  1. LOL, I bet, brother. At these times I don't envy your position.
  2. Please list any all comments or concerns, but please limit any criticism to constructive criticism.
  3. Dude, you're totally excused. Take your time to get everything in order. Just don't forget about us when things get back to "normal."
  4. Well, you are the founder. I'm the S@A and I'm a distant second in postings. Unlike that XO... he's such a slacker!
  5. That? Oh no, that won't do. You'll never get approved in that. It's not even worth keeping. Send over to me and I'll see it get disposed of properly...
  6. It's definately a cool idea, I don't want to take that away from the designer at all. Excellent work so far as well.
  7. Stick to what's been discussed in this and other threads and you're on the right track. I don't think we'll be adding anything crazy in the next couple days.
  8. I dunno... Calling a concept an EU costume can open up the gates for a lot of weird costumes...
  9. Patience! Once we're off our probation, then the wheels will begin turning. Glad to see you're eager to represent the FISD!
  10. I hope it does get tweaked, but until then I loves it.
  11. Andy, the best advise I can give is 1) have a buddy on hand for helping sizing the armor on you and 2) if it pinches or doesn't allow you to bend, break out the Dremel. If you don't have one, it's a great investment for this hobby of ours. I'm about 5'11 and have done minimal trimming to my FX suite and get very little pinching. Not to beat a dead horse, but I did march 5.6 miles holding a flag in my armor and didn't get any armor bites (a/k/a pinches) the entire time. I've seen some horrific jobs of trimming done, complete chop jobs, and the original form is completely lost. Sometimes it's just a matter of re-positioning your armor (higher, lower, tighter, etc) to make it comfortable. Take your time, have an extra set of hands for assistance, and trim what you have to.
  12. Dell, moved this to the Assembly, Mods, and Painting section to keep things tidy. As for shimming the shins, I used ABS as well. With keeping in mind I'm using FX armor. Rather than overlapping the front lip of the shin and gluing it to the other, as many people do, I added ABS shims to the inside of the shins. This way, there would be something to glue both shins to. This way, the front seam is thicker, which looks better in my opinion as the left knee plate lines up with it perfectly. I also shimmed the back in a similar fashion, but rather than gluing both parts, I used velcro on one side for easy suiting up. I realize this may have been a bit hard to understand and vague w/o pictures. If I get a chance, I'll try to get a couple pics up.
  13. For shame Ed... for shame! Well, we've kind of hit a brick wall here. I suggest we start over. Anyone with a good trivia question, go for it!
  14. Hah! You can keep your dancing wookiee!
  15. I have to disagree. Say you dump thousands into a costume and you were accepted for membership a year or two ago. The Legion then changes the standards. During that time you may have lost your job, had life altering event, i.e. divorce, marriage, child birth, injuries, etc., you may not have the cash to invest to upgrade your costume to retain your membership. What then? You get kicked out? You get put on some kind of probation? Sure, I think the person should make the attempt to meet the new standards, but it's wrong to push it down their throats in those situations. Remember, we're a club and this is all for fun. Higher guidelines for detachments are great and having certain guidelines for membership to ensure quality is a core 501st value. But if we start becoming elitist and so strict about every little thing, the fun factor will be gone.
  16. You forgot Sebastian Shaw who was the unmasked Vader/Anakin at the end of ROTJ.
  17. Indeed. The higher standards for deployment have really given me something to strive towards.
  18. You'd be surprised how easy it is to get TD designation currently. You don't even actually have to be dirty. I don't remember the requirements, but they're lax. MEPD has done a great job of raising the bar on the TD costume.
  19. Yes, but from what I understand from owners of the A.N.H. v2 is that it was made as a helmet upgrade from the FX and matches the armor pretty well.
  20. I should be ordering one of these in the next week or so. Ed, I think it would be in line with the planned deployment standards. The helmet has a much screen accurate look (because it's not the size of a watermelon) than the FX.
  21. Just a hunch, I don't think Steve is gonna let me come by his crib. We didn't really get that close.
  22. Hey, I was Color Guard! We were the prettiest in the whole parage, ask Col. Toledo and Steve Sansweet! As for my observations: I noticed tons of FX helmets everywhere. I really think they were on about 40-50% of the troopers there. I did get the opportunity to try on an RT Mod there and with some self conditioning, I might be able to be used to it and not freak out. I'm also looking in the direction of the ANH v2. What bothered me what what little effort people have put into their FX armor kits. Granted, we all know they're not the most accurate kits out there, but it doesn't take much to put on blue tube stripes at the very least when you're wearing it ANH style. I didn't see all that many cloth belts, but I did see quite a few white leather belts. They looked much nicer than just ABS and in my opinion, nicer than the cloth, though not exactly screen accurate. It also seemed like there was little effort made to have the correct colored ab buttons, even for the people with more accurate armor.
  23. I did the 2007 Death March in them with no blisters or anything. They even hold their footing in horse & llaama poop. How's that's for a testimonial?
  24. The same email he sent everyone. This issue has been addressed at a higher level and Bob Eubanks called and apologized to our LCO Mark Fordham personally. We'll always be branded geeks, nerds, or whatever. The best thing to do is ti educate and teach the person some humility rather than come out barking. Sure, I was pissed at first, unfortunately I did so on camera to the documentary crew, but I'm over it now and I think now that he's been educated, he may now be an asset to the 501st. Ya never know!
  25. I use UA Heat Gear. Sure, it gets chilly in the cold, like it was in Pasadena, but once you get moving around it's not bad.
