  1. Thanks Jez! Ive read somewhere that the paint was removed and the helmets even sandblasted before the helmets were repainted for the film. Have you heard of that? When you compaire this one to the other originals you have seen, is this different in the paint "quality"? Great update on the site btw!
  2. Love it!!! Is the paint job as bumpy on the ANH helmets?
  3. Isnt that... apple...? LOL kidding, installed it and after saving the vids (just clicking took ages before they run) they now runs perfect. Thanks for the heads up AND great vids. They will help out so much!
  4. Great read especially the Mollo part! Im still wondering if we arent seing things that maybe arent there, but some things are strange and this is very interesting to follow. Cheers
  5. I dont get the vids to work. My codex should be up to date...
  6. Looking good there! I think you did the right thing hand painting the details. If I feel brave enough I will handpaint the tube stripes also when I get my lid. Cheers
  7. I started to look at the ATA and man, that is such a cool thing. I just ordered a helmet. LOL for the first time ever I actually started to think about getting a whole set (shhh just dont tell my wife I said so. ). I will make a thread on building the helmet when it arrives. Again, thanks for all the tips everyone! Cheers
  8. This is looking fantastic! I just ordered a ATA helmet and seing what you do to yours makes it hard to wait!!! I just bookmarked this thread. You really nailed the raised brow look. About the spots: the other guys allready gave ya good tips. Keep the pics coming. Cheers
  9. Ah, thanks for clearing that out. I want to paint it anyway so Id prefer HIPS. Cheers
  10. Thanks for the explanations and tips guys! The ATA sounds really interesting! How would you guys rate it against the AP? This is one of the reasons why i love this place! Cheers
  11. Thanks for the info pandatrooper (love your avatar btw;))! Im a little confused though, who would VT have recast? Ive heard he bought the molds from CAP, who bought them from TE before that. Like I said its confusing and I may very well have missunderstood... LOL
  12. Thats looking really nice! ROTJ troopers deserves its place. Keep us updated!
  13. Thanks for the replies Darth finger and Smitty! The TE2 does look awesome! It seems a little expensive for my wallet to be honest. Are there less expensive alternatives that still would look like the movie props? What is a VT helmet? I hear the name mentioned here and there.
  14. Hi! Id like some help. Thing is Ive grown a little tired of my MR CE and started to look at the movie accurate helmets. It is a little confusing, even after reading around here, and through the starwarshelmets.com's stormtrooper section a few times. Id like it to be as close to the original props as possible, but dont know if I got the money for it... Sometimes I hear about pulls with some minor faults being sold to a lower price. That sounds like a good option for me, Im an experienced modeler and not afraid to do a little work, but I dont even know how to get one of those. Ive seen some helmets on the bay, but they smell recast and therefore not for me. Any advices on where to start looking, and for what? Thanks for any help! Cheers
  15. Looks great! Thats a cool helmet.
  16. Thanks for showing us! Thats impressive work! You will have an awesome destroyer when your done. Have you doneanything like this before? Cheers
  17. Update. I just finished the parts connecting the feet to the legs. The original really needs to be replaced. I just tested them and it now allows full movement. Cheers
  18. Yeah I built that one too. But mine had a few rebel canons and a speeder included in the kit . Was nice and actually pretty accurate right from the box. The Revell kit needs more work, but comes out better IMO. The sad thing, if I understood correctly, is that the Revell AT-AT is way more expensive in the States since you have to pay for the shipping (its made by Revell Germany).
  19. Yeah I remeber that one! I bet your looked great. I actually have its cousin on my shelf. Its the same model without the optics. I built it many years ago and its the oldest kit I kept through all the years. No I dont have the skill to pull a good diorama off.
  20. Thank you. It stands about 32 cm tall. Was it the fiber optic Stardestroyer you built? Fiber optics are a lot of work but can look awesome! Cheers
  21. Any updates on this? Cheers
  22. Thanks! It sounds like you built the ERTL AT-AT. I had that one too, and it is nice! This one however is new and way bigger, maybe double the size. It has fully moveable legs. Cheers
  23. Hi! One of my all time favorite vehicles from Star Wars is the AT-AT. I have looked at the Revell AT-AT in the stores sometime, thinking that it could be nice with a few mods done to it. A few weeks back I bought one. Over all its a nice kit with a cool size. The biggest problem with the kit is the head but I decided to mod the original head. I didnt aim for total accuracy, but I still wanted it to feel like a "real" AT-AT. I cut out the window and reshaped the size and look of the window part. The head side armour is missing (!) on the original model so I made new ones out of plastic. I detailed it and replaced the lower canons, I added details to the side canons too. I used a heat gun and corrected the angle of the armor pieces protecting the lower canons. I know it isnt 100 % like the original, but I still like how it turned out. I sanded the body to remove the raised details and then scribed new ones. This was the first kit I scribed and it was a good kit to start on, being so big and having so straight edges. I painted and washed it before I started to assemble the legs. I will now start to work on the pins that connect the leg and feet. The original parts dont look right. I will also remake the plates on the higher leg joints. Finally I will continue the paint job with drybrushing etc. If youre on the fence about getting this kit Id say go for it. Its really fun to build but it needs some love to be right. Cheers.
  24. Thats amazing! Looks great. Cheers
