  1. For the strapping it really depends on where it is attaching and what you want it to do. Nylon is great for holding things in place and limit its movement Elastic is great for when you need flexibility and the ability for the part to move "breath"
  2. We will follow your build with great interest! Post lots of pics and always ask questions that is why we are here!
  3. You can remove all the return edge everywhere for comfort. The idea of return edge is, more for show less for comfort. The only place that is a requirement for return edge is at the wrist side of the forearm which is to have no return edge at all.
  4. Yep those are my fans. And as CTID stated is using a potentiometer but more technically wired as a rheostat. I have not encountered any fan squeaking yet as mentioned. Happy to answer any questions about it.
  5. Looking good Lou! I don't see anything that's stopping basic approval and after that should be an easy path to Centeruion! Good job trooper!
  6. For the tube stripes ensure a pencil width from the "cheek" is where they should start.
  7. One fix from my centurion application that I did was fix a couple of the black mic paint stripes Before: After: I extended paint stripes 2 and 6 up
  8. I more pulled the hand guards off and glued them on the new ones. I trimmed any excess old glove that may have pulled off and was not hidden underneath the glove.
  9. I bought new gloves as they were only $5 and easy to reglue the hand guards back on. Saved myself all sorts of headache
  10. Made it to centurion! A few minor suggestions to really make my kit look better which was to give the hovi mic tip lines a bit more extension. Also to raise my brow trim a tad, but that may or may not happen....we will have to see
  11. Thank you Joseph! I'll definitely touch up the paint a smidgen. I've been meaning to get a small portable mirror to stash in my tote for such occasion as double checking fitment. The brow I may move it up a tad It's been a great build for the past year! Starting this all in January and finally completing my goal now. I'm proud I get to represent the FISD as an attache and now at the highest approval level!
  12. Here is the fixed drop box after the additional E6000 Now we wait
  13. Thank you sir! It's just not the same if I didn't earn it. Speaking of which, here is one fixed drop box
  14. Your right it is a small thing. But its a small thing that MATTERS! Plus I have a troop this weekend so I will be trying on my kit tonight anyways to make sure all is good. Easy to snap a pic. Hope you can approve me by Saturday so I can troop with that centurion sticker on my tote
  15. Thank you! Its definitely been in there for a week or so now. I finally got around to posting the work pics. So far no bleed. I'm going to give the liner a wash just to ensure it sets the color though.
  16. Lined my tote as I have a troop that I have a fairly long drive to coming up and I wanted to keep everything fairly shiney. I started with a twin size mattress pad/cover and cut all the elastic from it that keeps it on the mattress I than draped the mattress pad like a "U" covering the back, bottom and front of the tote and cut to size. Next I stitched the sides that I cut so that the pad would stay together and not unravel Next I laid the pad over the fabric I choose, folded the fabric over the pad and pinned in place I did this on all four sides With it pinned I was ready to sew! Put the good side up and begin to stitch my fabric to the pad When I got to a corner I simply made sure the needle was down, raised the foot, turned the fabric and put the foot back down and the final result I repeated for the cutting and sewing for the sides. The sides just hand down and are not attached to the other fabric part. Once I had everything sewed I clamped the pieces to the top of the bin to determine where to put my pop snaps at I did four snaps on the back and front and two on each side. I super glued the male snaps directly to the tote, and lined up where I need to put the holes in the fabric. Very pleased with how it all came together!
  17. Update on Centurion approval: Only one minor correction necessary: Darn left drop box did not stay aligned. Added some additional E6000 behind the drop box to keep it in place as well as more on the elastic behind the belt. Clamped and drying.
  18. Easy fix! Added some extra glue to the elastic and box strap behind the box and behind the belt. Clamped and should have a new picture for you tonight
