  1. This was my first troop in the newly assembled armor, LA Dodger game. I need to redo the thighs. I built them too tight on me and could not pull them up high enough. So the back of my knees got some really bad bruising from all the stairs we had to walk up and down. Other than that I am happy with everything else... I am the one to the FAR RIGHT!!! Kevin W.
  2. Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I looked back at the dates... It took me about 9 months to complete this build. My armor was trooped in for the first yesterday. It was not worn by me. I let my buddy wear it on the red carpet with Harrison Ford. I will get the chance to troop in it for the fist time tomorrow, at the LA Dodger game. I hope all goes well.... My friend took most of the pictures for my EIB request with his camera and I am waiting to get them from him. Question: Is there a format on what to list and describe all the necessary parts, when submitting a request for EIB? Kevin W.
  3. I assembled my TD using JAWA001 aluminum clips. These are GREAT Clips!!!!! I painted the 2" PVC tube with Krylon classic gray and left the area under the cover plate unpainted for better boning of the glue. I taped off the areas around where the cover plate will glue on to make sure I don't get excess glue where I don't want it. It also help be pre-align where to affix the cover plate. I taped the clips in place and drilled the holes closest to the cover plate first. Then I use the screws that were provided in JAWA001 kit. I decided to use the screws instead of the rivets so I could change the 2"TD to the large pipe later on and reuse the clips. Then I pre-drilled the holes and inserted the other screws. I pressed on the endcaps to make sure the gray gap between the cover plate and end caps where evenly spaced. EIB pics will be coming soon... This is my first time trying it all on... Thanks for viewing my build process. I hope I provided some helpful tips. Kevin W.
  4. Hey John B. I just want to say thanks for the suggestion to google for the discount coupons... They really work! Thanks... I just order 2 sets of gloves. Kevin W.
  5. I don't expect it to stay perfectly shinny or new for a lift time. I will polish the paint with Novis to help buff it out. But I know in time it will have that worn trooper look that we see in the movies and I'm ok with that. One of the key things when it comes to painting is the "prep-work before the paint" Make sure all the parts are clean and get a good primer coat. It is best to lightly sand all the parts before using primer to help it get a bite and better bond to the parts. Then when the primer is fully dry sand again before painting. Make sure parts are clean and start with a tack coat and layer the paint on evenly. After the paint is fully dry, I let my parts bake in the sun for a few minutes then bring them inside to cool down. Then repeat that again a few times. The paint I am using is not a very flexible paint. So if parts get bent a lot I'm sure some cracking might happen. I am sorry I am not familiar wit these brands of paint (Belton, Motip, montana, quick) I only hand paint the small detail areas. I hope this helps. Kevin W.
  6. I used the French Blue and the Krylon Smoke Gray to hand paint the buttons on my Ab Plate. I'm getting much closer... Just a few more things to do until it is done! Kevin W.
  7. So I painted the black areas around the ear-caps and let them dry a long time. I painted the gray areas with the Smoke Gray. It matches the awesome decals from TK4510 pretty good. Spray some into a cup and let it sit for a bit and thicken up a little bit before applying it with a brush. I penciled in the areas first and place some blue painters tape under the area I will paint just to make sure I do not drip gray paint onto the white. Here is the painted ear-cap. Here is the frown ANH stunt style. And the other side... I just need to install the flat green eye lens. And maybe add the chin strap.
  8. So I finally have some time to show pictures of some progress I have made. The pics were taken from a new camera that is not very good so I am sorry for some of the bad pics... Well I thought I would paint the inside of the Aerators Silver/Chrome. If I understand the background of the aerators... they claim to be old sink parts and most likely they were chrome plated then painted black on the outside. Some of the screen shot from ANH I have seen look to be silver/chrome on the inside. So this is how I painted mine... The thread was too long so I trimmed some off. After the silver was completely dry I taped off the edges and inside with Blue Painters Tape. I painted the outside with Gloss Black. It is very important to spray a tack coat first. Then add more layers... Here is a pic with the flash on.. Here is a pic with the flash off... And now with the screen in place. I love the worn look on the edges.
  9. Femtrooper.... She is in my Fan Film I did a few years ago... Here's the link... Just click near the bottom of the screen to start. ENLISTEES http://www.imperialsurplus.com/fanfilms.html Kevin W.
  10. I did the same thing back then.. So I have a VHS of that too. I also got the Making of the Saga on VHS it covers ANH, ESB & ROTJ. Kevin W.
  11. has not set their status

  12. Thanks... But I need to take care of what I promised first then I can work on my TK build again. Or a little bit of work here and there in between the wait time of something curing or heating up.
  13. Well this project has been boxed up for a while... I hope to get some time to finish it up soon. Kevin W.
  14. I thought I was the wrong forum at first. Looks great but it going to take some getting use to... Kevin W.

  16. I started with an FX Stormtrooper set back in 2005 it became a Sandrooper before 2007. I then made a standard Clone Armor set in 2008 and recently an Animated Clone set. I have ATA set I am slowly working on in hopes to submit for EIB Stormtrooper, ANH Stunt. Yea I thought back then... All I ever wanted to be was a Stormtrooper! LOL Kevin W.
  17. Hey Mike, I heard there is some sexual references. But I plan on going and taking Christiano(12yrsOld). It rated PG13. Kevin W.
  18. Why does the lady on the far LEFT look so bored? It looks like she is looking at her nails. And the guy in the back is picking is nose?
  19. I love the side by side shots of you in the same pose. I think I would like to try that when I am done with my TK set.
  20. The Detonator is a white 2 inch PVC pipe painted with Krylon Classic Gray.
  21. Well... my armor is painted white and it's just waiting for me to have more time to continue... Kevin W.
  22. The nice thing about going dirty is you can hide some of the flaws. So the Fusion should be fine for building a TD and the nice thing is you will save some money and NOT need to buy primer. The primer is helpful to fill in all the small flaws when trying to go shinny. But for either build make sure to sand the armor first (with a fine grit). Before applying primer or fusion paint. If you use the Krylon Fusion brand you might have some difficulty when it come time to paint the gray. If you use the Krylon brand gray, you should put it on with very THIN coats and let it dry between the coats. You will have a better chance of the gray sticking without getting the cracking effect this way. Something else to consider is what type of paint are you going to use to make your armor have the dirty look.
  23. OK so I take back some of what I said about the paint colors being the same. They are all different. Take a look. This is NOT the best picture to show the true shades of the white. I might take another one in the daylight tomorrow. Here is a pic of the parts "NO Flash" after they were primered with Krylon white and painted with Krylon Gloss White and after they have been rubbed out with Novis Polish. If you look close to the ankle area of the shins... Look inside and you can see the bluish tint of the styrene. Kevin W. Ok so what Kind of avatar do I need? Clone are just as good as TK's? LOL
  24. The Novis Polish works great for buffing out the paint too. If your paint job is good then the NP just makes it more smooth like glass. The Krylon Gloss white and the Fusion white are the SAME in color. Call it what you want, Milky white, Off white. It IS still white. I am just pointing out the tiny details. All will be fine if you use the same paint for all your armor parts and helmet. I always seems to have trouble with 2 out of 4 cans of the Rustolem brands not praying right or curing right. So I don't use it unless I need to. I do have a bunch of different color can on my shelf. If I have white I might do a paint test to show. Kevin W.
  25. This was a reply I gave to someone who asked me about the paint I chose for my build and why. I thought it my be helpfull if others are looking at my build for guidance. Ok first thing Never mix different brands of paint! If you use Krylon stick with it from start to the finish. If you use Rustoleum use it from start to finish. I would NOT use the Krylon Fusion for this project. I do use the fusion for my clone builds but they get sanded and weathered to look used, not shinny. Sand the armor parts first before primer. I used a FINE grit sanding sponge. Use the white Krylon Primer and let it dry for at lest 2 days. Then wet sand the primer with the fine grit sanding sponge 320 grit followed by 600 grit sand paper. Let it all dry then paint the parts with Kyrlon Glossy white paint. Make sure the parts are not close to each other when you paint, you do not want overspay to get on them and dull down the shine. I put 2 good coast of white paint on all the parts. I did not use clear, I am rubbing out the shine with Novis Polish. The reason I don't think you should use the Fusion is... if using the Krylon Gray paint for the ab plate, the ears and frown on the helmet, they do not work well together. The gray with the white fusion will make a cracking effect to the paint. Kevin W.
