  1. Working on my shield now. What glue are you guys using? CA or E6000? I'm torn between the two. Cure time is not a factor for me.
  2. I'm not opposed to the CRL amendment in making the seamless be L2 or L3. That feels like a happy medium to me.
  3. At Starfest one year, husband was by the elevators, TK on the right steps off, catching hubby by surprise. TK raises his bucket and yes, he was wearing lipstick underneath, puckers up and blows a kiss. Husband still shudders at this memory. LOL
  4. Keep the stories coming! I have yet to have any horror encounters myself. I did get hit on shoulder a few at TFA releases in my armor, but walked away after telling the guy "Don't do that!" I'm usually very picky and choosey about what costume I wear to which event. Sporting events, I always go Rebel and bucketless. People seem less brave when they can see your face. Even drunks. My garrison mates on the other hand..... Hubby and another snowy getting the cops called on them at 2 in the morning for weathering their kits on their dirty cars after a marathon build.. My husband's Vader cod popping off at a birthday party the two times 'cake' was mentioned.. TK's getting abused at sporting events, which is par for the course. My husband dressed in his Vader got groped at a roller derby by someone who resembled Gimli. Same event, husband was goosed by a woman who managed to reach around and under the surcoat. At a Boo at the Zoo event, hubby was in his TK, told a kid dressed as Harry Potter "Dude, Slytherin is where it's at." The kid looks to make sure his parents aren't watching and flipped hubby off. Hubby still giggles about the brass ones on that kid. We had a kid damage one of our R2 units at the recent Avalanche game... while the parents watched. Busy environment and the kid wasn't caught in time by a handler or the builder. :/ Also had a rude and very drunk attendee refuse to put his drink down in order to have his picture taken with another of our R2 units. The guy was so unruly, we nearly had to have security called over. There was a birthday party, a Tusken was sent in first, did the typical gaffi stick over the head and shrieks.. The kids scattered like roaches when you flip the light on, shrieking like banshees. The TK's were sent in to 'arrest' the Tusken, and it took a bit to calm the kids down. LOL And I think this one is a winner... during a TFA release event... a sober woman approached our Darth Maul and asked to deep throat his lightsaber. Yes, the actual prop lightsaber.
  5. Good luck Jim. I'm still very new to spotting recasters. Some are easier to spot than others.
  6. I was mostly looking at the helmet, as that was the most glaring of design issues to me. Now I'm looking at more pictures of the armor. On the calf pieces, the black 'pills' should be facing out, not in. Not fixable by swapping out on your legs, as there's the little vertical bars that do face out. On the forearms, the black boxes are on the inside of the wrist. Could be an easy fix by popping the boxes off and re-affixing them to the correct forearms. The chest piece needs to be sitting a bit higher, which that's just simple positioning. Nothing about the armor really screams unapprovable to me, but I'm not a membership officer judging costumes.
  7. Some of it looks... off to me, could just be how the armor is all positioned for the photo. No clear identification on who the maker is. There are so terribly few makers for the First Order at the moment. The helmet definitely doesn't look right on the sides, the trapezoids... The vents are facing up rather than out. The helmet is definitely not screen accurate. For all things First Order, I'd recommend starting with this thread that Clint started. Amazing crazy information!
  8. My husband is your height and went with MC/MonCal armor. The fit was beautiful with him. However, due to wait times, MC/MonCal is not recommended to first time buyers/membership seekers. AP armor should be good! Standard, original trilogy TK's can be pretty forgiving in the height department. That's my two cents on the topic, whatever that may be worth! WELCOME TO FISD!!
  9. Nowhere near close and I made the mistake of scrolling down to see the horrific looking armor itself... This says stay away, do not buy all over it.
  10. From Neon City Garrison's fb page, that should be TK11873 and TK76642
  11. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/34166-first-order-stormtrooper-resource-guide/ is the post you seek.
  12. You can color your armor. The first question is, is she wanting to join the 501st? If she is, pink armor is not approvable. (But we do have members wear pink armor or under armor for Breast Cancer awareness events!) If it's armor she is not intending to have approved.... sand.. spray the armor with primer, sand, then paint. You can use anything from rattle can paints like Krylon to using automotive grade paints or even a paint booth used in the automotive industry if you have the money to do so.
  13. A lot of us use plastic weld by Devcon, or CA Glue with accelerant from the hobby store. Some also use E-6000. I haven't worked with the loctite you pictured above, so can't speak for its effectiveness. I have used the DevCon and the CA glue on my scout and my First Order, and I like using both.
  14. Greetings! First off, the riot shield and batons are fairly easy to get your hands on. There are a few threads here for the kits. As to the First Order armor... that's a little more difficult to come by!
  15. I haven't seen any threads here, but since they would be associated with the classic snowtrooper, try checking out the forums at Blizzard Force. There may be some in progress planning there. http://www.blizzardforce.com/forum/
  16. Imperial Boots does have the gloves. Francois has an additional thread here on FISD. He also bundles the gloves with the boots. His have the palm pads and black stitching. They're great. I have both alpha and Francois's gloves. The White Eagle are now my backup gloves. Here's the thread - http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31188-tk7-trooper-boots-by-ib-ready-for-sale/
  17. This is what Anovos shipped out to Alphas and Betas. It needs slight modification with removal of some of the leather, but approvable! White Eaglehttp://www.dcglove.com/productinfo.aspx?productid=2153 I love these gloves, I cried a little when modifying them as the leather is buttery soft.
