Jordan, beauty build. Strapping is *chef's kiss*! Joseph brought up pretty much everything. I feel like your shins may be a bit high, but I also noticed the velcro on your boots to help this. Do you think adding a stirrup of sorts could help keep them down? Should help prevent sniper knee lock.

I didn't pay attention when I was kitting up, and ended up with the shins higher than the Velcro, just hitting the top of it. I dressed yesterday because I was messing with my electronics in the helmet (Having Feedback like crazy) and made sure to lower the shins, walked around with no issues. also got the thighs evened up. Only thing keeping from submitting EIB is the ear paint

I'm a guy that likes to go big or go home, like I stated in the title, I'm shooting for Centurion/L3 approval, so hopefully I won't have a troopers accuracy regarding that :P; thus, any approvers reading this, please let me know if I made any errors.

Well first off welcome, you have come to the right place for what your doing, and HEY! what do you mean by this statement? remember Vader directed us to let that scum go in order to find the rest of the rebels. Remember "only imperial stormtroopers are so precise" just giving you a hard time, but please don't insult our marksmanship, we troopers take pride in all that we destroy and concur. Join us! Good luck with the build and hope to see you at L3 status!

Just the stuff that was pointed out already. I will say to make sure in your pics everything is aligned. I was shot down for my lines being slightly off. Every garrison is different I just know it happened to me and it’s an easy fix. It’s always best to have someone who knows how to dress a TK do the pictures. My wife did mine and things got misaligned and I didn’t realize and she had no clue. Take the pics, then check them before undressing.
As for the ear bump lines. Mine are thick too. Thin is more accurate but the helmets Weren’t perfect. I have the same issue with my knee. I’m currently off this coming week and I plan on breaking it out and trimming the tops of both my thighs. Mainly for fit after a few troops but its also the added benefit of getting it away from the knee plate. I have the foam back there and it helps a bit. But it still bothers me.

It’s all easy stuff to fix.

My wife did an amazing job, i was really lucky! she is a theater teacher had has an eye for detail. i briefed her on some things like the lines and believe me she made sure they were straight. I am so happy she has supported me through this, there have been some F bombs thrown down the stairs a time or two lol. But yes, i did stress to her about the alignment and every time i moved something shifted slightly, she caught it right away and it got fixed. just that little thing with the thigh slipped through (bummed) but i will figure that out before submitting L2/L3

Looking sharp, and fantastic job on that AM armor, Jordan... this should be a super easy pass for basic ! :duim:  (You are going to love that double snap system, I promise).  A couple of things I noticed that will help you get to the next level:

    1.  A great paint job on that bucket, but the black around the ears could use some thinning out, and the ear bump could use some widening.

In the first photo, your sniper knee plate wants to get caught under your thigh.  This is a really common thing (I had it myself) and can be easily fixed by either adding a 8 x 1 x 1 inch piece of foam inside (behind the front cover strip) and/or making sure your left thigh is high enough.  It seems to off a bit in the pic below.

I can tell you really took your time on this armor, brother, and once you get basic approval, I expect to see your EI submission right after, sir!  Great work!

Any suggestions to thin out the black around the bumps? mineral spirits? and yeah i was afraid of that sniper knee. I think if i can get that thigh pulled up more it might help with that. not sure why its sitting off like that. My wife did an amazing job though with taking direction with my photos.

  5. Alright all here it is. I am asking for your help to let me know if there are any changes needing to be made before I submit for my approval to the GML.

A lot of that will depend on the particular connection.  Some larger framed Troopers shooting for L3 have a problem with gaps between the a/kidney and kidney/back plates as well as what I call (for lack of a better phrase) "Trooper butt", where the posterior plate sticks way to far out under the kidney.  Using nylon will help keep these areas tight and aligned, but can unfortunately restrict movement if there is not much wiggle room.  Using elastic is great if you can get away with it on any connection, but as Chis mentioned, be sure to double it over before setting the snaps in in it.  (I glue the double fold together before adding the snaps on mine for added strength).

I ordered a bunch of both. Think i will go elastic first, then kit up and evaluate my situation. find places (if any) that need more "stability" and adjust.

  8. Along with my ask before you act deal, just a point of clarification if you will. The material that actually attaches the parts together, the 2 in by 4 in strip, is that elastic or Nylon straps? or is either one ok to use? I got the snaps set in the 1in by 2in and will have both 2in nylon and elastic delivered tomorrow, but which should be used for the interior strapping?

  9. Well you come to the right place. Start looking at WIP threads, and the "pre-approval" threads. those will give you lots of ideas on what is looked at, and how to get your armor built correctly. There is no such thing as a stupid question, so if you cant find it (please look first, it will help you find things you didn't know you had questions about) and if all else fails, ask before you act. You are in good hands. Do you have an idea of which armor maker you are going with? which TK version you want to do?

Good luck in your future adventure and we will see you out there future trooper!!!

Great eyes! Yes I think they had slipped a little - Time to get those biceps hooks glued in place I think.

    Thanks Jordan.

Yeah, I had to give my biceps a hot water bath last night to reshape them, the AM armor is great but was a little oval, so while I was there I made the hooks and installed them. I am hoping I did that right lol. Its super easy to do though so shouldn't be any issue for you to knock out

Hi Winston!  Some great questions there, and I will try to help you out.

"So if any of you out there do Centurion inspections and have any input, it would be greatly appreciated!"

Along with Tony (ukswrath) I am one of the Deployment Officers who approve EI and Centurion levels.

Crotch strap-  The one Anovos supplies (1 inch black elastic) is what you will need, so no problems there.  As for snaps, any snap that can be seen cannot have paint on it, and must be silver/chrome/nickel in color.

Belt-  The type of fastener does not have to be pop rivets.  I have seen people use split rivets, Chicago screws, etc.  Since the head is covered by the square button covers and cannot be seen it will not affect approval, although pop rivets work really well.  Does someone in your Garrison have a pop rivet fastener you could borrow?

You do not need rivets to attach your drop boxes.  Many of us just make a loop of white elastic and glue it directly to them.  BUT... remember to make sure that the tops of the boxes touch the bottom of the belt.  There should be no gap.  Also, for level 3 the outer edges must align with the outer edge of the ABS belt.

Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have!

Kinda funny we just talked about this

The rear belt shot is mainly to check for the inner drop box. but it also shows if the loop that holds the drop box is fastened/glued to the cloth belt or not, which is the major cause of misalignment, a very common problem.  If it isn't fastened to the cloth belt with rivets or glued it is something that we (or anyone) can suggest to keep it in place.

The rear shot also usually shows a closer shot of the approved fasteners, (rivets, snaps, Chicago screws).

The inner box can be held in place with whatever holds it there securely... glue, magnets, chewing gum, (well, maybe not chewing gum).  Some Troopers make them where they can be opened/closed to store keys. etc.  As long as the inner one is in place all is good at level 3.

    Hope this helps!

Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks!!!
