WHATS THE BEST WAY TO CUT THE PLASTIC?
4505 Marcel replied to ladyscout's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Dremmel all the way, although i cut near with a wheel and then use a grinding wheel to neaten up and get close to the line marked -
To be honest i have 3 pairs of CABoots and next time would buy jophur boots and paint them white, this is how they were in the movie so you cant get better than that. MY CABoots have all started to peel off the white anyway where the armur rubs at the ancle, so there not that great in quality really but there are nice boots. STINK though

TK 8089 requesting AnH Elite Status.[56][FX]
4505 Marcel replied to Zoltan Tyrell's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Congrats on your ELITE status mate, anouther for the UKG, Re-guarding rom/fx. I dont have mine in the lid at all, its velcro'd in the chest of my trooper along with the batteries, and then I have a flat mic attached to a balaclava the cool max type. Keeps ya head cool and everything is indapendant of the bucket so gets swapped around in all my suits. THe flat mics I would say are 3 times louder than the standard rom/fx mics, best upgrade I did to mine Congrats again, great feeling isnt it -

100% agree the bicep looks better lower BUT for trooping its better slightly higher as it stops a lot of the pinching between the lower arm and biceps. Can you take your helmet off and use your arms easy as they are if so alls good -

The left thigh seems to be an issue with SDS armour, mine was the same and had to be shimmed 20mm bigger than the right to get the to sit equal. My back kept riding off the top of the kidney plate aswell, dont know if these are also smaller than other brands of armour. I fixed mine by adding poppers to the inside of the lower back and top of kidney plate and then held the pieces together with 1" webbing to hold it together. I also did this to the abb and chest plate on mine Well done with your Elite staus mate, congrats Feels good dont it -
Ditto on trimming down the lip, I didnt take mine right off but did reduce it alot. As I saw that part of the shim was going to be trouble
-
For me its the Aliens and Predator movies
-
Just leave them in the shed for a couple of weeks and the smell will reduce alot mate on there own <_<

I personally didnt want to cut my sds behind the knee as I dont like the look of it that way. I shimmed my thighs bigger so they could be pulled up to give a little more room at the knee. And then glued them permanently shut with abs similar looking to the front side. My calfs were shimmed aswell a bit and a little off the ancle at the bottom was trimmed off so they couls sit lower again giving more room at the knee. You want to be able to manage stairs (although its still not that easy) as you will come across them on a troop at some point
-
Trial and error mate really as every one is different, then just as you think you have it right and try and troop in it chances are youl adjjust it all again. Ive tweaked mine several times, Im using webbing and poppers on my suit.

Power Source for voice changer

Mine is running on 8AA's to give 12v and I have anouther 8 in my helmet running my fans. Or if my rom/fx goes in the helmet I run everything off the 8. Lipo batteries get talked about all the time as there small and powerfull, but I would highly recomend NOT using these as they can be like little bombs. And require a decent balancer charger to ensure all the cells are even. These things swell with no warning and can explode, and you dont want that near your body. My mate set his shed on fire loosing £1000's in RC Helcopters, as a Lipo swelled and went up and I had a near miss with one of my models in the air. -

Pre made is fine, but it wont fit you some where on the suit My SDS was pre made and had to cut and shim every part to fit me, mainly for your build or the fact they pinch like crazy if you dont. Its really not that hard to do But treat yourself to a dremel, worth ther weight in gold -
You know it makes sense Cool pics
-
I brought 2 off the same guy, he had loads of them
-
And there was me thinking this was a thread to show off different brands of Armour, in clear photos. Didnt realize it was for troopers in action poses You clean troopers wouldnt know what action is, get down in the sand with the best of the best sissies You wouldnt see a troop of us guys running from a sinle man i.e SOLO. This is what SDS armour should really look like
-
Yeah i know what you mean, I had to shim the left 20mm more than the right. o get a similar size fit
-
These any good for you of my AA/ SDS Hero set up?

Got mine this morning, Awesome thanks buddy
