  1. E6000? I really don't know what glue people use for that. Here you have a great tutorial by CantBeatPie. There are other great tutorials at the forum.
  2. I think you want a Doopy Doo's kit. You can get it here.
  3. I'm glad you like the avatar. So, where are we? What's still needed? Boots, underarmor and blaster, right? At this rate he's going to get his TK before I get mine...
  4. I think Mike said: This is all very exciting!
  5. Wow, great! Congrats!
  6. Happy birthday FISD! Thanks to all the hard working staff and all the people here always willing to help.
  7. I tried to be incorrect on purpouse. (that was part of the joke) But just to clarify: I have absolutely no idea where the different armors comes from. In that respect this hobby is really a mess. Edit to clarify a little more my joke: for new people, all these acronyms and discussion about what come from where and who made what and when (or why) adds really nothing and can be really confusing. Unless somebody wants to take the time to speak with the different makers, get some facts and write down his/her findings in an understandable way for everybody to read, and with historic rigour, all this discussions ends up in unverified claims, some accusations and Byzantine facts that are hard to follow and that usually derail unrelated threads. No offence. Last edit (I promise): I really don't know if TE2 listens to AC/DC, but I hope he does because it's a great band. Just that.
  8. In the beggining GF made FX. The he got a ROTJ and the BR helmet from ANH and made a new TK. But then LFL sued GF and he got THO of business. TE also used a TK from ROTJ and the BR helmet from ANH to make his TK, but not from ABS but HDPE. He sold to TE2. CAP recasted from TE and then ATA casted from CAP, but since ATA's TK was not OK he talked to TE2 who said it was OK to cast from his TK. TE2 lives in HI and it 2 tired of selling TKs, so he'll be listening to AC/DC for a while. Oh, and I need TP for my BH... (just joking)
  9. Thanks for the info. I wanted to see something from Mike's site and I'm glad to have the site back.
  10. Cool!
  11. It's been like that for some weeks. The domain is still registered to MH. Maybe he forgot to renew the hosting or some kind of server or DNS error.

    Shopping spree!

The images are these: from Star Wars Helmets.
  13. Mmmm... the images are of very low quality. It doesn't look like a Gino's, AP or TE2. Neither a SDS or MRCE. The AP has a clear bump, and this one lacks it. The TE has sharper detail than this one. Looks a bit like a GF... or maybe a TM. But I'm not sure. Let's see what the experts have to say.
  14. Nice! I'll be waiting for your updates.
  15. OK, CAP on the left and VT on the right. I've circled parts where, in my opinion, there are soft details (other parts may be comparable in sharpness to other helmets.) ----------- Now, compare the same parts with the image I put in my previous post. But bear in mind that the flash and the fact that the helmets are not painted doesn't help to evaluate them. The best would be all unpainted helmets with natural light and same angle on camera.
  16. AP (left), TE2 (middle) and MRCE (right) from http://www.starwarshelmets.com/: =========== I'll try to find a recasted one to compare...
  17. Today was the first day of continuous workday in Spain (you work 7 straight hours, without lunch breaks, and leave the office usually around 3 pm) so I went shopping for some SW swag (it was also the first day of sales on most shops.) I got two stormtrooper T-shirts: The black one is from a popular store in Spain called Springfield: The grey one is from a small store called Mong: Front Back And I also got a Stormtrooper mug at Mong: Obsession?
  18. I fully support this approach. My SDS is exactly like that (sans-chin strap) and I'm going to replicate it with my AP.
  19. Hey Joey! I know how difficult it is to be part of this hobby in a country far, far away, so congrats on your 1000th post. You're an example to other people out there. If Joey made it, you can do it too! (but you'll need a strong will as his!) Cheers.
  20. As far as I know snaps are stronger than velcro, unless you use industrial velcro, that holds really well (or so I'm told.) The final test would be to jump with the belt on. I'm looking forward to see pictures of you as a TK Miranda Cheers.
  21. You should see this hobby several years ago... no info at all, secrecy... it was no fun, I tell you. Specially if you were in a country far, far away from the USA as I was. But even then, the best source of info was the 501st members. Many troopers gave me valuable information back then. I'm (hopefully) entering the Legion this year, but been around, lurking, for a long time (several years in fact,) and I'm amazed at the quantity of info around, at plain view, in many pages and sites. Everyone is just a Google away from sites like starwarshelmets.com, tk1336.com, tk 300's site, tk560.com, tk409.com, etc. (to name just a few.) It's confusing at first, too many acronyms, too much info to read, but those who share the love for this hobby find the answers eventually. There's no way to prevent people from doing impulse buys. I bought my SDS helmet that way. Or from buying crappy inaccurate armor or Stay Puft Marshmallow Man recasts. While for some people that could be a real disaster, other people is just happy with a Rubies or Softie's Soft FX and not being part of the 501st. But rest assured that the FISD staff will always try to give the best info around about anything TK related. Edit: Tell that to GF or AA... <_< I have the following idea about copyright holders, and would like to see if I'm on the right track or not. If I'm not wrong, in the US copyright holders have to actively enforce their rights, in order to not lose them. That means, if LFL does not sue a clear copyright infringement on their property, they may lose the right to their stuff. I've read that Lucas likes the 501st, but on the other hand he doesn't want to lose his copyrights on SW property. So, as long as it's not too evident, he can look the other way and make like nothing's happening. But as long as something becomes too evident he's obliged to send his lawyers. So, that's why I'm personally against using eBay, unless it's a personal thing (like selling your one armor.) It's too evident, and you're risking a lot. For that same reason there's no site dedicated to the sale of armor, or catalog or other selling information available. Am I getting things right? I've always thought that was the reason this hobby relied on the word of mouth.
  22. Man, if Pete's not getting elite status, I'm going to cry...
  23. Edwin, you did a great job with your armor. You sure look great with it! Congrats.
