-de-star-wars-episode-iv-la-guerre-des-etoiles Any one know any more about this?
  12. I have heard this view from others as well. Maybe its time to debate this to get it all out in the open. No one seems to questioning this suit's source and I find this odd, because as a rule, any new suit gets heavily scrutinised, if some doubt is raised. This Anovos suit seems to be getting a free ride in that respect both on this forum and the RPF.
  13. Has Anovos said anymore on where the original suit came from for their copy? I understand that there is speculation as to the armour (not helmet) source, and I wondered if anyone has any information. I have noticed that the armour family tree has not been updated yet to add Anovos.
  14. Looking good so far. Keep up the good work!
  15. This needs a timely bump to remind us all what an outstanding job R2Dan did, and show just how poor the Anovos helmet is for those out there who like the authentic look. Just enjoy this thing of beauty!
  16. That's interesting to know. Fingers crossed I get a pleasant surprise this Friday!
  17. This needs a bump. AP offers a much better cleaned up helmet then Anovos. No contest really.
  18. I think my set for stun helmet was great even though I had to wait seven months (at least I got mine). I never went for the Rotj suit (that was 2009, I think?) and if I remember this was the period when he fell fell from grace. I have no doubt this Anovos suit will be worth the wait and at least people can return it if then are not happy.
  19. If anyone thinks this is a long wait for the kits, spare a thought for those of use who had to wait for a TE helmet or suit. Now that was a experience. Mind you it was worth it, he always did make a great suit.
  20. I love your work Mark. Had my AP helmet for many a year now and its one the best thats ever been made. Excited for those about to receive them.
  21. The important questions is..... are they green or black?
  22. The topic of recasting and recreminations is back again in force. This is just like the old days. I wonder what TE is upto these days?
