  1. Wow, I didn't even know about that dimple!
  2. What did you use to trim the brow? Hand saw? Electric saw?
  3. For those of you who have removed the brow trim, cut part of the helmet off and put the brow trim up in order to raise the brow: what tools did you use? Did you just cut it with a saw?
  4. Ok, here are my true thoughts on this topic of 'screen accurate': I think that those of us who are educated enough on the matter know and understand the little things like the bump on the eye. But when you go trooping, aside from the other people in your garrison and the people here on the boards, the average joe is most likely gonna look at the bump on the eye and think your helmet is off, or that it's the cheap version or something along those lines. For me, I just wanna put on the armor, go out and mingle with people and 'wow' them with the coolness of the costume. I like the symmetrical look as it is the idealized version. Since screen accuracy isn't that high on my priority list, I'm guessing the average joe isn't gonna care either. And since I'm doing this for fun, as long as it looks awesome in general, then I'm good to go.
  5. I agree, I don't like the bump on the eye either. I got the MRCE and the eyes look great, although it has some other issues that make it not as screen accurate (big ears, small frown, low brow).
  6. Just got my shirt tonight (it's "Starter" brand and not "UnderArmour") and it has the same oval logo at the top of the neck. I successfully colored it in with a black sharpie marker but it still stands out because of the difference in color. The sharpie colored area looks purple in comparison to the color of the fabric. <_<
  7. So is this new helmet going to be trooped in, or will it stay on the desk?
  8. That's just terrible, sorry to hear it's not working out for you. Maybe something will turn around before July 9th and you can keep the costume!
  9. I was pretty stumped when I first arrived here about not being able to ask where to buy armor from. Had to learn the hard way. Is there a way that when people register, the email that automatically gets sent to them can say in big bold letters: to please not post 'want to buy' threads and also explain the reasoning behind it? I know most people don't always read those mail letters, but if you played around with the font and text to draw attention to it, it might help some people get educated before they post.
  10. Congrats on the new house, glad to hear things are looking up!
  11. Does the trooper in the pic in the first post have grey-ish tube stripes instead of blue?
  12. Are you still using the original black cloth behind the teeth that the helmet came with? If so, rip that stuff out and put in some window screen material, you'll get a ton more air coming into the helmet! You'll also need to swap out the lenses as well, get them from Smitty here on the boards, best deal around! How much heavier is that helmet with all of those batteries in it?
  13. There is another thread around here somewhere on the same topic and someone actually called up caboots and asked about the sizing issue and they said they will have the smaller sizes available again later this summer.
  14. I'm not going to the armor party in Logan since it is pretty far away and I'm not very close to getting my armor yet (Mid-August would be the soonest). You should go to the garrison event this Saturday at Wheeler Farms and you'll be able to see your first Stormtrooper in person!
  15. Hey Steven, I just noticed that you are in SLC, I live in Orem. Have you joined the AlpineGarrison.com boards yet? You and I are in the same garrison. I just got my MRCE a few days ago and after trying it on, I'm more concerned with getting a fan in there and proper air circulation! A speaker system is kind of an afterthought.
  16. I think that there is something awe-inspiring about seeing someone in TK armor up close! Once you see the detail, high gloss etc, it's breathtaking.
  17. Wow, you should look up your local garrison's website, find out the next event they are going to be at go take a peek!
  18. Really???? Holy Cow!
  19. Thought it would be fun if we all shared the first time we saw someone dressed up in white armor, also feel free to elaborate on the effect it had on you. I'll go first... I believe the first time I saw people trooping in armor was at the 2004 Comic-Con in San Diego, but I only saw them from a distance. About 2 years ago the wife and I took our kids to see the "Star Wars One Man Show" and waiting in the lobby were various Star Wars costumed characters. I remember seeing them through the windows as we approached from the outside. I kept telling my sons "Look, look! There's a Stormtrooper! Do you see him?" I was so excited. Vader was pretty impressive as well. My kids were a little apprehensive about getting close to the characters. I got close to the stormtrooper, but was so utterly in awe that I was too nervous to even strike up a conversation with him! I have wanted white armor for many years now, but after seeing that TK up close, I knew that if I were ever to get the costume, I would have to troop in it, and not just bring it out once a year for Halloween. Currently I've only got bits and pieces of my full costume and it will be a while before I get the money to finish it off, but I am totally excited. I think once I am trooping in my armor that I will always keep that memory of myself being intimidated and in awe in my mind whenever I approach someone. Just because they may not talk to you and don't hang around for long, doesn't mean that you haven't left a lasting impression on them.
  20. How can you tell that it is a recast? I am too new to be able to detect the differences. Is it the fact that the ears are not separate pieces?
  21. Well, the auction for this has ended and no one bought it, big shock there
  22. How important are the feet and hand stirrups? Is there a lot of riding up that happens on an undersuit without those?
  23. So if this helmet is a horrible recast and is an odd color, what is a reasonable price for it? I personally think that an opening bid of $250, plus $70 for shipping for a total of $320 is way too high.
  24. Yeah, and if you wanted to make the entire costume look even more girly, instead of wearing a solid black under suit, she should wear a black lace body suit instead!
  25. I think the hardest part would be getting the same pink color of the helmet so that it matches and looks like it belongs together.
