  1. I agree with everything Eric said. If you go with the products he outlined, you should be A-OK.
  2. Glad to see this back up and running! The left ear is looking great, can't wait to see this finished helmet. Keep up the good work, and as Frank said, take your time. You don't want to make any mistakes, because that is just a pain, and will add a lot of time onto your build. Good luck on the road following!
  3. I have watched shows in that style, so it personally does not bother me. But I can see why some don't like it, it takes some getting used to. But still, the FO helmet though...
  4. The only thing I don't like about the animation is the First Order helmet. It looks like it was sat on and then smelled a bad fart. Oh well, at least the Stormie helmet looks fine.
  5. Yeah, it is definitely a kid's show. But hey, Star Wars is Star Wars.
  6. Yup! It is approvable. Also, Altair's is a good build. I have followed it. I would also check out the FISD Blaster Reference. It is very helpful on tips for building and modifying the blaster to make it stable and more accurate (you don't have to do everything, just what you want to).
  7. A modified Hasbro E-11 would work for basic and EIB. But a really good E-11 kit would be from doopydoos. They are cast from an original sterling (well, two actually) and is much more accurate then the aforementioned Hasbro one. It is also cheaper then hyperfirm and some other, since it is a kit. I have a doopydoos and it looks great, just takes a little while to ship (but then again, I live in the US and customs takes forever). https://www.doopydoos.com/stormtrooper-e-11-complete-anh-e-11-blaster-kit-offer-2685-p.asp
  8. You could try RT-Mod, they make bigger armor, but I don't know if it is big enough. You could always try to find somebody that 3D prints armor and have them adjust it for your size. An example:------------
  9. Either BB-8's head got bigger or he decided to slim down, because those proportions look off.
  10. Like momma always says, "you're special in your own way." At least that's what I think when I see an ROTJ. I'm just kiddin', if it's a stormtrooper then it's good in my book! (By the way, most people go with ANH stunt either because that's the original movie, or because it just has that iconic stormtrooper look... or any other reason)
  11. You should be totally fine removing the return edge on the thigh armor (in fact a lot of people do, so that it is more comfortable and doesn't pinch). Also, cutting the back of the thighs and calves on the back should be fine as well for approval. Though, since I am not in charge, you should check with your local GML and see what he would think on the matter. If you need the thighs to be bigger, you can remove the back cover strips on them (depends on what they are glued with) and glue on wider ones. But if you do that, it would be best to do that to the backs of the calves as well so that it looks uniform. But, what you suggested should be A-OK for approval. What really effects approval is how the armor fits you, so make it look good and comfortable. (Now I will let the experts cover anything I missed)
  12. If you are still going with RS, I'd get it now. They have a sale going on with shipping includes, so it seems the way to go. http://www.rspropmasters.com/product/armor-only-kit-option/
  13. RS is having a sale on their armor right now with shipping included.
  14. RS Prop Masters is having a sale on armor for their YouTube subscribers. http://www.rspropmasters.com/product/armor-only-kit-option/ It's a really great price for one of the most (if not the most) accurate armor kits out there. It also includes shipping in the price (so yay).
  15. Here's a link to the FISD CRL (all the costumes approved by this detatchment): http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:FISD_CRL It all of the types of TK's and the details that make up each one. Also, related to the TK (kind of like an older brother) is the TB. If you are a fan of Sandies or the like, check out the MEPD CRL. http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:MEPD_CRL There are also CRL for the other detachments like the Pathfinders and Blizzard Force (and many others) http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:Pathfinders_CRL http://databank.501st.com/databank/BlizzardForce_CRL
  16. There's nothing wrong with asking questions. For $250, there isn't really anything you can do with that, besides some the non armor stuff. Although, one of the cheapest kits out there that is pretty accurate and popular is ATA. Make sure to check out the vetted sellers list. In terms of a total price, it can range from around $800 - $2,200. Now keep in kind the lowest price can vary depending on what supplies are used and how much DIY is done, and the $2,200 would be for something like a commisioned build. Overall, I would recommend a kit over a completed build (1. Because it is waaay cheaper and 2. It will likely fit better and 3. That's just part of the fun). So my advise in the end, if this is what you want to do you'll find a way to do it, as well as search the forum and ask plenty of questions.
  17. In the future, you can spray it with hammered to get the texture, then go over it with a light layer of flat or satin so that it is dulled down.
  18. Looking good! I would recommend you paint the T-tracks semi-flat black and the grip semi-gloss or gloss black. Just for accuracy's sake, but not needed. FISD E-11 Blaster Reference (reference): (BTW, that paint you've already done looks nice!)
  19. Some other things: TD should be a darker grey Longer S trim on the helmet so that it meets without a gap Bottom screw on helmet ears looks a little high TD looks long compared to CRL Ears could be trimmed a little more so they aren't so thick Kidney and posterier are too wide compared to ab/cod from the front Rivets on thigh ammo box should be painted white Screws on helmet should be painted white Screws on TD should be painted black Ab plate buttons are painted a little big (but should be fine) Return edge at elbow end of forearms and kidney could be trimmed a little (for comfort) Back cover strip on left biced is too long
  20. I was also gonna say that you should bring in the return edges.
