Looking good. I'm glad to see another RoTJ In Australia. I thought I might be the only one. Question... where did you get the U-track on the blaster? It's one of the only bits that I don't have yet and I have been looking (I'm in WA). The ab plate buttons... three of them are supposed to be dark blue. You can read about it in this thread: RoTJ ab plate button color scheme

For your interest and consideration, SR Props (makers of a popular E-11 kit) have just completed work on a jawa ion blaster kit... After a couple of month's work and some refinement, the SR Props jawa blaster is complete. I just received pictures of the completed kit today. Let's take a look, shall we? Yes, I know that the thumbscrew on the barrel is usually on top instead of on the bottom. When you assemble this blaster you can have the thumbscrew on top easily enough. This kit was assembled this way for ease of holstering the blaster but you can assemble the kit the other way with ease (you can read about this in the assembly tutorial). You can see that the receiver bolt is functional and that the magazine can be removed for an added touch of realism. This close-up reveals the fine details in this kit. Here you can see the slight imperfections in the woodwork as well as the engraving found on the original Lee-Enfield rifle that this kit was molded from. Bear in mind that these kits are made completely from molded plastic and, like the SR Props E-11, these kits are hollow upon assembly so that you can add a light and sound module to them if you desire. They are cast exactly as these pictures show... there is no painting required (what you see is exactly what you'll get). To view the kit and its assembly instructions you can visit the SR Props main website: SR Props From there you can navigate to the kits section and from there click on the jawa blaster. Once there, you can click on the assembly instructions and you can see the full assembly of the kit. I posted a little more information on this kit in the Project run forum (price, contact info, etc.) but I'm also putting information here just to bring it to the attention of folks that don't frequent the sale forums. I'm not an SR Props employee. I just happen to be a fan of their work.

TK4258 Requesting EIB ESB.[96][AP]
Nassik replied to grungie_42's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Looking good. But yes, finish off that E-11 and if you're going to holster it, put it in backwards... The red circle obscures it but if you look you can see a holstered E-11 on the second trooper from the left. And sure enough, it's in backwards. Not that he had any choice. -
Here is a quick comparative view of the boots... --------- You can see the Dr. Martens up top, a couple of screen grabs in the middle, and the CaBoots at the bottom. The primary difference I see is the forward cut of the heel. The Dr. Martens have a forward heel angle of about 60 degrees as opposed to the 90 degrees of the CaBoots and even the screen captures. But the shape of the Dr. Martens is closer and there is an arch in the soles. I've never said that the Dr. Martens are an exact match for the RoTJ white-soled boots. But I do think that they are close enough to warrant acceptance. Both the Dr. Martens and the CaBoots have a bit of decorative stitching on them so we can't honestly claim that one is better than the other in that regard. And there are two other points to take into consideration... first, the Dr. Martens would likely be better suited for trooping than the CaBoots and secondly, as soldiers in the Empire I suspect that stormtroopers would've worn something more like the Dr. Martens if they had been a real life military force. For the purposes of costuming I grant that these points may be considered utterly pointless. I offer them simply as food for thought.

A very nice ESB build. Well done. It looks good to me. -
ROTJ Suit by TE. progress as of Oct 2009.
Nassik replied to Trooper Q2's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Is there any update on this suit... has it been modded after taking in any of the suggestions mentioned in this thread? I do like a good RoTJ build. -
I wonder if the helmet's been modified or added to since we last heard of it. Any more armor pieces around or is it still just the helmet?
-
I'm not arguing with you on this. I'm just trying to understand. To my eyes the Dr. Martens look perfectly acceptable. The style is correct, the color is correct, and the soles are already white so it saves the hassle of painting. And of course I'll be peeved if they aren't accepted since I already bought a pair.
-
I'm a bit confused here. I've been comparing the Dr. Martens to CaBoots and they are pretty similar... they're both jodhpur style boots. The Dr. Martens do work for an RoTJ trooper. The primary difference is that the soles on the Dr. Martens are a bit thicker. Both boots have a small amount of decorative stitching. And lastly, the CaBoots have more of a gloss to them than the Dr. Martens though they both are white. The Dr. Martens weren't easy to obtain at all. A quick read through this thread reveals the hunting I had to do to find mine. And they were more expensive than CaBoots.

You, my esteemed friend, are the RoTJ Elite and so you've got nothing to worry about. I wouldn't think that anything could just up and be added to the EIB requirements for any trooper version. Mine was a question of curiosity... what's the procedure? For the boots, there are always these Dr. Martens... good to go right out of the box. Or you paint your soles white. And I do like the idea of making the holster more common. We see quite a few of them on the Death Star. They're required for ANH and ESB so why not RoTJ?

I found a picture of the holstered E-11 in ESB... The red circle obscures it but if you look you can see a holstered E-11 on the second trooper from the left. And sure enough, it's in backwards. Not that he had any choice.

Sounds good to me. What would be the necessary steps to make them RoTJ compulsory? There's plenty of photographic evidence to support these bits for the RoTJ stormtrooper. I've begun searching for white naval officer boots but haven't found anything yet. Though I will continue to look, at this time I still like the white Dr. Martens brought up in this thread.
-
Since the white-soled boots seem to be a uniquely RoTJ attribute I'm inclined to think that they should be a RoTJ EIB requirement. I know that there were also black-soled boots and even tan-soled boots in RoTJ but since the white soles are unique to RoTJ I reiterate that this detail ought to be a RoTJ EIB requirement. I think this picture is enough evidence to show the prevalent use of white-soled boots for RoTJ stormtroopers... I see at least nine white-soled stormtroopers here.

Not surprised. I don't remember seeing left-handed holsters in RoTJ. But then again, I've known that the holsters were on on the right for a while now so I wouldn't be looking for left-handed holsters. In this instance I was going more off the memory of how TKCaleb said that he had never seen right-handed holsters in RoTJ before I posted a thread about the holster. I found this picture and I really wanted to put it up for the sake of reference, as I'd never seen it before. So I figured that I could add it to either the RoTJ holster thread or the RoTJ boot thread. There are a couple of really good Endor pictures that show the holster in the other thread but no pictures up of the white-soled RoTJ stormtrooper boots (except for in the pinned thread of the RoTJ stormtrooper outfit). So I figured it was better to put up a picture of the boots so that other RoTJ troopers realize that they have the option of white-soled boots. I've gone with white-soled boots because I'd heard of them in RoTJ though I hadn't seen pictures of them at that point. These boots are a nice alternative to the commonly used black-soled CAboots and I just felt like reminding my RoTJ brothers and sisters that we do have a choice.

For the RoTJ holster straps I estimate a total length of about 7.25-7.5 inches in length when measured from the top of the holster. I figure that the RoTJ belt is 2.5 inches wide and the holster straps are connected just below the center point of that width. Halving the belt gives us 1.25 inches and then we add that to the six-inch hang of the RoTJ holster, for a total length of 7.25 inches. But since the rivets holding the holster to the belt aren't sitting at the very edge of the leather straps I give it another .5 inches for a bit of room in riveting the straps to the belt. Because of the E-11 magazine the blaster would have to go in backwards. I'd love to see a picture of one holstered, even if it was on an ESB trooper.
-
Now here's a really fun pic I found earlier for any RoTJ trooper thinking of going with white-soled boots... Look at our friend on the left. He's even got the right-side holster as well. This shot was taken from a deleted RoTJ scene where Vader was leading some officers to greet Palpatine's shuttle as it prepared to land. And then check out the picture on this mousepad... ---------- More white-soled boots and even more stormtroopers wearing those right-side holsters. This stuff is fun!

ROTJ Suit by TE. progress as of Oct 2009.

Thanks for the clarification. I appreciate it, everyone. Any known way for Allan to to fix it? Sand it down and bondo it smooth perhaps? Will that detail screw up an EIB request? -

I assume you're talking about the belt loops on the holster. Good eye. I completely missed that detail and here I was just talking about it in another thread. LOL The holster was likely an added accessory that was added after the armor was assembled and it's an easy fix. I didn't think armor kits came with holsters. Since the blaster is from Allan's ANH kit it's reasonable to assume that the holster came from the same set. Nice observation, Paul. That was a good detail to catch. -
stormtrooper combat de-ionizer

Good to know. If it's not seen on-screen it doesn't count, then. -
stormtrooper combat de-ionizer
Nassik replied to Nassik's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Granted. If it is in the Visual Dictionary, though, does that make it a canon accessory? -
As I was looking through stormtrooper accessories and such I came across the combat de-ionizer... ------- From the Star Wars Wikia: Combat de-ionizers counteracted the effects of ionic energy. They were often part of the Stormtrooper utility belt tools. Sources * Star Wars: The Complete Visual Dictionary I don't recall ever seeing this accessory on any stormtrooper. But there it is in the Visual Dictionary. The questions are obvious ones, I suppose... * Does anyone have one of these? * If so, where did it come from? * Where would this accessory be kept? It says they were part of the Stormtrooper utility belt tools so we understand that it goes on the belt somehow, somewhere. * Any ideas what in the world this thing was originally? Though I'm not a 501st member I assume that this accessory isn't a necessary part of the stormtrooper presentation and it's likely not even an accepted or recognized accessory. This could make for a good discussion, though.

"And I thought they smelled bad... on the outside!"
Nassik replied to pandatrooper's topic in Off Topic
My wife and I were eying this sleeping bag a while ago. I'm looking forward to it becoming available. I'll have to pick up a couple. -
Oh' wow. Thanks. That's all I really wanted to know. I thought there would've been more but that's alright. Thank you.
-
Running a search, I come up with only one RoTJ Elite application. Do you think that's correct? I thought there would be at least one more than that. Especially with the recent interest I've been seeing in the RoTJ kit.
-
Alright. But how does that help display each ANH, ESB, and RoTJ trooper? If I'm looking for RoTJ Elite stormtroopers how do I single them out? The sub-forum idea would do just that. By splitting each EIB request into a dedicated sub-forum it would make research a lot easier. All the ANH folks would know right where to go in order to see other Elite ANH troopers to use as examples, as would ESB and RoTJ troopers as well. There are also Force Unleashed troopers as well as Heavy Weapons troopers. There may be Elite troopers in those groups as well that I am not aware of. I understand that creating these sub-forums would take a bit of effort to shuffle all the EIB request threads into their appropriate places. This would be a great convenience for the FISD, though.
