ATA Helmet Build[*ATA]
Irishtrooper replied to Irishtrooper's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Thanks guys. Allen i used a plumbers putty from a local hardware store in the UK called B&Q. Unsure of the brand name as i threw out the packaging. Its blue on the outside and white in the middle and you have to kneed the 2 colours together for it to bond properly but it goes solid in about 10 mins and is suppose to be as strong as steel. -
ATA Helmet Build[*ATA]
Irishtrooper replied to Irishtrooper's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
After looking at the helmet again i decided to lower the brow and also to fill in the gap in the ears. Next primer! -
After leaving it overnight to allow the glue to set came the filling in. I used a plumbers putty from B&Q, cant remember what it was called. I applied it in the areas required and gave a general shape to what i need for the scope and the barrel. The putty in the photos are rough and once it has set in 48 hours (sets in 10 mins but i want to ensure a solid bond) i will then sand it down to give the proper shape needed: While i was waiting for the putty to set i removed the tip of the barrel and kept the LED intact and working. Before: After:

Ok I realise it would have been easier to just make a pipe blaster but i thought i'm getting bored trimming my ATA that i'd start on the blaster. Thanks to Couchtrooper in the UKG i got a hasbro blaster a few months back for my little project. So a few weeks back i decided to go ESB and then realised that the blaster has no counter on it so i have had to do a mods on this. Generally people would probable just leave the doopydoo's one off it but i decided to cut it out and reform it. This is my story... Hasbro blaster untounched: Doopydoo's conversion kit, minus the counter: First thing i did was to file off all the writing and fill in all the screw holes. Then i marked up the moulded counter to be removed. Note that this area also comes over the scope: Next up removing the moulded counter, i used the dremel: I then sanded all the rough areas and this is what i was left with: As mentioned before the counter makes up part of the scope as well so that means the bottom area needs of the scope needs rebuild also. The next step was to then create an internal skeleton framework to be used to help shape the final look of the barrel and scope. I used pieces of HIPS in the scope and balsa wood/lolly pop sticks for the barrel:

Hey Warren, If you do everything Pablo has said it should clear with the UKG no probs. For clearance with the UKG the black straps will be fine but if your going EIB they will need to be white (on the drop boxes).

Improvements to my humble MRCE.
Irishtrooper replied to darren1970's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Darren, Was gonna suggest speaking to Nate/Heatshock but he has already beaten me to it. His tutorial is fantastic for those mods to the MRCE. -
Yip as Karin quite rightly points out no glue if your putting in a sheet of Acetate for the lenses but if they are cut then you will prob need too, same with the frown mesh also, although i think a few have managed to put these into without it as well. I think Joey has his lenses in without using glue?

i echo whats been said above, nuts and bolts then if you need to use glue - hot glue or E6000

Master Replica ANH Helmet VS FX Helmet
Irishtrooper replied to Paxthar's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Between the 2 i'd take the MR everytime! I got my 2 fans, mic & cradle and plenty of foam in there in mine and is quite a solid dependable lid for trooping! -

Looking a lot better there bud! Thanks for putting up the paints u used, like Darren i'm going to be doing quite a bit in future for my lid and armour. What grades of sand paper did you use and where did u get them and i need to do a bit of sanding and dont want to ruin my lid with big scratches. -
