Congratulations, there's nothing like landing the job that builds a man's confidence!

I was listening to my Star Wars soundtracks on CD today (John Williams is the master!) and after listening to Luke, and Vader's theme (heck, even the Ewoks have a musical theme) it made me realize that there was no music themed specifically for stormtroopers, which really is a shame. It would be sweet at events to pump some stormtrooper music loudly that everyone could recognize as we make an entrance, but no, the closest we have is Vader's theme, and that just doesn't fit the bill.

I work for myself from home making cartoon characters and selling them on my website: Cartoon Solutions so I can wear whatever I like. Mostly it's just t-shirt and shorts. Although I have the luxury of working in my pajamas, I've found that if I do wear them, I get far less done. So I wear 'big boy' clothes every day!

So this has been assembled and 'weathered' to look like it was used in the film? -
Showing it off. Finally!

Fantastic, you look great in it! -
I went through the same thing: elation quickly followed up by the feeling of being overwhelmed. Start with one piece and once you finish it, the whole process won't feel as daunting anymore.

I've done all these mods except for the ear screws, is there a certain type of screws that one should buy specifically for it?

Agreed, we rented a 3 bedroom, 3 bath townhome with it's own pool for about $110 per night! Kicked butt over being in a hotel room!

Frown question
bluehickey replied to TK8700's topic in FISD Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) Requirements
I dremeled out my frown to make the spaces inbetween the teeth bigger and then I sanded the teeth and repainted them. I used blue painters tape to mask off the area, and then made sure the rest of the helmet was completely covered in newspaper before I sprayed. It turned out really well. Here is a pic... ---------------- -
I know there are really good discounts for U.S. military, not sure about out of country. Also, when are you planning on going? We just went to Disney world in early June and the heat and humidity were so oppressive it almost killed any fun we were having. We had to drastically alter our plans each day so that we stayed indoors at the hotel or in a pool during daylight hours and hit the parks at night. It was a real bummer. If I could do it all over again, I would have gone in the off season when it was cooler. I hear that the summer heat starts in April and goes into November.

I'd say that the overall look of the boots is fine, but make sure that the soles are black and not brown otherwise, even if you dye the leather, they still wouldn't work because you'd have brown soles. As with the gloves, you might want something a bit longer around the wrist. You might run into problems with the end of the gloves colliding with your forearm pieces. You might be able to tuck them into the forearms, but they look like they could easily come out with regular arm movement. Also you might have to worry about skin from your wrist showing. My personal preference is longer gloves like these: --------

Amen brother, I'm at the exact same spot! Any seasoned pro's want to enlighten us?

Why paint the inside of the bucket black?
bluehickey replied to Velcro's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
How long does it take for the paint smell to go away before you can wear it? I don't think I could stand being stuffed in a helmet that smelled like paint, I can only imagine that would rot a few brain cells. -

Well, I got my box of armor in the mail today, and I went from complete elation to being incredibly overwhelmed. Most parts look pretty straight forward to put together, but since I've never done this, I have a million questions about every part. It looks like I have no choice other than to take it slow. Here is a pic of the parts just laid out on the ground with my MRCE helmet. ----------

oiftanker's Armor Build[*VT]

I'd say, that from the knees down, you are ready to roll! -
Should we also carry shields like the troopers in the background of the McQuarrie pic?
-
Well, I want to rush so that I can get trooping, but yet I don't want to rush in that I end up sacrificing quality. I've borrowed someone's TD and wore it for a parade, and it cut into my legs during the entire time I walked around in it, so I see great value in taking the time to get my armor to fit me right. I'm not just going to slap it together and put it on.
-
I'm definitely going to use the buttons/snaps and not just velcro. I do want it to look good and fit like a glove. Luckily I have a pretty standard body type/size, so there shouldn't have to be any major mods to pieces.
-
I just ordered my FX armor and it will be here in a day or two and I can't wait to get trooping in it! My question is this: how quickly can a suit of armor be assembled? I've never done it before, nor have I helped anyone assemble theirs. I already have an armor party that I will be hosting at my house in August where members from my garrison will be there to help me out. Keep in mind, I already have an MRCE helmet, so I don't need to assemble the helmet, the kit is the "lite" version, no helmet just armor. So how quickly can it be done and still be a quality fit for my body?

My MRCE status post modifications
bluehickey replied to TK5144's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I heated up sections of my brow trim with a hair dryer and pulled gently, and where it was stubborn I cut away with an exacto. Got mine all up in one piece successfully, but it was scary!
