  1. There are different kinds of acetate. The kind I had om my CE worked perfect. Im afraid you will have to buy new.
  2. Oh, Mr no stripe! It shows your point. The ears being more trimmed might add to the difference in looks. On the subject heres a pic from starwarshelmets that show how different helmets look depending on assembly: --------- BTW is the TM even bigger then the TE2? Thanks for the pic Smitty. Im waiting for my ATA to arrive and Im very happy with the look it has.
  3. Thanks Smitty! Isnt the AP also slightly smaller?
  4. I also love youre shadow trooper helmet. I think the flat lenses look cooler tbh. Why is the ATA smaller? How many % are we talking about? Cheers
  5. Wow, looking great! Why the flat lenses if I may ask.
  6. Cool! TY. Is it mattepainting like so many other scenes?
  7. It will all come down to 1. Idealized or not like someone allready said. 2. Construction, the CE might take beating better if trooping, but I guess its also a bit heavier. I do like the idealized look and can understand anyone who goes that route. In a way its how Lucas would have made them if he could at that time. But the personality of the wonky helmets are the designs i love. They are Star Wars. I can look at the beat up incomplete originals for hours... Sorry for drifting of topic. Im sure youll be happy either way!
  8. Keep us updated! And for lenses, Id go flat if I wanted to troop. Im not a trooper byt I can imagine how it would feel after a while looking through bubled lenses.
  9. That looks like a MR Shadowtrooper, http://www.starwarshelmets.com/MR_Shadowtrooper.htm. If you like that look then Id say the choice is easy. Go MR CE. The CE and shadowtrooper are very much alike and with a little work you would get something very close. I just sold my CE but I actually thought about doing this to it, but I love white stormies to much.
  10. Wait! Theres a naked Leia in that original scene??? I better get that disc, LOL. Im sorry but I dont have it. What cardboard scene are you talking about?
  11. Ive read that the guy said it wasnt Vader and none of the main characters, but someone in a black armor/clothes. Guard? Ill see if I can find a bigger pic and look for that line. Couldnt it be outside the set, yet indoors?
  12. I totally agree. I cant see that pic being fake. (Its directly from starwarshelmets.com, and I cant see how the guy would have got it up there, if it was.) On the other hand his claims arent proved by it either.
  13. No Im pretty sure there isnt. The guy says on his site that he can be seen on this pic from starwarshelmet.com. He says: "A close look at the detail (every costume was slightly different) appears to show that I am in the second row on the extreme right hand side of the frame." ----------
  14. Well I wouldnt worry about that. And if someone can fix it its you mate. Good luck, and if you dont get happy with it, there are plenty fish in the sea, even if you feel bad right now. And you still have a nice Vader helmet, right? Edit: I love the no swearing function, LOL. I was like... what...
  15. I used worker kneepads for padding. Just cut to pieces you like and hot glue it to place.
  16. Well hopefully johnnymac checking the original release can conform his story. I read a theory that the "white eyebrow" trooper entering Tantive in ANH could have the same glossy eyebrow as this one.
  17. Thanks for the info. What a weird suit. If he was in the film Im sure wed heard about it, but how the hell did he get hold on the suit, and put it on like that?
  18. Thanks Dennis! That helmet does look kinda right except the brow. "If you look carefully at the original release of the film you will see me in some of the shots near the Millennium Falcon ramp and the Death Star docking bay. Look carefully and you may just see that one of the Stormtroopers appears to have only one leg! It fell off and nobody bothered with a retake" "PLEASE NOTE: I am dreadfully sorry but because of the increasing number of requests I am at present not able to send autographs by mail." LOL
  19. Hello. The other day I stumbled upon a pic of this fellow in some strange looking armor. Anyone knows what it is? It was among original SW pics, but could of course just be some fan. (He does look a little like Eric Forman from That 70s show. )
  20. Comon now, the prequels are not the classic SW but they are great films. Just a different approach.
  21. One of my personal favs is Empire At War. It has that special OT vibe... Controlling troopers and AT-ATs showing those pesky rebels and ewoks how the history should have ended, LOL.
  22. Good idea. But if they had to repaint the helmets anyway, then maybe they decided to make the frown black as an easy difference in look. (And IF they wanted to include hero helmets, I think it would be easyer to make the frown look like stunts using black?) I think painting the traps white one by one would take much work. Easyer to just spray the lot, (perhaps after sandblastering, with also is quite quick work). Thanks. Another thing I started to think about is if cutting back the eyes wouldnt show in the paint job, shouldnt you be able to see pealed paint and cuts? What do you think, should the cut back have been done without a new paintjob? Cheers
  23. quote name='johnnymac' date='Oct 4 2009, 07:42 PM' post='107452'] Speaking of ESB, I watched it again last night and noticed that this trooper doesn't even have his trapezoid painted.... it's plain white! I think the ESB were repainted after all. I havent heard of a white ANH trapezoid anyway, so if that ESB has it, it must have been painted white. If we could see whats under the decals, we would know more, and actually we can, sort of. I think we should see some of the ANH paint were the decals are peeling: And looking at the right trapezoid, the ESB decal is smaller than the molded area. Yet the area above the decal is white: and Below are examples of the ANH trapezoids, the gray area clearly being bigger. If the ESB helmets were not repainted, we should be able to see glimpses of the original handpainted trapezoids, yet we dont. I think the paint had chipped bad on the ANH helmets and therefore they were repainted. The cost or time to paint them shouldnt have been any problem. The glue and drips could be due to repaints or repairs during the shooting of the scenes. PICS FROM STARWARSHELMETS.COM Cheers.
