  1. For the bottom of your bells leave about 2-3mm it helps. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  2. A good point of reference is that your 45° notch on the belt should line up with your fabric belt. This will leave you with around 2-3mm overhang with the plastic belt. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  3. So the first photo is my belt and roughly how it should look on the fabric belt. The second is the top of my thighs. I had to trim them down for length and I still probably should remove more of the length. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  4. As for the general depth of return edge 2-5mm seems about the average. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  5. With your thighs I would strongly advise you to remove all the return edge your thighs and "bits" will thank you for it when you start walking around in it. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  6. No worries Josh. That is why we are here to help you along and get you in the best looking set of armor possible. Snap plates are essentially a piece of abs with a snap put into it and then placed on your, lets say lower back, you then make another that aligns on the upper kidney plate. You then use elastic or nylon strap and place the other half of the snap in it. Then you connect the two pieces. I used the bracket system, but the idea is the same. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  7. Hey Josh one thing to remember is return edges are not required anywhere and they really are up to you and how you're comfortable. With that said how will you be strapping it? Since you've removed most of the return edge from the connecting parts like the bottom of the chest and back plates I will guess you are doing snap plates or something similar Now with that out of the way it looks good so far.
  8. Thanks Glen. Yeah it can be red, pink or anything in between. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  9. Yeah I'm gonna make up some 1200 grit sanding sticks to clean the teeth up. Eyes need a bit more dremeling. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  10. The ears are going well though. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  11. So I'm a complete beginner when it comes to building buckets. So far I'm doing alright, but I'm not sure where I should trim to for the opening. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  12. So I think the bucket is about ready for assembly. But I'm not sure exactly what is going on with the right side. Everything else seems good and the eyes and teeth seem good. I also took a stab at the ears. I didn't ruin them and they need the fine trimming, but they seem to be good. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  13. Started on the bucket and since my TK was Anovos this will be a first time bucket build. I got as far as the eyes and teeth so far so good. I know they'll need more attention, but I'm gonna have questions about the face plate and cap and back. Also being red the lines don't show well. But this is where that is. 14. So I picked this up from my GMO who got it from our GXO and its lived out its life in a box. Well Not any more I picked it up this past week and got to the trimming today. The only thing is it is missing the thigh ammo pack, which Walt is now aware of and I believe working on getting it sent out. I picked up my snaps, elastic and hardware from (Justhoseph). I won't be doing the bracket system this time though, all snap plates so that I can break it down a bit smaller and with a smaller bin. Okay time to begin. BBB of rough trimmed red plastic. Yeah I know it looks pink. Supplies I picked up E-6000, Line-24 snaps, 1" and 2" elastic and Justjoseph hardware set. I also have some nylon strapping from a old backpack I'll be using for the chest the rest will be elastic. Started trimming and I'll be doing this different as well with minimal return edge, roughly 3-5 mms. Wondering if I didn't get this a bit too close? Also have a pair of Caboots to pickup from my very generous GXO. Still need to get started on the bucket trimming. I did rough trim the eyes and teeth though.
  15. This will come in handy for my magma build, thanks Jim. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  16. Hey Joseph I will be using CaBoots for my new build and just happen to have a ready to go photo. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  17. Remember Greg the anovos has pre cut cover strips. So no way of making them larger. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  18. Yup like Andrew and Glen said we've all been there. I'm getting ready to start on #2 probably next week. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  19. Sounds like you got a good start already Don. Good luck on the build and remember to ask questions if you have them.
  20. I've never had a bad experience with krylon paints, but I do know you should never blend your paints. Such as use Rust-Oleum primer with a krylon color or Rust-Oleum primer and color with krylon top coat. The two don't play well together. Same goes for any mixing of the three stick with one and do it. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  21. Yes, this is what I was really looking for! I knew someone made a rattle can formulated for plastic but couldn't remember who it was. I should have known it was Krylon. Thanks for unintentional reminder Joseph. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  22. So I'm preparing to do my next build which will take me over to the Spec-Ops Detachment as a Magma Trooper. But I'm thinking I want to do something different with my bin such as I may do it in a matching paint color to my kit. My question is what is a good paint for plastics? Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  23. Like Sarah I use the same sterilite bin and no real issues, but yes packing is key. I'm getting ready to do a Magma build and looking at how I can get it into a smaller bin. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  24. But have you requested for 501st clearance here on FISD? That is where the initial text comes from. So from what it looks like is that you could trim back some of the bell depth. That would snug them up much closer to your biceps. Another possibility is trimming your return edge a bit more. How much do you have now? Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
