  1. Nice job on those fixes, Jared, and see you at Centurion soon!
  2. As Christian mentioned, a small gap should be no big deal for basic approval. BUT.. since RS kits are so danged accurate, you should really think about aiming for EIB and then Centurion, which should be easy to do. If you could post a few photos of the gaps it would be really helpful... (we love photos)!
  3. Congrats on your BBB day, Steph! I haven't seen one of Walt's kits built for the "vertically challenged", but for a fantastic reference guide you should check out cricket's RS build: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/38416-crickets-rs-stunt-build-for-the-vertically-challenged/?tab=comments#comment-514228 Lots of photos and info., and it should be a big help. I see you are in Florida, and if you haven't already I would sign up and introduce yourself on our site: https://fl501st.com/ Lots of great folks down here, and you may also find an Armor Party in your area. This will give you the chance to meet some of the folks you will be trooping with in the future as well as the chance to ask questions and work on your kit. Hopefully you will be aiming for EIB (and then Centurion) level, which is easier to do right out of the box. For more info. on those programs I have a thread here that may help: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35371-eib-and-centurion-what-do-these-terms-mean/ Best of luck on your build, and if we can be of any help at all just ask!
  4. Welcome to the FISD, Michael! The reason you can't respond on some threads is that you need 5 posts here on the FISD first... after that you should have no problem. Also, since you have a 501st ID (you keep the same number for all your costumes) you should ask for 501st access here at the FISD. You can do that here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/16-501st-trooper-status-requests-include-link-to-your-501st-profile-in-your-request/ I am the one who sells the rivets (among other things), and if you should have any problems or questions just PM me. Sounds like you are headed for Centurion, and if we can be of any help along the way be sure to ask!
  5. You might want to take some photos of each step, Sean. This way you could post them in a thread along with an explanation of how you are doing it. This would be really helpful to those in the same boat.
  6. The Novus system is great, and will serve you well in the future for small jobs but it may not get out that deep of a scratch. As mentioned, the wet sanding will probably be your best bet and then follow that up with the car compound.
  7. You may want to get in touch with one of the following, Shane: Q (Glen)- https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/profile/16782-gmrhodes13/?wr=eyJhcHAiOiJmb3J1bXMiLCJtb2R1bGUiOiJmb3J1bXMiLCJpZF8xIjo0MjUxMn0= Andrew- (sly11) - https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/profile/20699-sly11/ They are both fantastic resources for all things TK related and will be able to steer you in the right direction. There are a lot of sellers for those items based in the U.S. which can be found here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-amp-project-orders/ but they should be able to hook you up with vendors from Down Under.
  8. Way to go, David! Great job on getting your EIB, brother, and hope to see you as a Centurion soon! You are welcome to join us here in Makaze Squad territory for a troop anytime!
  9. Congrats on getting your EIB and Centurion approvals in one month, Darren... (now that's dedication)! Always great to see another Centurion Hero! I posted up your certificate on the request thread, brother.
  10. I had to replace my old AM chest plate and I got one from ATA. Could not be more happy with it.
  11. I only use the rubber gloves for canon troops, a it tends to get just a little warm here in Florida and they tend to fill up with sweat in no time. Even cotton "liners" don't help when it's 98 degrees outside. You will need them for level 3 but like Paul mentioned many switch to Nomex ones after Centurion approval for comfort. If you do go with Nomex eventually, I recommend getting the ones with the extended wrist. The ones with the shorter wrist tend to come out of the forearm opening exposing your skin. -----------
  12. Exactly what I was going to mention. I think people would be willing to pay extra for a taller front and back, as it is really difficult to get it tucked back in (unless you have a handler nearby) if it pops out during a troop. Looking MUCH better, though, Gio! Great job!
  13. So I assume that the gray area shown is actually black? As long as the entire glove is black you should be good to go. I wouldn't go too short when you cut off the length. The reason being is that if it's too short it will keep coming out of your forearm armor.
  14. Nicely put, brother. Very nice indeed! The smiles are definitely worth the sweat.
  15. This contest is for any and all new folks who are currently building a TK and looking to head toward Centurion level with their first kit. First prize will be complete set of items that will help get you there, including a set of white silicone hand guards, a complete set of the correct TD screws, a complete set of correct ear screws, and a complete set of split and single cap rivets. Deadline for entries is September 1st, and the winner will be selected by our Imperial Attaches and announced soon after. Unfortunately, if you are outside the U.S. a $15.00 postage fee will apply. Postage to Canada will be courtesy of Aaron, (Pyrates)! Enter your answer below on this thread, and good luck!! CLOSED. Winner will be notified on Wednesday, Sept. 6th. Thanks!!
  16. Okay all you (501st approved) whitearmor types... Here is a chance to win some cool swag, including an official 501st (3 x 16) inch (8 x 40 CM) car decal and an official FISD embroidered patch. (Maybe an extra item or two depending on your answer). Just state in 25 words or less what it means to you to be a Stormtrooper with the FISD. The winning entry will be chosen by the Imperial Attaches, and the cutoff date will be September 1st. One photo can be included with each entry. Post up your responses below in this thread! Good luck!!! Joseph CLOSED: Winner will be notified on Wednesday, Sept. 6th. Thanks!!!
  17. You should be able to not only see but post on that thread as well, James. (Link below) If you can't, just PM me and I will get you hooked up, (I am the one who sells them). https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/39811-fisd-patches-eib-and-centurion-rockers-are-here/?tab=comments#comment-532413
  18. Welcome to the FISD, Alex! Like Eric mentioned, the best place to research armor is in the Getting Started section, specifically here:https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ Most if not all armor kits can be made to fit the thinner framed person with the right trimming. There are hundreds of build threads here that will help, and they are armor specific to each maker, i.e. Anovos, ATA, etc. Just be sure to steer clear of eBay or other online sellers. Many claim to be"501st approvable", but 99.9% are not, despite what they say. Your best bet is to choose from one of the "vetted" makers on that list. The Getting Started section also has quite a few informative threads that can answer many of your questions, and research will be your best friend at this point. Don't be shy about asking questions, as we are here to help at every step along the way. It's also not too early to think about taking your armor to the next levels of accuracy, (EIB and Centurion). More information on those programs can be found here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35371-eib-and-centurion-what-do-these-terms-mean/ Best of luck on your white armor journey, and I look forward to seeing you around the boards! Side note: It will help to add your location to your profile. This way we can perhaps hook you up with your local Garrison or Squad for additional assistance.
  19. I can hook you up with 2 individual green lenses, Charlie. They are curved, and will fit your eye openings no problem. There are a dozen ways to install them, but to be honest the best way I have found is to use Sugru. It is a kneadable (like Play-doh) glue that you can easily roll and shape as you like. You simply roll it into a thin "snake" shape, place it onto the inside of the eye opening, and then press the lens in, clean off any excess on the outside and wait 8 hours for it to dry. Badda bing, badda boom. Done. It is "permanent", but can be removed if necessary. I recommend not using it all the way around the eye, but leaving a little opening on the top for moisture to escape. Hint: To keep your lense from fogging up, dab a bit of foam type shaving cream on the inside. Allow it to dry, then polish them with a clean dry cloth. I can send you 2 lenses plus 2 packets of Sugru (black) for $13.00. PM me if interested.
  20. My pleasure to help out where I can, Tino, and thanks for the kind words! Any changes to the certificates would have to be done by Mathias (Locitus), who set up the graphics and programs to generate these.
  21. Looking sharp, Joe! Always great to see a nicely built set of RS... You should be pretty much golden for EIB, and I hope to see your Centurion submission soon after! If I could make a few suggestions for that, it would be to check the connections shown in the first pic below. Very easy fixes to be sure, and it's the little details that make the difference. The other thing I am wondering about is the back of the snap on your chest plate, (pic 2). It looks really wide, and it may be the camera angle but it also looks white. This is another easy fix, brother. The last thing is the rivets on the thigh ammo pack. It's difficult to tell without seeing the back (inside), but what sort of rivets are those? If you should need to change them to split (bifurcated) rivets or single cap rivets let me know (via PM) and I will send you some free of charge. Again, great job, brother, and I see an EIB badge under your name soon! Side note: You listed you hand plates as being supplied by RS propmasters.. those were actually made by me, LOL.
  22. Glad to see that they finally changed the mesh size. The ears may be better than you thought and not need much trimming if any, Ken. They do not have to sit absolutely flush with the helmet all the way around. Here is a pic of a screen used bucket... note the gap on the left ear.
  23. Quick question for you, Chris... can I ask who the maker of this armor is?
  24. WOW, Jim!!! Outstanding job on that HWT my friend. I'm glad to see that you didn't go overboard on the armor weathering.. (sometimes less is more)! This should be an easy pass, and then onto HWT Centurion. (A small club indeed). The only tiny thing I could recommend is to hit that awesome pack with some weathering as well. I did this by using some silver spray paint and a 2 inch wide dollar store paint brush (disposable). I sprayed a bit at a time onto a paper plate, dipped the very tips of the bristles in, and used a "dry brush" technique to highlight it on the corners.
  25. My pleasure, Zac. This is the route I would recommend going: 1. Apply for basic TK clearance with your local Garrison to get your official 501st I.D. (TK #). 2. Submit for your HWT with your local Garrison. 3. Submit for your EIB with the FISD. 4. Submit for your EIB HWT with the FISD. 5. Submit for your Centurion with the FISD. 6. Submit for your Centurion HWT with the FISD. I'll make you a deal... If you get approved as a Heavy Weapons Trooper at EIB level, I will send you a free HWT patch!
