  1. I have a select few fans for sale in the Personal Items For Sale: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35497-helmet-fans-by-eqdizzle-double-tap-stunt-special-edition/ Depending on how they're received, I'll be doing these and the basic fans for sale on a regular Continuous Items thread.
  2. you *can* use it, but not really recommended. That will make the lenses non removable if you do it right, and prone to falling out if you don't. Chicago screws, Velcro, and plastic tabs can all be good options.
  3. The other piece I really like is a "Deadman" switch. It has a foot lever that will activate and deactivate the power to the Dremel, or whatever rotary tool you're using. It lets you only run the tool for the exact amount of time you need it, preventing burn outs. I've used it a lot while cutting resin helmets and it has helped out tremendously. I think you can find one for under $25 at Amazon.
  4. why not use a dab of ABS sludge? put a piece of tape behind to hold it in place and use the trimmings in some acetone. use a VERY tiny bit to fill and you'll have plastic when it dries.
  5. Ordered 4.30 received today with no shipping notification. The website showed mine as unshipped as of yesterday, but there it is..!
  6. I've always used E6000 any time I'm gluing straps or fabric to hard parts and CA for plastic to plastic. The "zip kicker" is a lifesaver as well..!
  7. About the CA glue thing...I built a Clone so I've used a lot of the stuff. You can freeze the parts to get them apart, fwiw!
  8. Clone and Mando buckets tend to be resin, and they are heavy, but definitely not unmanageable. That being said, every 501st-used TK I've seen has been ABS, fwiw, and I think it matches what was actually used on-screen.
  9. Thanks all! I'll be doing one specifically for the ANH Stunt from Anovos too once it arrives.
  10. FWIW, I received my TFA Trooper helmet from Anovos a few hours ago. VERY light weight compared to the resin buckets I have for my Clone and Death Watch.
  11. Invest a bit in a basic heat gun. You'll use it more than you'll think in costuming! Harbor freight offers some inexpensive ones.
  12. ABS sludge is a little runny, kind of like ranch dressing. You'll need some sort of backing material to sludge over and probably need some sanding as well. Scrap ABS glued in from behind works really well for this.
  13. yeah, be careful with plastic sludge. It's a great tool but won't work well in this application.
  14. look at this as a process. I've done a few pieces that were 3d printed and you'll be doing priming, sanding, re-priming, re-sanding until you have a completely smooth starting surface. I did use some Bondo finish putty (~$3 in a tube at Wally World), but used sparingly. After applications of your primer, you'll be doing topcoats followed by wet sanding. Light and slow does it!
  15. yes, you need 4 x AA (1.5v ea) to get enough voltage to make them go. PM me if you want some additional help!
  16. the 9v battery on a 5v fan will give you about 20 minutes of usage and a hot battery when you're done. I run (and build) a 2x 5v fan kit that I run off 4 AA batteries in a switch box. I have found that the ones I ended up using (after LOTS of trial and error) move a lot more air than the 12v varieties on a 9v for a decent period of time. I get 3.5-4+ hours with really good airflow on mine. The 9v batteries don't have enough mAh to run the longer troops I've been on....
  17. Eric from the 70th Explorers requesting 501st access please: http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=16142&costumeID=23 Thanks!
