  1. Just a bump on this topic. Got a non-member in Colorado attempting to redistribute/sell multiple kits from TKUK to our garrison as well as putting it out on Facebook.
  2. It's Star Fortress. Stay away from them. Also the pictures looked like forced perspective shots of an action figure. The amazon listing is the same photo from here.
  3. My armor is already weathering naturally from just trooping. Next month, after moving madness, I plan to clean it up and work on some repainting to shiny things back up for the premiere.
  4. Welcome aboard! You have got a fantastic start to building your TK!
  5. This sounds like a good compromise to me. I use my balaclava as I have long hair and it's easier to tuck all of it into the fabric.
  6. This is the picture of the kit being provided by Asahi. All I can find is his email address, nothing on Facebook. When I google Asahi Costumes, I get the thread here, and a lot of Japanese costuming. T.S. Moriuchi Asahicostumes@outlook.com http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o181/bakanomiko/asahi.jpg
  7. Are we going to make the language in regards to the ab boxes a little ambiguous about seam vs seamless? In the mad craziness of the Alpha build, the detail on the boxes having a seam was lost to some people. and btw, Clint? YOU ROCK. I wish I had the time to contribute more!
  8. Okay, then I just have short legs! LOL
  9. So what I'm doing is having to bring the thighs up as high as I can and make sure the knee gaskets are as centered as possible between the thigh and calf. I'm thinking anyone shorter than myself, 5'6", may have to wait for a trimmable kit (if that's possible!) or one sized for shorter frames.
  10. I haven't had the nerve to cut my kit down. The thighs and calves are too long for my legs, but I'm not seeing where it would be wise to trim those parts and keep the curves of the plastic.
  11. I too interpreted that the ab boxes were to be seamless. :/
  12. We tried to use loctite's epoxy plastic bonder with my build and I don't know if we got a bad tube or what, but it was useless and did not bond at all.
  13. You will need to paint otherwise the shades of white will not match. (Who knew white had various shades??) The paint you will need to use so your armor matches the helmet is Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2x UltraCover Paint+Primer in gloss white. Or at least, that's what the alphas were told to use so the ABS will match the helmet. ------------ So far, paint chipping isn't an issue. Thoughts seem to vary on clear coating.
  14. Fabric gaskets have arrived! LOVE THEM. They arrived just in time for my next work session on my armor. We'll be reinforcing the yoke, and quite possibly get to work on trimming down the kidney armor under my armpits. Now to go buy sew-on velcro for the gaskets, or snaps in black. I haven't quite decided which yet. Francois's boots and gloves are also on my items to upgrade list. Along with Wyatt's latex gaskets. And re-sanding/repainting. Hubby and I are gonna be BROKE costumers, he wants to upgrade parts of his ROTJ Vader too. #501stProblems
  15. So in other words... Rustoleum... not even once? LOL
  16. In addition to above... a garrison mate was filming on the last day with his go pro and caught this ... ----------
  17. Now I'm nervous about my helmet as I can now finally troop in my kit. I only wore it for an hour and a half Sat and Sunday of Denver ComicCon. By the time I was out of kit on Saturday, we did find the surface stress cracks on the yoke/back connection. I'm already planning to reinforce under the yoke with strips of ABS.
  18. I have to share this... during Monday at Denver ComicCon, this young lady wanted to see the episode VII armor. Unfortunately I wasn't kitted up, but I let her see the helmet and pictures from the previous day. Her expression is priceless! ----------
