  1. Fantastic post and superb tips! There are also heat gear styled caps, towels and skull caps that you can soak in water and wear under your bucket or costume that will help use your own sweat to keep you cool. I'm in CO which is a drier climate and the UV rays are stronger at this elevation. Lack of humidity makes it easy to underestimate what the sun will do to you when outside. I'll echo what others said, don't be a hero. Also, listen to your body. Stay safe, troopers!
  2. Good Morning, My detachment access fell off the forums for the Detachment only topic. Can I get that corrected? I wasn't able to see QA this year. https://www.501st.com/members/displaymember.php?userID=15193&costumeID=326 TIA, Plushie
  3. I got my 3d printed F11D via Heston. He's good to work with!
  4. I have an Alpha First Order from Anovos. So far so good on the ABS pull! However, buyer beware due to wait times. They've gotten absolutely horrible with delivery and customer support is full of canned responses. Hubby ordered a costume that was promised for delivery in late quarter 2015 wasn't received until January 2017.
  5. Chances of this are slim to none for $350. I'm still under an NDA regarding my First Order, but I can safely say I've put in well over $2k between the armor kit, undersuit, gloves, boots, accessories. I don't think there are too many vendors out there working on the kit/armor, so that drives the pricing up.
  6. Yup.... hubby ordered ESB Han from them in April 2015 during Celebration Anaheim. He was told it was going to deliver late portion of 2015. He didn't get it until February of this year. Almost a two year wait, which I think is ridiculous for a licensed company. They do deliver, but they take forever. Their customer service is subpar and full of canned replies and the runaround. I find this disappointing as I had no issues with Anovos during the Alpha wave of FO TK's, but there was also a marketing/promotion rush behind that.
  7. I also tend to look at trooping as if I were at work. My employer would fire me on the spot for drinking while on the clock. (Or showing up drunk.) I can't fathom drinking while representing the Legions while in costume and 'on the clock'. I can drink up AFTER I'm done representing.

  9. Hubby is 6'2" and had a TK. He didn't have any fit problems with height. He did have to center the thigh armor between hip and knee so it looked proportionate.
  10. The couple that troops together, stays together!
  11. This is the same bin I use for my FO TK. It also holds my F-11D, riot shield and baton! VERY roomy for your kit and extras!
  12. Also, please see this thread. Clint put together a great list of resources. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/34166-first-order-stormtrooper-resources/

  14. Back in January. So considering the 3d printing process, this was fully assembled and finished. Not a bad turnaround timeframe IMO!
  15. Mine arrived! IT IS BEAUTIFUL and SOOOO light!!! THANK YOU HESTON!!
  16. I wear a balaclava with my First Order because I have long hair and it helps keep it hidden. It's also a holdover from the requirement on biker scouts (my other costume.)
  17. **puts PR hat on** The articles that surface periodically about people being arrested in Star Wars costumes? That's generally what happens when you show up unannounced and uninvited. NOT all the time, but we like to avoid that. That's why the 501st operates with request forms to have us invited places. We work closely with our event hosts to make sure our appearance in costumes with fake weapons are okay. Showing up unnanounced and in costume, brandishing a fake weapon is not good. Also, when we do photoshoots out in places like parks, we check with local law enforcement. We make sure to advise them ahead of time where we'll be, when we'll be there, Is this okay? Example.. I organized a shoot at a popular spot in the national forest here.. I called the park service ahead of time. They said it was okay. Once we were onsite, I spoke to a park ranger, invited them to come over, inspect our things if there was any concern. We were cleared to go have fun in costume and take photos.
  18. SQUEAL. Shipping notification. SO EXCITED. It's been painful to be blaster-less!!
  19. I'd suggest hanging on to the additional handplates. They do tend to wander off, or get swiped when high fiving folks.
