  1. That's exactly what I'm starting to think, my friend.
  2. I have no problem with the TK boots. Unfortunately, they're on pre-order. The CAboots are in stock and a lot faster to get a pair of and take my application photos. Thank you, Alan. It is pretty nice and I am more than thrilled with it.
  3. Based on my reference pictures I can see that the sole was merely painted white. On one of those reference pictures you can see what appears to be a glob of white paint below the shoe and forward of the heel. Which lends credence to the theory that the soles were merely painted white, if it wasn't the entire shoes that were painted white. Against my preference I'm starting to think that I will pick up a pair of Caboots, at least for my application photos. Though I dislike the $70.00 expense for the purpose of simple photographs. If they work, I think that I'd prefer to troop in the Dr. Martens.
  4. This is a good discussion, particularly for RoTJ troopers. I realize that a significant portion of troopers use the Caboots or TKBoots. After discovering this specific Dr. Marten boot, though, I believe that they are appropriate for a RoTJ trooper.
  5. It's possible. I went on a bit of a hunt to find my white Dr. Martens, though. They weren't all that easy to find and at $110.00 they weren't all that cheap either. Examining the picture I put up, are the Dr. Martens wrong or do they look right? If I get nailed for wearing them on my 501st application or when I apply for EIB then I'll reluctantly consider swapping to a less expensive pair of boots. Or if they just won't work with my shin armor. I think that these work for RoTJ, though. They're in the correct style and there's no painting required.
  6. I can give you some RoTJ U-track data. This information is courtesy of Tk-8280. *There are seven U-tracks in total. *The five longer ones measure 5 and ½ inches long by ½ inch wide. *The two shorter ones measure 4 and 3/8th inches long by ½ inch wide. *They (the U-tracks) are semi- perfect half circles, you could make these with ½ inch wide PVC pipe pretty easily. Please bear in mind that these numbers will depend greatly on the length and diameter of your barrel on your RoTJ E-11. These measurements come directly from TK-8280 and his RoTJ E-11 as pictured in this thread.
  7. With no CRL or EIB requirements regarding the use of screen mesh its definitely an issue of preference. On the one hand, I think that the mesh looks sharper and is likely more comfortable than wearing a balaclava. On the other hand, not using the screen mesh is more screen accurate though you run the risk of folks peeking inside your lid as you troop. Unless you do wear a balaclava and give them nothing to see but black cloth. For those going EIB I'm compelled to think that the screen mesh ought to be left off simply for the sake of screen accuracy. That being said, I'd prefer to use screen mesh on my helmet but with my suit as screen accurate as is it I think that I'll leave it off. And yes, I do have a black Under Armor balaclava.
  8. Thanks, JSmails. The suit was made to meet the EIB requirements and it meets every single one. But rather than me declaring it to be so I thought it might be best to let others decide for themselves. Armor Details * If a holster is worn, it must be attached on the right instead of the left with two white rivets (one per strap) Will be when I get home. * Snowtrooper hand plates instead of the angular ANH ones Check. * Ab plate will be be 3 dark blue and the rest black, unlike the ANH/ESB coloration. The three dark blue will be the three buttons closest to the belt. Check. * Molded lip around the cod and chest (similar to car door trim) Check. * Ab plate details (button area) needs to be upside down compared to ANH/ESB Requirements. Check. * Single back/butt piece, not split like ANH Check. * Belt must be 2.5" wide, not 3" as on ANH/ESB Check. * Shoulder straps should not have a flat end at the ends of them, they should be ribbed 100% Check. Helmet Details * Slate blue traps/tears instead of ANH grey Check. * Black frown instead of grey, and the paint should overlap the "lips" Check. * Lenses must be flat green or bubble green Check. * Traps/tears must be decals, no hand-painting Check. * Four teeth each side Check. * No screws on ears Check. * Ends of frown are squared off, not tapered to points (rounded) Check. Yes, there is white Velcro to hold the shoulder straps in place. If you look closely at the picture of the shoulder straps and the tops of the shoulder bells you can see white Velcro underneath the ends of the shoulder straps. As far as footwear, I'm going to take a chance. I bought a pair of white jodhpur style Dr. Martens boots. They've got the look and they come with an all-white sole (ideal for RoTJ). Of course, this could blow up in my face and my Dr. Martens may be rejected (costing me EIB status if not 501st acceptance altogether). I hope not, though, as I think they look very good and they cost enough (and they were bloody hard to find). LOL There's a boot thread here in the RoTJ sub-forum where I advocate for the acceptance of the Dr. Martens. No one really seemed to agree with me, though. We can take a quick peek, though... You can see the Dr. Martens up top, a couple of screen grabs in the middle, and the CaBoots at the bottom.
  9. Happy doesn't come close to describing how I feel. I'm bloody ecstatic!!! And thanks, this is fantastic. TE did absolutely amazing work on this suit and he took the time to get everything right, even when it seemed quiet. A suit like this had to have taken a lot of time and attention and it shows clearly in the quality of this suit. The guy knows what he's doing. At this point it looks like the armor's shipping out tomorrow, if I understood correctly. I'm curious to see if the armor makes it home before I do or if I beat it there. TE's done the heavy lifting on my RoTJ presentation. The last remaining tasks for me are to assemble my E-11 and to rivet my holster to my belt when I get home. My SR Props kit is there waiting for me and I've shipped an assortment of additional pieces and greeblies home that will get there before I do. It'll be fun to put that all together. I'm going home (to Australia) in about two weeks and as soon as I get my E-11 assembled, if the armor's there, I'll be submitting my 501st application.
  10. As I was promised, I received the final pictures of the completed RoTJ suit today. One of my concerns was assuring that the helmet had appropriate green lenses. A quick peek inside the helmet reveals this: You can clearly see the green edges of the lenses against the white of the helmet. The completed suit: And a few more focused pictures: and Matt (TE) has done a stellar job on this suit. Aside from the accurate details that he put into this suit he did something far more important for me... he listened. As many know, the TE RoTJ suit is not entirely accurate without a little modification and effort. It is impressive and beautiful but not 100% correct. Until this suit was completed. TE listened when I told him how the belt and the shoulder straps should look and he obligingly redid the helmet when I was dissatisfied with its brow trim and curious about its decals. As this suit neared completion he was wonderful with a steady stream of contact and updates. This is not to say that the entire process was perfect as this suit was slow to start and early communication was virtually nonexistent. But as we entered the new year TE was on the ball and he revealed a wonderful and stunning suit that was nearly complete. And now, after a good three solid weeks of work and effort, the suit is finished and ready to ship. * In all fairness, as I think about it, it's possible that this suit isn't 100% accurate. After all, I may know a great deal about the RoTJ build but I don't profess to be an expert to any degree. To the best of my knowledge, though, this suit has been crafted correctly and I am thoroughly pleased with how it has turned out. I don't know if this suit is accurate enough to be accepted as an EIB-grade suit but I am willing to give it a try once both it and I arrive home.
  11. Has your trim arrived yet? This suit has so very little to do in order to be complete and I'm admittedly curious to see it completed.
  12. I just received two more updated pictures. These are of the ab plate buttons fully painted... Ab plate buttons Ab plate buttons close-up The buttons are painted in the FISD EIB color configuration. The bottommost three are dark blue and the remaining six are black.

  14. Alright, TE has just sent me new pictures of the helmet. It's lacking its aerators and the neck trim at the moment but it has a lower brow and its decals are in place... Front Left Back Right The lowered brow makes all the difference in the world. Now this is what I had in mind as a RoTJ helmet. I'm grateful that TE went back and redid the helmet for me. He's paid a lot of attention to my requests on this suit and he's done a killer job on it all around. I'm expecting the final pictures tomorrow of the entire completed suit.
  15. I just received word on the helmet's decals from TE... "The decals are not ESB. They are ROTJ and they are a set I made and I will be doing something amazing to them. I am hand cutting the black areas out and then backing them with the black vinyl like the originals." The thermal detonator, the helmet, and ab plate buttons are drying. In a few days they'll be dry and I'll get pictures of them. With the fantastic way that this suit is turning out I'm happy to wait until these last bits are completely dry. Why rush it this close to completion?
  16. Thanks for the comments. TE has done a really good job with this suit so far and I'm looking forward to seeing the finishing touches. He's reworking the helmet in order to appropriately lower the brow trim for me and I'll see what happens with the decals. I had TK 4510 send TE the RoTJ decals that I ordered and so they ought to be there. The mistake is likely a result of the fact the the ESB decals and the RoTJ decals are similar. The helmet is the one weak spot in this suit (brow trim and decals) and it is being rectified. And I'm grateful that TE is taking the time and effort to make it right for me. I really like this suit.
  17. Noted with thanks. I've sent a message along to TE about the decals.
  18. TE put the sniper plate where he thought it belongs. I didn't make any request or comment on that detail. I'm aware of a number of RoTJ details and I mentioned anything to TE that I thought worth mentioning. The rivet covers on the belt and the shoulder straps were my biggest concerns and I was really glad when TE said that he'd take care of it. And take care of it he did. After I saw your first suit, Caleb, I knew that the TE RoTJ would look really accurate with a touch or two. And I am happy with TE's work. He's fixing the brow trim issue, painting the ab plate buttons according to FISD EIB standards, and he's finishing off the thermal detonator. Once that's all complete I'll receive pictures of these final details and the suit will be ready to ship. TE's been good with this update in letting me see the suit and check all of its details before boxing it up for shipment. And the one issue I have (with the brow trim) is being taken care of. TE has been taking good care of me.
  19. It's not ABS. I said that I had TE tweak a couple of things... The belt and the shoulder straps were those tweaks. He's fixing the brow trim on the helmet for me as well. TE has really been helpful with this kit and he listened when I told him how I wanted the belt and the shoulder straps. The communication wasn't always so hot and it took some time but he has done impressive work for me. I am pleased with what he's accomplished.
  20. I received both word and pictures from TE tonight on my suit. It seems that my RoTJ armor is nearly complete. It's currently intended for shipment tomorrow. At this stage the ab plate buttons are supposed to be painted tonight and the thermal detonator's assembly is supposed to be completed in the morning. I can share some pictures with my fellow troopers and those who aspire to be (like me)... 100% ribbed shoulder straps as per RoTJ standards Fully strapped biceps, forearms, and appropriate RoTJ hand plates One piece butt plate (not split) and upper back with appropriate RoTJ trim Chest plate, ab, and codpiece with appropriate RoTJ trim. Reworked belt (no rivet covers) and drop boxes The ab plate buttons are upside-down and being painted tonight in proper RoTJ colors and configuration. A close up of the RoTJ belt The TE belt comes with rivet covers but I had TE remove them in order to be RoTJ accurate. Thighs I may tidy this up a wee bit. Calves with sniper plate Helmet I've got replacement aerators coming and I'm having TE lower the brow trim before it ships. The frown is properly painted for RoTJ with rounded corners and the decals are TK 4510's new run of RoTJ decals. The suit's strapping system is already in place and the suit is pretty much ready to be worn right out of the box. The one missing strap goes between the legs and connects the cod piece with the butt plate. That strap will be in the box with the suit and I will attach it. Any thoughts, considerations, and comments are welcome on this suit. I've had TE tweak a couple of elements on his RoTJ kit in order to make this suit as RoTJ accurate as possible. Hopefully I got it all right. I'm awaiting pictures of the painted ab plate buttons and of the completed thermal detonator.
  21. Lucas is worth over 3 billion dollars. Just to actually see it... $3,000,000,000.00 He has no need for money. None at all. And so I don't think that he looks for ways to milk Star Wars for every penny he can squeeze out of the franchise. He protects it vigorously, but I don't think that he's in it for the money alone. I'm inclined to think that he truly does hold an interest in television technology and that if he does release Star Wars in 3-D it will be an experiment to push the technology more than anything else. If he tried it with Howard the Duck would anyone pay attention to it? I doubt it. But Star Wars... that a whole different thing. The world pays attention to Star Wars. And though Lucas stands to make a whole lot of money if he does re-release Star Wars in 3-D I don't think that the money is his main concern. With the attention that Star Wars draws, its name, if re-released in 3-D, will be a big push for 3-D movie technology. I doubt that we'll ever see episodes VII through IX. There have been enough statements by both Lucas and McCallum stating that those movies will never be made that I believe them. Why would they be? The Clone Wars series is moving forward and there is still a live-action series planned. That alone will create hours of film. Easily more than a trilogy would create. Lucas' main story was the rise and fall of Anakin Skywalker. That story concluded at the end of Return of the Jedi and so he has no more story to tell.
  22. Yes, thanks for that. I suspect that both theories are true to an extent. I think that the video says that they went looking through the archives and found a RoTJ suit and so that's what they used. I suspect that Lucas figured that no one watching the Special Editions would discern the difference between the stormtroopers. To most people outside of the 501st a stormtrooper is a stormtrooper and they all look alike. And since the Special Edition promo suits look RoTJ there is a valid argument for stating that Lucas wanted the RoTJ trooper to be the definitive version.
  23. Nicely spotted! RoTJ troopers in Episode IV SE. We got around the galaxy.
  24. It's all looking pretty good. The holster came out particularly well.
