  1. So I think the bucket is about ready for assembly. But I'm not sure exactly what is going on with the right side. Everything else seems good and the eyes and teeth seem good. I also took a stab at the ears. I didn't ruin them and they need the fine trimming, but they seem to be good. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  2. Started on the bucket and since my TK was Anovos this will be a first time bucket build. I got as far as the eyes and teeth so far so good. I know they'll need more attention, but I'm gonna have questions about the face plate and cap and back. Also being red the lines don't show well. But this is where that is. 3. So I picked this up from my GMO who got it from our GXO and its lived out its life in a box. Well Not any more I picked it up this past week and got to the trimming today. The only thing is it is missing the thigh ammo pack, which Walt is now aware of and I believe working on getting it sent out. I picked up my snaps, elastic and hardware from (Justhoseph). I won't be doing the bracket system this time though, all snap plates so that I can break it down a bit smaller and with a smaller bin. Okay time to begin. BBB of rough trimmed red plastic. Yeah I know it looks pink. Supplies I picked up E-6000, Line-24 snaps, 1" and 2" elastic and Justjoseph hardware set. I also have some nylon strapping from a old backpack I'll be using for the chest the rest will be elastic. Started trimming and I'll be doing this different as well with minimal return edge, roughly 3-5 mms. Wondering if I didn't get this a bit too close? Also have a pair of Caboots to pickup from my very generous GXO. Still need to get started on the bucket trimming. I did rough trim the eyes and teeth though.
  4. This will come in handy for my magma build, thanks Jim. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  5. Hey Joseph I will be using CaBoots for my new build and just happen to have a ready to go photo. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  6. Hahahahaha! Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  7. Remember Greg the anovos has pre cut cover strips. So no way of making them larger. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  8. Yup like Andrew and Glen said we've all been there. I'm getting ready to start on #2 probably next week. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  9. Sounds like you got a good start already Don. Good luck on the build and remember to ask questions if you have them.
  10. I've never had a bad experience with krylon paints, but I do know you should never blend your paints. Such as use Rust-Oleum primer with a krylon color or Rust-Oleum primer and color with krylon top coat. The two don't play well together. Same goes for any mixing of the three stick with one and do it. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  11. Yes, this is what I was really looking for! I knew someone made a rattle can formulated for plastic but couldn't remember who it was. I should have known it was Krylon. Thanks for unintentional reminder Joseph. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  12. So I'm preparing to do my next build which will take me over to the Spec-Ops Detachment as a Magma Trooper. But I'm thinking I want to do something different with my bin such as I may do it in a matching paint color to my kit. My question is what is a good paint for plastics? Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  13. Like Sarah I use the same sterilite bin and no real issues, but yes packing is key. I'm getting ready to do a Magma build and looking at how I can get it into a smaller bin. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  14. But have you requested for 501st clearance here on FISD? That is where the initial text comes from. So from what it looks like is that you could trim back some of the bell depth. That would snug them up much closer to your biceps. Another possibility is trimming your return edge a bit more. How much do you have now? Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  15. So have you requested 501st access yet? If not then do so. The info just states that I'm a detachment attaché and have been approved at both Expert Infantry and Centurion levels. Those come from going the extra bit and striving for closer to screen accuracy. Now so far as photos. You can use a mobile app called Tapatalk and it allows you to add photos to your posts. The other way is to use a hosting service like Imgur or Photobucket. Those allow you to link photos into your posts. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  16. Photos would help. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  17. Hey Chris shoot me a message anytime if you need some help. I'll be starting a new build soon. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks Tony. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  19. I am signed up over there, but thought maybe someone might know that but of info. Can't seem to get logged into the Tapatalk page though. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  20. Yeah one thing I really love about it here at FISD is the higher activity and sounding board you get. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  21. Thanks Glen. It's weird on the other detachment forums. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  22. So after scouring over at the Spec-Ops Detachment I'm sort of at a loss for a material. I also noticed they refer people here for the build, oddly enough. My question though is shoulder strap connection between the chest and back. I've seen black canvas referenced, but I plan to go specialist if I can. Over here we know it's easier to build to Centurion off the bat just in case you want to go there later. Easier to build for it than to mod it later. So is it canvas or elastic? Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  23. I would second all the above. Also if you want check out building with tk1636 on YouTube he has an excellent series of videos with a complete anovos build. I also have an anovos kit and contusion. It's easy with patience and remember almost anything can be fixed if you make a mistake. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
  24. I have tactical pads in mine and love them. Sent from my 5054N using Tapatalk
  25. Looking good so far, keep up the good work. Sent from my VK815 using Tapatalk
